Time, because it rules EVERYTHING!
iMessage is almost worthless outside the US. WhatsApp rules.

Haha yes, I have an iPhone, my brother in law has an iPhone, but he insists on using WhatsApp.. then again a friend with an iPhone uses iMessage??
[doublepost=1505372264][/doublepost]So here in the UK if you want the 256GB iPhone X, which you do thanks to Apple killing the 128GB model, and you want Apple care and you want fast charging..

Your looking at close to £1500 sterling!!!!

Put that into perspective, it's nearly double the cost of the Note 8 launch price in the UK which is £870...

Gah then I go and watch an iPhone X video and just can't get over stupidly annoying and rubbish it looks with the stupid bar cutting into everything on the screen.. and I remember the Note 8 from the weekend...
Yeah somehow the design choices of the X's screen/front camera array just screams "Omfg we were too late, how can we hop on this bezel-free thing without copying what Samsung are doing?!"

I mean the X could have had a symmetrical screen which would have made it feel much more like an all-screen phone - but that would have taken either using small bezels as on the S8 (the FaceID array would have fit inside them), OR a FP reader on the back. Both sadly unacceptable to Apple though as they would then have come off as copying Samsung...

That, or someone at Apple was drunk/high enough to actually make the unibrow screen their first choice.

Regardless, I'm with you, during the Apple presentation my mind would just go back to the otherworldly beauty of the Note 8...

I have a theory on that. (and the X)

This is Apple putting a marker down that going forward, Iphones are going to cost €1000 and that the S versions will be dumped. Iphones are going to be refreshed every two years.

Why?

Because Phones have got good enough. Even the cheapest crap works well. Phone chips are now stupidly powerful. . By chucking it all in with this iteration (wireless, OLED, Fast charging, etc) There is nothing left for apple to innovate. There is no reason for your phone to not last you as long as it works.

The next Iphone will be simply called the Iphone. It will cost a bag of sand. It will be upgraded every two years. They will do a large "Pro" version and a cheap SE (perhaps the Iphone 8 for the next few years).

The Iphone X is a flashing red light for the phone industry.

Unlikely. The iPhone is the largest generator of revenue for Apple. The company would lose billions without it. Investors and customers will not be pleased by a 2 year refresh cycle and Apple’s guidance can’t spare even a minor loss in iPhone sales.

The refresh is good for business and the trickle down that comes with using last years flagship as this years entry model pulls in many new customers.

And once a company believes there is nothing to innovate it’s days are numbered. Samsung will never say that, so neither can Apple.

Ever since Craig came out and giggled as he introduced Mac OS High Sierra I have been wondering about what they've been doing over there in Cupertino. :D

Really great video from an unbiased person who has used the iPhone X

So you have to use the power button like the home button, unless you have raise to wake turned on, and you have to swipe up to unlock.

I guess as he seems to suggest, the key point is how many times will it be scanning for faces and how will it handle strange ones looking at it all the time?

I definitely am getting the iPhone X over the Note 8. Samsung's phones do nothing for me personally and I don't care for the lag and the lack of updates. I've had 3 and set up others for relatives and they still lag even on the newest ones.

The iPhone X is a beautiful phone and does everything I want. It's definitely the best phone of the year, IMO.
I have zero lag on my note 8 after a week. IPhone X is not the best phone period. Only your opinion. But specs say otherwise.

I just went from a jailbroken iPhone 7 Plus to a Note8 and I can tell you that there is no lag to speak of and the speeds are so fast on both that they are virtually the same if anything. Stock iOS is so boring on an iPhone I decided to try Android again after having the last 3 iPhones (all jailbroken). I have been able to setup my Note8 with just about all of the same customizations that required a jailbrake on the iPhone to accomplish without even needing to attempt any type of rooting.

So you can search youtube, try the same for some Samsung phones, not going to bother myself as i am not that desperate to try and prove a point or offended to care :)

You could find videos for pretty much any argument if you try....
Most people use them as confirmation bias.
The point is they aren't evidence, they are videos that can be manipulated to achieve a desired results.

Milliseconds.
I know right?
There are a few things the iPhone is inherently faster at doing, I think video processing is one of them.
But yeah, mostly Galaxies and iPhones trade blows at opening and closing apps over and over again, quicker than the other?
Does it really bother people that much?

Well thats what i was getting at, easy to find videos for both, so why bother was just used as payback.

I've just had a look at the price of the 8 plus on O2's website. The 8 plus is more expensive than the galaxy note 8. So the iPhone X I think will be about £80 a month it maybe even more.

Interestingly when I looked 8.15 am the standard 8 was backorderd but the 8 plus is still available for launch day delivery. Maybe people are skipping the 8 plus and waiting for the iPhone X?

On EE for the 64GB iPhone x they are quoting £82.99 a month for 100GB of data which is an offer over the 25gb which ends November 2nd

77.99 a month for 15GB and this is only the 64GB model..

I told all of you this! And you lot said that it won't matter and the phone will set sales records.. how is it going to do that for £80 a month for I guess 24 months?

I imagine you can add another £5 to £10 on that price for the 256GB model so potentially £90 a month contract!!!!

It did fail. You can see it while he has it in his hand and the amount of time it takes for the messag to pop up as it failed to authenticate. I dunno why anyone bothered to ask Apple. Its not like they will issue a statement saying it did fail.
Having re watched it Ricky is right. Craig tried 2 times and it was only after the second attempt that it asked for the passcode. Craig himself even said let's try that again after it failed the first time. In terms of success rate I think it will be the same as face unlock on the S8/Note 8.
