Blah, I pick the phone that does everything well and not just opening programs/games. Which is the Note 8.
Gaming for me certainly doesn't matter. Don't think I've played a game on a mobile for like 2-3 years. Think they are pointless unless you are at the doctors with no signal and thats all you can do to keep you entertained

Me too. Battlefield 1, Project Cars 2, Prey, DOOM. These are real PC games. Apart from endless runner games no mobile game is fun to me.

Same here. I think the only game I have played recently was solitaire and Angry Birds. I was traveling at the airport wasting time playing them or in the plane with no wifi. :p

I play some simple games like angrybirds, and that pin ball game in the speed test is actually pretty fun. Basically, I don't really play any graphically intensive 3d games on the phone, as serious games I obviously play on consoles.

Same here... but I do like gaming... just not on mobile devices. That's what my gaming rig, ps4, and xbox one is for. I haven't bought iOS game since... I can't even remember. I did buy a game on my S7 just to try Gear VR... but I never play it... same with the Gear VR. It's just sits collecting dust... along side with my 3D glasses... LOL. However, I can't argue that mobile gaming is definitely better on iOS.

All of my retro games don't work on iOS 11 :( So I won't really be playing anymore games not that I am a big gamer but I just liked playing those games for the nostalgia.

Seems to me worth the premium and a nice upgrade from the 7. I'm going to head down to the apple store today and hope I have some will power.:)

The difference in what you mentioned is that portrait lighting will get better, true tone is a hardware and software supported function. Geekbench shows the a11 bionic chip demolishes just about everything, and if course if this is your thing, wireless and fast charging built-in.

The thin queues in the Apple stores around cities seem to suggest people agree with me. Everyone I know is getting the X.

Tim's favourite market of them all had a whopping 2 buyers at one store

I already have "hardware" truetone on my iPad and setting night shift on and putting it to the left almost entirely imitates the effect. I don't care about paper numbers. On paper Vega is superior to Pascal. In real world its not.

What thin queues? The Apple store was packed and with products flying off the shelves. So no there is not any agreement here. And I don’t care what your iPad has, I’m discussing the 8+, which to me is a substantial upgrade.

So am I.

But just to clarify, the real truth will come out after the first earnings call. Nobody knows what has been ordered until Apple releases the numbers. When they do we will all know what the story is.

The earnings call won’t distinguish between the models.

I have the upgrade itch and who knows the availability of the x.

But if you have to control that urge because there will be much better choices come 2018 because probably the 6 body design will finally be retired, Face ID might not require the swipe up, A12 processor, better camera, etc. It will be a bigger upgrade in terms of specs and redesign because there isn't a way for Apple to rehash the current design and implement what it will with the X in a smaller package unless they just release the 6 design with an OLED screen instead of the LCD.

Looks like it's still slow.

"The conclusion? The A11 Bionic is miles ahead of what Android devices can do. It’s not even a contest anymore, and it looks like Qualcomm, Samsung, and Google are going to have a tough time matching the iPhone 8 and iPhone X speed."

There's going to be a lot of iPhone 8's with broken backs on them.

Can't be any worse than what Samsung has been serving up since the S6.

Those are basically indoor speeds for T-mobile. I get 100+ outdoors and around 50-60+ indoors.

What’s the point when iOS doesn’t have anything which comes close to utilising all that power like Android? That’s like putting a 7700K inside Windows 10S

Benchmarks don't mean squat no matter if Android has the highest score or iOS does. It's about how a device performs in real world usage. Why are there OS wars? iOS is meant to be simplistic, especially for non-tech savvy people. Android is meant to be more agnostic and versatile. Want something more specialized and dynamic, go Android skinned. If you want something simple, to the point, and doesn't offer much in terms of features, iPhone or Google Pixel are right there for you.

Maybe, but Apple promised the strongest glass ever and it seems like the backs are breaking pretty easily on these things.

Hehe, except for when you need to get stuff done and switch back to the other app to copy some text or images but you have to reload the page, but the text is 2bparagraphs down, "damn it loaded fast, but now I have to find that text again, I wish I had had of ram too..."
But you know, games and video editing will be much faster right? ;)

I think there will be one more 6 next year... the 6SSSS or better known as the iPhone 9.

Only video editing. Games run a whopping 2 seconds faster which can also be attributed to NAND degradation on the 7 as everyone is comparing a year old 7 to a brand new 8
