The 24th. It's over.I think you have ordered the note 8 by the 30th of September in the US to get those freebies.

Love it
Ram management seems poor on the 8 plus. Think this is due to apps not fully optimized
Love it
Note8 did a brilliant job. As expected of a Note multitasked like a champion!
There there is no use of having the fastest soc if it does not translate into real world benefits. THe apps are opening slower than the Note 8 and S8 Plus. Nick even commented on this on his channel.Or maybe the first release needs some tweaking as every other release in the 5 or 6 years. But producing the fastest mobile soc in the planet does not seem like resting on ones laurels.
Have you tried to see how for example writing a 10,000 word email or using iMovie to edit a 10 minute 4K or rendering JavaScript laden websites compares between the models? There there is no use of having the fastest soc if it does not translate into real world benefits. The 7 Plus and 6s Plus were destroying the Android competition when they launched. Why is na excuse made for this release?

That an app opens 10 milliseconds slower is irrelevant if the iMovie editing process is 30 seconds faster.
That is not the case. The final release of the previous iOS version is usually tuned to perfection. There are various and sundry discussions regarding new releases. None of them are ever perfect.Every other release has never had this issue with the new phone slower than the previous version in performance.

I’m guessing there is a bunch of tuning related to the new architecture that will get ironed out prior to the release of the iPhone x.
“Spew” lol I gotta good kick out that. But how come the 8 was slower making the movie vs the 7 in that video someone posted?
Facts are facts. At this time the 8 performance is not there. Please stop this denial you continue to spew.
Actually all of them were slower in some “metric” whether that metric was meaningful or not is up to the reader to decide. Whether it was some form of lag, random input blocking, side by side serial app openings etc.None of them had the performance be slower than the previous version.

A whole lotta “spewing” going on — Jerry Lee Lewis.

So now you have a note 8? The reality is Apple needs to tune this, but most people done care. It’s indicative of some huge architectural changes under the cover with the iPhone 8.I use apps on my phone and Note is launching many apps 1-2 seconds faster. The SD835 in the Note is actually on par with the A10 Fusion in the iPhone 7 so there is no excuse for this performance.
For serial Youtube app openers this could be an issue. But for most folks it won’t.What is this tuning thing and “reindexing” everyone keeps spamming in every iOS 11 thread. The iPhone X has been in development at Apple for a year including the firmware for it. This isn’t a company run by 20 employees. Performance will improve no doubt but load times will not.
Well that can’t be proved as I can find some arbitrary area where the iPhone 7 was slower. At launch the iPhone 7 was not slower than 6s in any metric.
I don’t but YouTube videos indicate this. People will care as for $1200 it needs to be the fastest phone on the planet. So now you have a note 8? The reality is Apple needs to tune this, but most people done care. It’s indicative of some huge architectural changes under the cover with the iPhone 8.

Ahhh so it’s not your own use case.I don’t but YouTube videos indicate this. People will care as for $1200 it needs to be the fastest phone on the planet.
The opposite could hold true you could name every single 10000 metrics and declare one by one which was faster. I’m sure there were at least one area the 6s was faster due some different tuning on hardware. Now I am curious. In which area was iPhone 7 slower than 6s?
Squat is the appropriate word, however this is macrumors where every nuance is always up for grabs for lengthy discussions. You know you guys sound like idiots arguing about which phone is 10 milliseconds faster. I'm not saying you are idiots, just saying you sound like ones. Find me a consumer in the real world that has a stopwatch capable of measuring milliseconds actually making a buying decision based on this. OK I'm waiting...no? I thought not. Now just enjoy the phone you have, if you get an extra 300 milliseconds during an entire lifetime then use that time wisely, and move on.
/rant... sorry for everyone else, I'm just so sick and tired of these "speed tests" which prove nothing at all, and all the talk about superior SOC's which translate to exactly SQUAT in real life.

Synthetic benchmarks have always been hogwash that don't translate to real world performance.
Except for the WiFi, games and some apps. I fully expect Apple to recitify any of your “concerns” with iOS 11 on the iPhones x and 8. They have already come out with a point release and my guess there will be weekly releases for the near term future.Haha, wow! The 6s plus beats the 8!! Just proves those benchmarks aren't worth it at all.
Oh yeah? Where is the wifi test? Please link it.Except for the WiFi, games and some apps. I fully expect Apple to recitify any of your “concerns” with iOS 11 on the iPhones x and 8. They have already come out with a point release and my guess there will be weekly releases for the near term future.
