But I heard the reason to stay with iOS is that "it just works," and "guaranteed updates." No?
Again, what good are updates when they just screw stuff up? This always happens with iOS. Yet you guys keep pushing this mantra of buttery smooth OS all the time.
As in everything software and hardware, your mileage will vary. If you think Apple doesn't release software with bugs, you don't follow the hardware and software industry that closely. And if you look at the cycle which has been going on since Jobs, they generally take until June to perfect their IOS release.

Uh oh. You’re gonna be soooooo mad at all the Pixel guys!

I have a Pixel XL. Android Oreo is a buggy mess. The Pixel still has BT issues. Battery life is variable. Smoothness is overrated.

If it had been better, I wouldn't have moved to Samsung.

Then they shouldn't release the OS until it is ready. So tired of everyone just throwing out releases because of some schedule and unspoken rule that you have to release every 12 months.

We should demand better, we should get better.

So you mean your own experiences don’t match up with some of the hyperbole some folks are prone to online?

Yes.

And I know where you're going with this. I'm sure iOS is less buggy than some people think. You're the person who said it stutters on your new iPhone, though. I'm going from you.

Should I not trust your experience?

Well this is what they do. New IOS releases have some bugginess. My family though has never not been able to make a phone call since the iphone 4 days. But this is the environment in 2017.

This was my quote:

I have an 8 Plus that hasn’t lagged. I’ve seen a few stutters here and there, that’s about it.

This is not describing a “phone that stutters.” You’re being disingenuous.

Feel free to trust or not trust my experience. It’s your interpretation of that experience that’s questionable.

And it's a bad environment. I should be allowed to complain about bad software practices that haven't changed yet.

I trust your experience of a phone that occasionally stutters. Why would you lie? I trust people that they aren't going to lie about their experiences. I wish you were lying, tbh, because I want everyone to have the best experience.

So, they basically release crap and let everyone be a beta tester for something they should have working before release. Pathetic. No thanks Apple. Keep your "timely" crap updates that slow down and cripple my brand new phone. I just realized how much of a horrendous track record Apple has with crippling older devices with updates. What an absolute embarrassment. I'm reading more and more how bad Apple is with iOS. It's just getting worse while Android becomes more and more refined and fluid. Even OEMs like Samsung are getting better with software. The experience on the Note 8 is a perfect example of this. Samsung even let's you volunteer to be part of their Oreo beta. They don't force out an update and make everyone a beta tester like Apple does.

The iPhone 8 Plus is the best experience I’ve had with an iPhone to date. The Note 8 is the best experience I’ve had with a Note to date.

Neither phone runs flawlessly. I’m sorry to hear that’s your personal criteria. You’ve probably been super frustrated with these devices for the last decade.

That makes me sad. :(

Flawless and without stuttering in the newest device are two separate things. Also, life is frustration.

And people call out Samsung for taking a year to update devices. We slog through crap for a year for perfection only to be broken a month later. Nice model.

IMO, IOS 11 is one of the best releases in a long time, even though some are complaining about this and that. I'm on 11.1 now on my 6s and aside from some interface issues it's very stable (for me). No one is stopping anyone from complaining, however there are different takes on how one perceives this stuff.

It's your opinion and you are entitled to it, the same as everyone else is entitled to their own opinion. My two 5s are running great on ios 11.1, so I don't see them crippling a four year old phone. 6s+, 7 and 7+ are running pretty well on 11.0.1 aside from some annoying interface glitches that I'm sure will be ironed shortly.

You slog through crap with your devices for whatever reason. My phones are running well and I wouldn't downgrade to ios 10, even if it were possible.

Speed Tests and Battery tests are showing iOS 11 is the most bug infested OS till date. 7 Plus on 7% Battery at the end of the test while S8 is on 54%. That’s much beyond a margin of error.

Yeah, I wish all of Apple went by the zero regression model.

I think those fancy animations and visuals are starting to take a toll on the smoothness of the OS so that it’s impossible to make it fluid. Android doesn’t have these complex visuals and runs smoother nowadays.
[doublepost=1506999001][/doublepost]
I'm not having any issues with performance or battery life and neither is my family.
But tons of people are. There’s articles on Forbes and MR and news dailies. It is a bug ridden OS for many and it’s a fact. The worst being battery life. It’s horrible. I need to top up twice a day on my 7 Plus.

I don't know who the "tons" are. That's a strawman argument. Some people might be and others might not be. Having articles written up doesn't mean there is a generic rule that "everybody" is. It's like the ios 8 update that bricked phones. It was an issue, but I updated that release without issue. It is not a fact it is a bug ridden release, that's your opinion only; which is different than saying there are bugs in the software.

Don't know what you are trying to "emote", pun intended. But I'm sure your answer furthered the discussion. Pot kettle thing applies aptly.
It’s a fact because my phone, the phones in my family are suffering from issues. It can’t be a opinion as it’s actually happening on our devices.

Well then be honest and say, "it's the most bug ridden I've encountered", rather than this mythical universe of "we" who can't be identified nor enumerated.:D

When I say we I am including the vast amount of customers suffering from issues. When we have this being mentioned on news channels I am sure that’s a sizeable number. The adoption rate of iOS 11 is also slower than iOS 10.

What vast amount? Your premise is flawed; dead horse beaten and rolling in grave. Got a number? Percentage? More straws for the strawman discussion?

Why was this issue mentioned on Live TV and news dailies and Forbes? Why is iPhone 8 slower than Note 8? Why is iPhone 8 slower than iPhone 7? Why are iPhpne 8 and iPhpme 7 lasting half as long as an S8?

Because the juggernaut apple is always under a microscope. Slower is a matter of what your performance metric is. If you go by geekbench, it's not slower at all. Same for the iphone 8 vs iphone 7. And this talk about performance is just a deflection which has nothing to do with your original statement that bugs exist, they always have and always will. I'm just questioning how you know the universe of all of these items.

I don’t care about geekbench. My use case is opening apps And proper ram management and that’s slower. The slow performance and that horrible battery life is due to the bugs. I haven’t even started on the input lag and springboard crashes. And I assure you until the home button lag is fixed, not only the Note 8 but the Pixel 2 and One Plus 6 will wipe the floor with iPhones in performance as the Note 8 itself will no doubt be more sluggish than These phones.

Okay, I don’t care about opening apps. It’s already been proven iphone 8 is faster in gaming. So you’re cherry picking here. But your entitled to your opinion even though you cannot define “vast”. I have no input lag or springboard crashes. Your issues are not universal which is the point. And we’ll see who is mopping the floor with who.
