You think that the animations might have something to do with the differences? Shortening them in developer mode might help.

To an extent, but Samsung Experience, which I like a lot, is just a naturally clunky skin.

I’m not bothered by these differences. Sammy has come so far from TW and the Note is such a great device that it’s okay if it’s a bit awkward at times. This is true if it’s form factor, which I don’t like. But that’s how much i like the software.

I picked up an iPhone 8 plus, skipping the note 8, I still have a s7 edge in a drawer somewhere.

I just picked up a Note 8 (had the 8 Plus) and I'm thoroughly impressed so far.

Even with the 8 Plus and iOS 11 it was stuttering at times. I' sure a future iOS update will fix it but the Note 8 has been buttery smooth so far.

I'l most likely post a review/update after a couple weeks and the honeymoon phase wears off.

8 Plus. Definitely. The Note is fluid but the best way I can describe the difference is it still feels like it “lurches” from movement to movement vs the 8 Plus “gliding”.

Pixel XL is the only Android phone I’ve ever owned that I would describe as iOS smooth.

What exactly were you seeing that lurched? I have had the Note 8 for a few days and never seen any lurching. Everything is very responsive. I have seen sometimes like on Facebook if I scroll down very quickly that the images aren't instantly filled... a slight delay. Not sure if that is the device or not. I'm on gigabit fiber, so bandwidth shouldn't be an issue. Without an iPhone 8 here next to me can't compare. My daughter just got an iPhone 8 last night, so when she's home I'll try to play around with some side by side tests.

Bottom line, is that if there is any difference, its so slight that you'd never know unless they were side by side. What is a lot faster to me is the interactions on the Gear S3 vs. my original Apple Watch. Loading apps to the Gear S3 takes seconds to complete.

I like the size and aspect ratio of the the 8 plus, not sure I’m ready to move to a 18:9 display.
Better screen, better battery, better speakers, better processor, better cameras and Touch ID and 3D Touch are more refined compared to the iPhone 7+. Oh and portrait lighting is a lot fun.

It also has a very iPhone 4 like feel to it, just jumbo sized.

Regarding the iPhone X, I might pre order one to check it out.
I do like the ears/notch, just not a big fan of oled and its a bit smaller than what I have become accustomed to with the plus sized iPhone.

My thoughts to on the 8 Plus..... I am really enjoying it over the 7+.
Also loving wireless charging on an iPhone finally!

I think a lot of people will be surprised at how small the X will be in their hands.

Mine are side by side, so I notice but it's not an issue for me.

Its already better on 11.1 beta. You are also comparing 11.01 to 10.3.3. A fair comparison would be to 11.3.
I don't think so....we always compare the current release to the previous version....you can't look forward to compare it to something no one has yet.....that hasn't been released yet.

I get that but IOS 10 was not exactly bug free at launch.

If you want to get a feel for size differences, just go pick up a Galaxy S8 and hold it next to an iPhone 6/7/8+. I did this when I was shopping for the Note 8. The S8 is roughly what the X size will be since they both have nearly no bezel (and to me, any measurement of space that goes past the notch should not really be counted since most of it is missing... a way for Apple to claim a bigger display than they really have).

iOS releases got rougher with iOS7 and after.

Maybe this guy could help...

Haven’t tried wireless charging yet. But I didn’t think I would love the glass back this much.

I agree, Scott should have taken over Apple.

Compare Scott Forstall's recent Computer Museum interview with any Tim Cook interview. You can tell Scott has a passion for design, art, customers, and technology. That translates into the product. Further, like Steve, Scott can perfectly explain why something is the way it is. Tim Cook is completely incapable because he has no notion of the why.

Many ragged on skeuomorphism, but now that you hear Scott explain it, we know why it was the right choice. You think Tim Cook could possibly come close to explaining the design decisions behind Jony Ives' iOS7. LOL, yeah right.

Same here...the glass gives it a very nice feel in the hand.....

For the 10 minutes you hold it before putting it in a case to keep it from shattering if you drop it! And this is a complaint to both Apple and Samsung... lets find a durable material that is suitable for phone already.

I've yet to have a phone from any maker shatter. Like never.

The passion when he talks is very apparant.

That being said, I just bought an unlocked S8+ to try out for 30 days. B&H no restocking fee.

Last android device I had was the HTC One M8 that I i had for 5 days and went back to my iPhone 5 at the time.

Not sure if you are talking about you personally or picking at my words regarding the shattered... I'm talking about the back surface breaking if you drop it. If you are saying you've not personally had it happen... awesome for you. I actually haven't had it happen either, but its happened in my family in the 4/4s days.

My point is... why can't these companies spending billions on research come up with a surface that won't crack, break, shatter... if you drop it. Its a phone. I am watching the Google Pixel announcement and they just talked about how much research they did on the fabric for the Google Home Mini. Really? I'm just sick of either having to worry constantly about dropping it, or putting it in a case.

How are you finding the phone?

FaceID looks much slower than Iris Scanning. The moment I look at my Note 8 it Unlocks.

Let's hope they fix it before Nov 3.
Iris scanning has problems with glasses.
