and? 30-14 days who cares?! The point I was trying to make was he can literally try it in the real world to see if he likes it.

People are allowed to have unsubstantiated opinions.

For me it was a definite poor value for the money which is why I passed. There were plenty who thought otherwise but I saw little to no need to upgrade for that price.

Funny that people with an X are so eager to defend their overpriced purchase!

What's interesting, is I have read a few of your others posts in other threads and you're spreading misinformation about the iPhone X thoroughout. Nobody needs to defend their purchase of an iPhone X or anything in general, as long as they're satisfied, that's all that matters.

1. When I was on the plane, I saw a guy who looked exactly like me. No joke. Same haircut, same eye colour same hair etc… Must've been my evil twin…Or I was his evil twin, but I am sure that all of us have evil twins who'd be able to unlock our phones.
2. You could get a MacBook Air for that money already or a Mac mini and develop Unity games etc…
3. There are many better ways to invest money than iPhone X
4. It's just a phone. No matter how rich you are you don't actually need it, unless you won't unbox it and save it for the future to sell it for $10000. Oh, how I regret that I didn't buy the first iPhone. I was thinking about buying it but went with some Nokia instead. I would've probably unboxed it and used it, so it wouldn't be worth much nowadays, but do you think iPhone X will be a collectors item as well or no?

Ofcourse it is just a phone, as that is what it is...

1. Putting up a straw man is easy, having factual evidence is a whole different matter.
2. I don't need a MacBook Air or Mac Mini - I need a phone that I can take with me and make phone calls on where ever I go in the world connected to a variety of cellular and wifi networks. I already have a MacBook Pro for portable real world computer needs.
3. It's a phone, it is not an investment. I'm sorry but anyone even considering a mobile phone as an investment has got some serious issues.
5. Why would you regret not buying the first iPhone? I've got it, launched at 18:02 in the UK fully boxed. You are more than happy to buy it from me if you want.

But come on it is a phone; if you appreciate the plus size screen in a normal size package, the hugely better selfie camera, and the fantastic looks then get it. If you don't don't get one. This really doesn't have to be so hard.

I regard FaceID as a nice bonus on top, TouchID worked great for my needs as well, I find FaceID better integrated and quicker for my needs so I'm happy with it.

I already had the 6+, and the 7+, I simply didn't want another same looking phone and ideally something smaller. if the cost bothered me then I would have stuck with my 7+ as there was nothing wrong with it. But now my daughter is enjoying my old 7+ and I'm enjoying my X.

Well you’ve certainly got to be a fan of the brand to want an X, but let’s face it, its expensive. You don’t have to spend £1k to get an equally capable iPhone though. I just wish Apple put more effort into devices like the iPhone 8 despite it essentially being an X in a less shiny case.

I’m guessing many people feel the same judging by how few X’s I see in the city. The iPhone 6S and 7 seem to be the current kings of the boardroom which is reassuring.

Why do you have to be a fan? I don't understand the need for that kind of linking? It is a very good phone in its own right with a nice and up-to-date exterior with some extra feature over and above an 8. Great, no need to be a fan.

If your only criteria are equally capable then sure, although lets be honest it isn't, there are additional features, and a different look. Whether that is import is a individual decision.

Many boardrooms are filled with devices that are provided by a corporate contract and a corporate IT department. Especially so when you are talking about Tier 1 banks in the City. You cannot reasonably compare that to people individual buying choices. Same with my colleagues, I opted out, but they all have their corporate models. LOL Mainly because they hate iPhones and have their personal Androids :)

When I said fan I meant you’re either inspired by the design or needing the latest iPhone through preference. It costs a lot of money so you you need incentives to pay more I would say. If you want an iPhone with comparable performance then you can save a lot of money currently with an iPhone 8 and I think a lot of people view it like that.

I was only really commenting about boardrooms from a personal perspective and am aware every scenario is different. The iPhone is king in my line of work but it’s rare I see the latest one, including my own boss who has a personal fortune of over €100m lol. He’s the type of guy who loves his sports cars but if you tried to sell him a new iPhone, he’d ask you what his wrong with his 7 Plus. I attend a lot of meetings and have not seen an X yet in any of them. I think the 6S has been the longest serving phone next to the iPhone 4 in Apples history lol.

To be honest, if my daughter wasn't eyeing up my 7+ for our Christmas down under so she can take much better photos (was her justification) then I'd be more than happy to continue using my 7+ for another year. But as I don't need much encouragement I happily sacrificed myself and go my an X...Money, like with your boss, has absolutely nothing to do with it...Neither saving, nor spending it....

It's everything wrong with Apple these days: Ridiculous prices for inferior products.

The software, hardware and quality control just isn't good enough to warrant such high prices. We may have faster processors and better screens but all that is a given over time. Apples fit & finish just isn't there anymore, and no this isn't rose colored tinted glasses or nostalgia talking but I got a much more enjoyable and satisfying experience with their products under Steve.

So do you actually have one? It maybe your experience, I most definitely don't share it. The integration today of hardware, software across a multitude of device types and platforms is better than it has ever been before.

Yes, I tried one and returned. I was so excited about it, especially with that whole year of buzz and hype that I got caught into.
I actually loved it at first but soon noticed the same old software issues that plagues other more affordable iPhones. I somehow foolishly believed that due to the high cost the software on the X would be different with no stutters and less lag which unfortunately during my time with it I found to be still present. I also didn't think the notch was bothersome at first until I started using some apps where it was cutting into content in an obstructive way. GarageBand for example; if you go to the keyboard the notch cuts into the damn keys. It's the same for games, especially in landscape like racing. It would even cut into text in some of them. You can't view full screen photos that use the full screen ratio like with Snapchat without the notch cutting into them. Same for videos. It just seems a pointless waste of a bezelless display. They just haven't handled it very well at all and haven't thought these glaring details thoroughly.
I liked Face ID at first but it can't recognise my face when I'm in bed laying on my side for example. I kept having to type in the passcode more often than not.

I don't know where you've been lately but there's been nothing but complaints regarding iOS 11. The software is significantly worse than it's ever been before, not better. It's actually the main reason why I ended up returning my X. No matter how premium the hardware felt and how good the screen was (notch aside), the software just isn't worth 1k at all. The gestures were cool and seemed mostly slick and smooth but I still found frame drops in things like just swiping through open apps, the app store is an atrocious stutter fest, YouTube stutters, Twitter stutters and various other 3rd party apps. It just didn't feel good enough to me, especially after paying 1k for it. So with that and all the above I returned. If iOS 12 is any better and they improve upon the above issues then I might look into buying an X2 or whatever they call it, but for now it just isn't worth it to me at all.

im just posting so everyone sees my car :). I do love my X and the only reason I bought them, was so the wife and I could do the little Animoji together! we both had 6s versions (mine was the plus), and we watched the keynote on our 64Gb AppleTV on a 65" plasma and wanted to Animoji each other...sorry about the tech dropping, but it seems this thread devolved into what kind of luxury items people had and I didn't want to be left out!

I love my X and wouldn't return even if £999 was a pretty steep price to pay. I plan on holding onto mine for as lons as possible, though.

Apparently your view isn’t shared by many others. Witness:

“Research firm IDC said Friday that Apple overtook archrival Samsung in the fourth quarter as the largest smartphone seller in the world, with a 19.2 percent market share to Samsung’s 18.4 percent.”

Not to sound rude but I don't care. I don't care or obsess about numbers like people on here seem to. When did we as Apple fans start caring about that? Why should we care? Microsoft in the 90s didn't exactly have top notch quality software but Windows still sold in high numbers too. I'm not saying the X is that bad but numbers don't always equate to a quality product. A lot of people are liking their X and that's fine, it just isn't doing it for me in its current iteration, especially given its high asking price. Apple is in a position now where their products will sell in high numbers regardless of the quality. It's that Apple-loyalty people have towards the company. It doesn't mean all the issues I pointed out don't exist. They are just more bothersome to people like me than to people like you.

I have 2 houses, 6 Rolexes, 3 BMW’s, and 4 iPhone X’s.

The 4 iPhone X’s are my favorite.

You’ve put that very well. There are pretty much two smartphone brands that will always sell well and that’s Apple and Samsung. They both have issues with software but people like us upgrade to them anyway. Their impressive profit margins don’t mean the issues with software and hardware cease to exist like some think.

I’d say most of the time my experience with iOS is reliable and enjoyable, but it can be glitchy and frustrating. I will continue using iPhones though, just not in ignorant bliss.

HA!!! Love it!

Hmm something really doesn’t seem right there as well. No stutters or lag here at all. Not on my X nor my daughter 7+ nor my wife’s 7 nor my daughters SE, nor my iPad Pros. No botch cutouts or keyboard covering either. Absolutely amazing how two people can have such different experiences.

You can’t blame Apple for trying to push the 1k envelope for a phone. From their perspective, it was a good bet. Unfortunately the value isn’t there. Still a great device, but not for 1k
