Can't even comprehend the comments here about having to think before using 3D touch.
BB didn't have the same type of screens at the time of the iPhone and those keyboards were awesome.

However to the hyperbole of radon87000 3dt, imo is more efficient that long press to accomplish the seemingly same task, which you really can't because if the pressure sensitivity of 3dt. This 3dt accomplishes more but certainly you can use a computer without it. Macs don't have a right and left button, drives windows users up the wall.
Actually, no it's not. Pressure sensitivity efficiently trumps keeping your finger pressed on the screen for endless seconds on end allowing for more things that can be done with the interaction. So yeah, it can accomplish more.It is hyperbole to say 3dt can accomplish more. The functionality it brings to iPhone is not something that hasn't been done before by phone without a 3dt.
Also I have no idea why they call it "3D".

Well then using your own logic, wireless charging is the same as charging. Can't have your hyperbole both ways. And I never said apple removed long press, obviously phones like the 5s or SE or 6 or s8 don't have the hardware and can't do exactly the same thing as 3dt. Wireless charging using your logic doesn't bring anything new, you just wish it did.Hyperbole as well with your "endless seconds press". You can set the long press duration in Android to be as long or as short as you want. Nope, 3dt doesnt bring anything new. You just wish it did, that's all. btw: why apple didnt remove long press on IOS since you said 3dt can do the same and more?.

Accomplished the same end by plug it in with the added ability to use the phone while charging. By your logic wireless charging and plugging it in are almost the same. Can't have it both ways. 3dt is superior to long press and can do more regardless if you like 3dt or want to use it.Nope. Wrong analogy and over-generalization. For wireless charging - you do less work as you don't need to plug in cable. 3DT and long press is almost the same - press on screen then a form popup.

Endless seconds? Complete hyperbole. If I set the delay on Android close to 0.1 second it's faster than 3DT. Even on Windows I don't have to maintain pressure for right click. You can set it so that once you click and drag you can ease the pressure. iOS implementation is frankly speaking inferior. What's worse it requires dedicated hardware and 2 stages of pressure and complicates the simple things in an OS.Actually, no it's not. Wireless charging is groundbreaking. Once you use it you will never wanna go back. 3DT is not superior to long press as wireless charging is to conventional charging. What nonsense. You can't set the long press speed faster than the time to recognize a press. Which means it's inherently more inefficient. Even .1 second is not faster than 3dt because 3dt is pressure activated, not time based. This means the software automatically has more flexibility based on pressure, not on inefficient clicks. I don't know anybody(except my 90 year old aunt) that has trouble with pressure. And if you do, long press will be an issue as well. This is why accessibility features are built into IOS.Endless seconds? Complete hyperbole. If I set the delay on Android close to 0.1 second it's faster than 3DT. Nope that's your logic. Wireless charging is an apt analogy, based on your logic of 3dt(and IOS in general).Nope. That's your logic. You gave the wireless charging analogy not me. And you have not told us anything HOW is 3dt superior? Can it do anything other than popup a form when press on the screen (like a long press).
your logic of 3dt(and IOS in general).
As far as why 3dt is superior, please re-read the posts again. But I guess in that vein, wireless charging is just charging, which all phones already do.
Can you show me a video of how long press can do a peek and pop with an option to dismiss the pop-up or alternatively have the pop-up fill the screen? If you do that I'll show a video of 3dt doing the same thing? I"m sure long press can do that, just not as efficiently as 3dt.
Let's say using the native mail app.
Not even close, the thing about 3dt is you can go "back" by releasing the pressure. That is why your long press is not superior to 3dt.How about this one? Similar to what your "superior" 3dt
Not even close, the thing about 3dt is you can go "back" by releasing the pressure. That is why your long press is not superior to 3dt.
And there you go, if you want to actually work with that item 3dt until haptic feedback, can't do that with long press. Which is the case for the mail app, light pressure lets you review, more pressure edit, back off pressure original screen. Not sure what you are saying. The video showed long press popup comes up, release your finger popup goes away/
I have none of interface issues you describe. But everybody is different. Can't speak for the music app as I no longer load music on my device....use Siriusxm.lol....3DT has been out for how long now? What 2 plus years? Apple still can't get 3DT to work correctly on their own music app. All it gives it is a search and beats playlist that does not exist as i don't even have a beats playlist.
Why not let me scroll through my existing playlists?
Then try deleting an app.....press too hard it does 3dt....don't press hard enough nothing happens. Most of the time i get useless options that add to the complexity of what I was trying to do rather than make things easier.
I always forget it is there to be honest. So on Siriusxm....what options do you have with their music app?I have none of interface issues you describe. But everybody is different. Can't speak for the music app as I no longer load music on my device....use Siriusxm.
And 3dt is optional, you can turn it off if you don't like it.

3DT is definitely taking more than 0.1 second to launch. The animation itself takes probably 0.1 seconds while long press is instant. What nonsense. Even .1 second is not faster than 3dt because 3dt is pressure activated, not time based.
Holding the 7 Plus in one hand itself is a challenge. Applying pressure on top of that and maintaining it all the while trying to read what you are previewing is almost an invitation to drop the phone. This means the software automatically has more flexibility based on pressure, not on inefficient clicks. I don't know anybody(except my 90 year old aunt) that has trouble with pressure. And if you do, long press will be an issue as well. This is why accessibility features are built into IOS
Long press does the same thing 3DT does and is more comfortable to use.3dt overall is a much design overall than long press, which is a non-innovative and inefficient way of enhancing screen interaction.
Either 3dt is innovative and so is wireless charging or neither are. Take your pick. According to you long press is better, according to me plugging it in is better. Purely subjective.
Besides 3D Touch I do like the subtle taps from the Taptic engine. Its subtle like the apple watch.
Yes im sure you can, but the vibration motor in the iPhone is different. I dont think any other phone right now has the same feeling. Its subtle, not intrusive and just feels right.3DT is definitely taking more than 0.1 second to launch. The animation itself takes probably 0.1 seconds while long press is instant.
And while you are peeking and popping your way around, I guarantee I am much faster actually going into the mail and deleting and archiving it because I am not struggling to hold the phone whilst maintaining pressure.

Long press does not involve pressure. You hold your finger on top of the icon like you always do
Long press does the same thing 3DT does and is more comfortable to use.
3DT is not offering anything which long press can't do. Wireless charging is offering an actual feature which conventional charging doesn't offer
You can set Android phones to vibrate on long press.
Or like long press is ambiguous and confusing.OK. Get what you are getting at.
But most of the use cases in your video just do the single pressure press like you do with long press on Android. Why is that? Maybe because the different pressure level press is kind of ambiguous and confusing?
Have you actually timed this? I'm guessing not, which makes it hyperbole.3DT is definitely taking more than 0.1 second to launch. The animation itself takes probably 0.1 seconds while long press is instant.
Ive already determined the status of 5 or 6 emails whilst your long pressing trying to figure things out of one email. I don't struggle to maintain pressure any more than click and drag under Windows. And while you are peeking and popping your way around, I guarantee I am much faster actually going into the mail and deleting and archiving it because I am not struggling to hold the phone whilst maintaining pressure.
That's your challenge, not mine though.Holding the 7 Plus in one hand itself is a challenge. Applying pressure on top of that and maintaining it all the while trying to read what you are previewing is almost an invitation to drop the phone.
It's also inefficient and those who do click and drag on Windows will be used to it.Long press does not involve pressure. You hold your finger on top of the icon like you always do
No it doesn't and I've posted the video as proof.Long press does the same thing 3DT does and is more comfortable to use.
I've yet to see evidence long press offers the same functionality as 3D Touch.3DT is not offering anything which long press can't do. Wireless charging is offering an actual feature which conventional charging doesn't offer
