I already have a DMR/DMA account with a couple movies in it...my question is when you are on DMA's site, and want to purchase an older movie on there (not using any codes), it gives you several options on where you would like to buy the movie from (itunes, vudu, google, etc). So my question is when you buy the movie from itunes, for instance, is that movie available only through itunes, or is it available on every other service, like when you use a code?

If your iTunes account is linked to your DMA account.....then anything you buy in iTunes will show up in DMA and all your other linked accounts.

That's really the beauty of DMA. You link all your accounts and it doesn't matter where you buy. It shows up everywhere.

Isn't there any UK codes too get as take out the ones linked are US ones? I don't have a US iTunes account, as I want to keep it simple and just use my current UK account.

I intend on getting all the UK apps that I need from the UK app store, then shift over to my US account and just leave it on that.

End of the day, the US prices are going to be far cheaper than any UK codes if they were to be available so I'm happy to continue down this route if it means an easier way to get a collection going.

Can someone pm me the popular places to get iTunes codes? Especially for non-Disney movies. I can find all kinds of UV codes sellers but less iTunes.

I agree prices has always been an issue but I want to stick with my UK account. So there's no way to get any UK codes, only US?

Thanks

This link will show all popular sites for iTunes movies. http://ultravioletcinema.com/getuv.php?q=ITUNES

Not all movies will be available for iTunes. Some movies will be UV only but that site will filter just iTunes movies for you.

I got a DC+ copy of Disney Shorts today and redeemed via Amazon. I have the movie and points. So easy. Showed right up in DMA, iTunes and AppleTV.

When you purchase via DMA on an iPhone you are taken to iTunes. You don't actually buy the movie via DMA but through their partners. And if you were to just buy an HD movie via iTunes you get points as well.

Beethoven is on sale Sunday for $5
Also the weekend deal was/is Dances with Wolves for $5

No specific aversion just for easy use, I do still have three aTV3s that I'll still use as lot, don't want the hassle of changing accounts to see certain stuff etc, has to be wife friendly

Stuff like what? Just curious as I'm trying to convince my wife the merits of having the new ATV so I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts.

Thought you had to swap in settings the account to access certain movies bought in the relevant accounts?

Either way a while ago I had a US account for apps as well and when using iCloud it got a bit messed up when restoring etc due to different accounts and passwords so would rather stay with UK

I’ve only ever redeemed movies in my US account so I don’t have any issues on that front.

Apps wise, you can switch accounts, download the apps from the US store for example and then switch back to your UK account if need be.

Good luck in your search for UK codes anyway!

Back on topic…

Going from only my MCU Phase Two redeemed films, I’m now up to 51 in the space of a couple of weeks – snagged Self/less for $2 last night. Probably gonna stop there for a while and see what happens over Christmas in regards to sales.

I was looking up some Blu-ray prices for most Marvel movies and they seem to hover around $20. I used to think I was getting a good deal by buying digital copies from iTunes when I buy iTunes credit at 20% off but now I'm wondering if we're going about this the wrong way.

If a Blu-ray costs $20 and it comes with a digital copy (DC+ and DMA/DMR) and you save one digital copy for yourself while selling the other, aren't you effectively getting an $8 discount? I'm just wondering how I never realized this before seeing this thread. If you're spending $20 a movie on iTunes, might as well just get it on Blu-ray with a digital copy. The crazy thing is a lot of Blu-rays which include a digital copy (take for example Fast Five) sell for less than the digital copy on iTunes.

But this thread is showing you that you don't have to pay $20 for a digital copy....

What are these people selling codes doing with the Blurays? Are they buying them, ripping them for themselves and selling the codes? I'm guessing that's what most are doing.

Think about a Disney movie. If they are ripping it....they basically are selling 2 codes to people, almost covering the cost of the movie. Biggest downside to this is you don't have any digital copies since you have to maintain your library locally.

The other thing to think about are movies that don't have multiple codes. Aren't the Disney movies one of the few that give multiple redemptions?

I'll be honest....I have no idea about how the codes work in Blurays since I've never bothered with them. I prefer the digital copy in the cloud (even though I don't technically own it). And this thread has opened a whole new world. I never use to buy anything other than some series that the family will watch all the time. Now with these codes, I'm expanding that even more.

I also started getting some good movies on Vudu. There are a ton of good movies that don't and will never have iTunes codes. Hoping Vudu comes to the ATV4......but until then I'm watching them on my TiVo.

EDIT: and the D2D (Disc to Digital) method for Vudu is interesting, if not a little more shady. If you want to expand your UV library, you can really get a lot with D2D....if you are ok with that.

Lol agreed. I guess what I'm trying to say is, I don't know if I should pay $8 for a digital copy of a Disney movie, or buy the Blu-ray for $20, sell one code for $8, and I get to have a complete physical and digital set for just $12.

And if you can find someone to buy the physical copy for $8 - then you got yourself a digital movie for $2. Although that's a lot of work unless you have someone say in your office that likes to buy Blurays from you.

If you want to own a physical copy then I'd say go for it.

Do you guys have OCD when it comes to having everything in one format (like iTunes) or do you not care if you have a mix and match of movies on iTunes, Google Play, and UV?

I am starting to realize that iTunes is very limited in its selection of codes. I try to keep my as many movies as possible on iTunes (I LOVE seeing all my Marvel movies on my iPhone/iPad) but don't mind branching out to Google Play if I have to. The one thing I can't do is mix and match movies in a series (like having 3 Fast and Furious movies on iTunes and the rest on UV, or Harry Potter).

I find Google Play is much cheaper for a TV series like Game of Thrones so I don't mind buying a complete TV series on Google Play.
