Will AT&T or Apple (via Applecare) offer an equipment replacement program?

Will AT&T or Apple (via Applecare) offer an equipment replacement program?

Cellphone service providers usually offer some sort of equipment replacement program (insurance). The subscriber pays $4 or $5 a month for insurance that replaces the unit with a refurbished model if the unit breaks or is lost/stolen.

However, most new cellphone models that hit the market are NOT covered by the provider's insurance vendor. It usually takes a 3-6 months before the insurance companies are ready to cover new models.

Plunking down $599 for a new model cellphone better come with some sort of ERP. Otherwise, I'm waitin'.

Finally, what happens when Safari encounters a website that requires Flash for navigation (such as www.comcast.net).

Bluetooth and the dock connector

What Bluetooth profiles does it support?

Does it actually work (tested) with:
- your carkit
- your voice headset (brand?)
- your computer (as a modem or network access device)
- your speakers or hifi headset (Bluetooth A2DP profile) (brand? model?)
- your car stereo for playing music over Bluetooth (again A2DP) and skipping songs etc. (brand? model?)
- your car stereo using the dock connector (brand?)
- a Bluetooth keyboard or mouse (brand?)

Do your iPod dock connector accessories work with the iPhone? Which ones?

Sealed battery?

How does one replace the battery? Looks like another one of those "you didn't pay quite enough for this the first time around, let us charge you for a battery replacement kind of product." This concerns me because I think this thing will eat up batteries. They should be user replaceable!!

Would you really use the dock, or get a DLO impact type case and just use the firewire cable.

Message waiting icons?

I'm curious whether you will be able to tell if you have a message waiting for you (SMS or voice) without turning the thing on.

Let's say I step away from my phone for awhile and when I come back I want to have a quick glance to see if I've got any missed calls or messages waiting. Do you have to go through the trouble of waking it up and sliding that little thing at the bottom to be able to tell this? Or will there be some little icon in the menu bar that serves as an indicator from the "locked phone" screen (where the slider thing is)

One thing I love about my current phone is the display on the outside that lets me know just by looking at it if I missed anything.
