Guys -

I'm going crazy here watching all these shipping notifications wondering when my MacBook Air 1.8/64gb SSD model is going to ship! I ordered it at 10:41am PST the morning of the keynote as soon as the Apple Store came back online.

Being so patient...... What about all you others out there that got the same model???

Aaron
I ordered a 1.8/SSD as well... obsessively checking the order status every hour or so. If this thing doesn't ship until Feb 6 like the page says, this is going to be a very long week for me.

Guess I'll call the Apple Store here again today and see if they're getting 1.8/SSDs in this week as rumored (no way am I getting a 1.6/80).

Mine is now in transit, Fedex is saying delivery on Friday by 10:30am. Just like Apple said in their original "shipped" email to me.

For all of you guys saying "this is the worst pre-order ever", my opinion is that it's going exactly as planned. Steve said they would commence shipping on Tuesday, and obviously has planned a Friday launch...in the stores and in the hands of consumers. By pre-ordering the base model early enough after the keynote, you are essentially guaranteeing to get one of the first ones, rather than fight for available inventory in the stores.

I'm 100% positive that Apple planned the MBA's to "miss the Fedex cutoff". Fedex must have been clued in to this shipment way in advance and had it well planned to arrive at various destinations in the USA. I think that also explains why the quickest option the day of the keynote was 2-3 days? If there were an overnight option, I would have selected it, but unless I'm mistaken about overnight not being available, again it's Apple planning to make sure everyone gets theirs at the same time on Friday.

Finally, why the base model? It's easy to imagine that any custom order will take extra time. I agree it sucks that the more expensive "stock" configuration isn't shipping at the same time apparently, but I guess I'm not surprised. All I can say is that if I were to place a bet (which I did), it would be that the base model would be out the door first. Everything else is an unknown and thus a gamble.

Shipped!!

I ordered a 1.6/80 @ 10:50Am on the 15th. Changed the shipping (for free) to expedited on the 27th. Shipped overnight but recieved by Fedex after cutoff. It does state "left origin" 10 minutes after "picked up". The "picked up" line is the one that says recieved after cutoff.

So if 2-3 day is correct, Weds-Thurs-Fri, I should have it this week. Of course Fedex never actually rings the bell, they just leave one of those stickers, so I will probably have to pick it up Sat at the depot.

The Fedex page does not show an estimated delivery date, but the Apple email says Monday.

Check your Apple order again. There may be a link to "pre-release" this shipment with your signature, meaning you print out the form, sign it and put it on your door, and Fedex will in theory leave it.

Some of you people are impossible to please. Apple states 2-3 weeks very clearly when you order, and here we are at 2 weeks and 1 day and you're proclaiming "worst pre-order ever." I'm as excited as anyone, but I won't be upset till it's been 3 weeks and it still hasn't shipped.

Personally I ordered as soon as the store came online after the keynote, but my CC number was used by someone else the next day, so I was issued a new number and when I updated my credit card info two days later, my order date/time changed. Also, I ordered a 1.8/80 so it seems I'd be delayed anyways.

Also what I find interesting is that all the models on display at Mac World were base models, as well as all the units sent for reviews. Perhaps the 1.8 or SSD drive versions are simply not ready yet.

Either way, I can't wait to go to the Apple Store and play while I wait for my 1.8/80 to arrive.

MacAir Ships

Hey guy & gals,

Here is my $.02 on the shipping. I've tried to read all the posts so it maybe a repeat. The Macbook Air 1.6/80 should be shipping for Friday delivery for all preorders. The custom ones will take longer. It is easier to produce the same config when doing a mass ship. Most likely the stores will only have the standard config too. Apple doesn't want custom preorders being cancelled.

I ordered the 1.6/80 on the 17th upgraded free to Overnight yesterday, but still shows not shipped.:)

Somewhat annoying. I had it shipping upgraded few days ago but the e-mail says standard shipping. Just called Apple again and this gentleman says that it was expedited but 2 to 3 days is the fastest shipping with laptop excluding weekend. So technically shipped today, three business day is Monday... which is my estimate for arrival.

I guess won't see mine until Monday. We'll have to figure out what else to do over the weekend. :( Kind of feels like Christmas being delayed for few days....

Any Amazon orders change status yet?

Not yet, but I'm thinking that maybe Friday too...I've read where they're supposed to start shipping this week per an Amazon CS rep on one of the Amazon discussions. I have a feeling that Apple has probably already distributed supplies to their authorized resellers and they are just waiting for the go ahead.

Doesnt look like its today

Hey all, just called my local Apple store here near NYC and they said they do not have them in yet. God, I really am not going to be able to wait until Friday.

I also called the 5th ave Apple store and for 20 minutes there was 6 calls ahead of me. So I guess some other folks are calling a little early too LOL.

Who else is waiting to buy it in store?
