Why cool? You could have been playing with your MB Air all weekend if you picked it up in the store today.

This is not directed at you specifically (for all I know, you may be living a couple of days drive from the nearest Apple store), but I just can't understand why people pre-order stuff, when 9 times out of 10 it shows up in the stores before they get it in the mail. Well, perhaps it's the thrill of anticipation, I dunno :rolleyes:

Still NO confirmed retail store sales.

anyone know if... a usb 2.0 bus powered hard drive will work with it? some posts on amazon seem to think that you need a usb y cable to get enough power. that would of course mean no for the air. however i'm wondering if the souped up usb 2.0 outlet for the superdrive will do it for me.

Most usb powered hard drives (not flash drives) do have the Y cable that plugs into 2 usb ports which the mba only has one of. I'm guessing that most usb powered hard drives will not work, but I guess we'll find out in a day or so when people start messing with them.

I have 2 USB drives, WD and Seagate, both 120gb that work great in just 1 USB port.:)

I'm pretty sure that the 1.8/80 Configure To Order setup I ordered will NOT be an in-store stock item.

Yeah, why bother with the additional 0.2 GHz of clock speed? I figured that with the educational discount, the extra 0.2 GHz (= 12.5% of clock speed) only cost an additional 9.4% in terms of price, so it wasn't too onerous and in my mind, this future proofs the computer a bit longer (in terms of resale value not actual real life/noticeable performance). I figure I can always upgrade the 80GB HD later on as SSD prices inevitably drop.

I'm near 2 Apple Stores, but I'm not wanting to deal with having to scramble for a laptop as I have to work all weekend.

Thats all,

Dave

looking at booq or belkin- there were a few more random brands.... but what are others thinking?

sfbags.com I ordered and have received my waterfield bag, for my MacBook Air. The attention to detail, the quality of material, the gestalt is impressive.

The bag can be ordered in a horizontal, or vertical orientation. With or without a strap, D-rings, and a piggyback pocket.

Mine has D-rings, and a piggyback. The piggyback clips on to the D-rings and allows me to take some other items, when needed.

My bag came to $88, and looks to be more expensive then it's price.

Someone posted yesterday that Fedex charged him $12, to have his MBA delivered on Saturday.

I think he meant that he was able to give her his CC information so she might possibly charge him on Saturday. I also called yesterday and tried to set it up, but was told that I couldn't do that, and only the 'sender' (=Apple?) could amend shipping options... But I'm sure if you are trying persistently enough, someone can do it for you!

Looks like my MBA which had an estimated delivery date of the 4th will be delivered today according to FedEx!

CSR told me it was because I had overnight shipping.

Mine is on the delivery vehicle and I actually only had 2-3 day shipping. I don't think overnight makes a difference whatsoever... unless it would include sat delivery...

Mine is on the truck for delivery too!

Very impressive. I had pretty much decided that I would never pre-order again, but this is better than driving to the Apple store. I'll pre-order again in the future.

Strange. I'm in the New York area (Brooklyn) and the last thing my tracking info shows is international shipping release. Did I miss the boat to Newark? :(
