Cant stand this new notification system. I was hoping it was a bug and would be fixed. Bu I guess I shouldn’t hold my breath…

I can’t believe that passed multiple rounds of design reviews and UAT testing, and everyone thought, “Yup! That’s cool. People will love this!”

To quote the antithesis of the Capital One commercial: “Dumbest decision in the history of decisions.”

I just sent feedback asking for possibility to ALSO be able to swipe up from Home Screen ..

Thanks. It was the default lock screen photo years ago. Can those be saved or am I out of luck?
I have the same issue, I have a photo of sentimental value that I've had on my lock screen for over 12 years. It's original 320 x 240. When you got the 12 Max it upgraded my picture with perfect resolution, I have the original but whenever I try to ad it as a Lock Screen its all blurry even with zooming and tweaking, idk how to access the upgraded picture and I can't recreate it.

This is what everybody should be doing really. The more feedback they get, the more they might listen a little bit. As much as we like to think they see complaints in these forums, that's unlikely.

That said, admittedly I don't know the best link and best place to do this... I know it's been posted around here but I can't find it, if anybody has it handy!

Thanks SO MUCH for your invaluable contribution. Suddenly I have faith in the world. 🙄
But this is what's wrong with people, within seconds after a new thing start complaining about it without giving it due time to assess weter it's actually worse or just new.

And I can tell you already that for 99% of you it's just new and you'll get used to it within weeks.

And you know how I know this because every new big IOS update you get these exact threads complaining about everything for the first few weeks and then it dies down because nobody cares. Prime example being the notch.

Sure, maybe we will get used to the less intuitive way of doing it, but that doesn’t make it right. How nice for Apple that they can do something stupid that doesn’t solve anything and our only choice is to get used to it.

I do agree complaining just for the sake of complaining is useless, and some of that always happens. But lumping all new complaints into that category is a generalization on your part. There are productive comments/threads here as well. We can provide feedback. If the feedback helps, great. If nothing changes, great as well, and at that point we'll have to get used to it or make a change.

Again, assumptions.

It could also die down because they don't change it and there's no choice but to drop it - not because nobody cares. 99% of people get used to because they have to, not necessarily because it's a good change.

Just because everybody can get used to something and stop complaining about it doesn't mean it's a worthwhile or "good" change that shouldn't be questioned.

Still hate the notch. Also, we are talking about not even seeing some notifications. Sorry, but that’s a pretty big deal.

I’ve not upgraded(??) yet, but from what I’m reading here, this reminds me of the behavior of showing old notifications: you’d have to drag upwards on the notifications screen to show old notifications. It’s always been an extra step that annoyed me and I didn’t even know it was like that until I accidentally found it, as with so much of this stupid OS anymore.

So what people are saying here is that this is the default way of showing all notifications now??

And yet, sometimes it does as well. It's oddly inconsistent - either that, or something I'm doing or something I tweaked made it appear when it should (which is the more likely scenario!).
This is one of the red flags of bad design and unfixed bugs: inconsistent behaviors. This is a common complaint for me with Apple’s software now.

I haven't "upgraded" yet but it sounds like once again we are all beta testers. Why don't they take longer and get it right? Every single release has big problems.
Because Apple have the Wall Street needle in their vein.

I don’t think it’s a bug per se. It’s too obvious to be a bug that lasted through all the betas. It’s probably working as they intended, but it’s clearly not the best user experience. I wonder why all the beta testers weren’t as vocal about this during the betas?
Maybe they were vocal. Apple have a long history of ignoring their users.

Apple have been making bad GUI design decisions since 2013 and it doesn’t seem near the end of that.

I recall reading that Joni Ive left all the UI people out of the iOS 7 reskin process, putting it on the print design people to do (probably read it on one of the news sites). I suspect the GUI experts of Apple’s famed history are long gone from the company.

I’m with you. I feel bad for my parents, they are in their 70s and this new way is definitely going to confuse them since you basically don’t see your notifications unless you look for them.
iPhone and iPad went from being the best tech device to promote to my parents, to just another tech industry disaster, as of iOS 7. My parents were doing great with iOS prior to iOS 7. Then it all went to hell. I feel bad getting them on these devices, but the alternatives are still a bit worse. Apple went from “superior” to “less bad” and I’m not happy.

Honestly I don’t like it either but it’s fine and I’ll get used to it.
This here is why we are dominated by corporations. They DON’T know better than us. They keep trying to squeeze blood from stone. We have no agency, and there’s been an ongoing social engineering process to make everyone compliant and afraid to object (because “you just don’t understand tech”, “nothing is perfect”, “what billion dollar corporation did YOU found”, and just general “complaining bad”).
