Thought I'd chime in after watching the dialog for the past weeks. Ordered my M1 Ultra 48 core GPU 64 GB ram with 4TB SSD through B&H, a US reseller on March 9th (the day after the Mc Studio announcement) I'm still awaiting a notification that it's been shipped to the reseller (June 2). The reseller told me earlier this week I'm next on the list to receive my order, so I'm guessing the delay - since others have been other M1 Ultra's ordered after mine and delivered before mine that the delay is likely from ordering the larger 4TB SSD. Any thoughts other than this reseller prioritizing other custom orders before mine as to why this order seems to be so late?

Should have nothing to do with your hard disk; others use resellers, too; that shouldn't add more than a few days.
You're a candidate for the longest wait, I guess.

My understanding is that your order will go to Louisville and then to Montréal. If that turns out to be incorrect, it would be interesting to know. I guess the question is how long Canada Customs takes to clear the package.
I'll keep y'all updated.
But I really don't see how it could arrive tomorrow. Maybe saturday if I'm lucky and Apple pays for the delivery on saturdays.

I don't see a lot of 4TB SSDs on the big list. Only one has been delivered, and that was just yesterday. It was ordered just a few days after yours. I'd be guessing why an order identical to yours, but ordered a bit later, would arrive before yours. I'd guess that it had to do with the reseller. Perhaps they didn't transmit their order to Apple right away? Maybe resellers get a lower priority than direct orders? We can only speculate, given the lack of hard data.

Hey, what common ranges are we seeing from shipment date to delivery date at the moment? If anyone has it in their head as this is a large thread to analyze.

Regardless of whether your order is on UPS61 or UPS63, it should arrive in Louisville by 1 AM tonight. Tomorrow's UPS flight 474 from Louisville to Montréal is scheduled to leave at 4 AM and arrive just before 6 AM (see below). Unsurprisingly, the flight lands at Mirabel rather than Dorval, but that only adds about 55km (30mi) of driving into Montréal. Depending on how fast the package clears Canada Customs, it may well be delivered tomorrow. If not tomorrow, it looks highly probable that you'll receive your Mac Studio on Saturday.

By the way, it should be clear from UPS tracking by now whether your Studio is on UPS61 or 63. If the tracking shows a stop in Taiwan, it's UPS61.

This morning's flight UPS474 departed several hours late. Hopefully that doesn't happen tomorrow :)

Oh wow thanks for this!!
It doesn't show a stop to Taiwan, and according to the time it left and the time on UPS website, both are 7:01PM so it certainly seems to be on the 63.

If it actually arrives tomorrow, it would have taken only 4 days to ship!

Shenzhen to Hong Kong and Hong Kong to the destination are quick. The holdup is Hong Kong airport, where orders can sit for 2-5 days due to an apparent freight backlog.

Just got the shipment notification

  • R3k/March 31/Ultra 20 CPU/48 GPU/64 GB/1TB/exp.May20-June20/Processing
  • May 31st Status = Preparing to Ship, delivery envelope reduced to June 6th
  • June 2nd Status = Shipped, expected delivery date June 3rd (1 day)
Tracking is provided by www.deliver-it.com, so no idea which provider is actually flying it over to the US West coast.

Lets see if that window works out, as its not in line with everyone else's experiences. I guess there is a chance it was shipped a few days ago and they only updated the info now that its 24 hours away 🤷‍♂️
That said, deliver-it status is = awaiting package.

No idea about that tracking service, but FWIW my delivery to California was 100% via UPS, from HK to my doorstep. Great news that you are getting yours so quickly in any case!

Who did you order from? Sounds like it was a reseller rather than Apple. As far as I can tell, UPS and DHL are handling all orders from Apple, including tracking for those orders.

Direct from the Apple website. Deliver-it.com sounds like a freight broker so they almost certainly pass it onto someone else.

Interesting. First time that I've seen a company other than UPS handling a US order from Apple's website. Basically, it appears that Apple has been contracting directly with UPS rather than using a broker. It will be interesting to see if UPS is the actual carrier in your case, or whether it's someone else.

Interesting! Guess there is a chance they sent a pile of stock to a warehouse stateside and are sending individual units from there, we see.

Also a possibility. If your Ultra is in China, it's the only Mac Studio I know of where a company other than UPS is involved in a U.S. delivery. If the computer is already in the U.S., that's also consistent with the estimate of delivery tomorrow.

Looking more into deliver-it, it does seem more likely than not that the unit is indeed already state side. They seem to be more of a courier service that only operates in a handful of US states.

I've been following this for a few weeks and haven't seen Apple US deliver a Mac Studio from its own inventory before. However, it happened in the UK roughly a week ago. Someone received his Studio directly from Apple UK rather than from China.

It's quite possible that Apple US is now dividing up units that it receives between stores/resellers and individual customers who have orders outstanding, possibly giving priority to customers. That's what appears to have happened in the UK.

Personally my Studio Display came from Mississauga, Ontario and I live in Montreal. I don't know if it's different for the displays?

I mean, it clearly didn't come directly from where it was made...

MacRumors has a thread with this title every time that Apple releases a new computer largely because customers normally receive their built to order computer directly from China. That's been the case with the Mac Studio, and it was also the case when I ordered a 2018 Mac mini.

In the month or so that I've been following this thread, I've only seen one person - the fellow in the UK that I mentioned - receive his Mac Studio from Apple's local operation rather than from China. @R3k may be the second case.

I don't know how displays are being handled.

Btw mine is not built to order, if that’s a factor.
