That sound quite maddening and I'm glad I don't have that problem. The worst issue I had was having to abandon my old "master/slave" power setup, but my current setup uses so little power that I don't mind.1 very annoying issue so far. After the computer goes to sleep (or rather the monitors shutting off) and then waking back up again...
And FWIW, I have have had a lot of monitor issues with my MBA, with multiple monitors and several problems. So far, all of my monitor problems of late have been solved by the same issue: using high-quality cable with all the latest support. This has especially been true for HDMI cables. Using known good ones that support HDMI 2.1 has cured all of the multitude of issues I have experienced. I even replaced factory cables that *came with my brand new LG monitor* that the manual said to be sure to use! Anyway, maybe worth a few bucks to try out if it applies to you. Good luck.
