Mine was 21-22 March (Ordered minutes after launch), but today has just changed from Preparing to Ship, to this:

Gutted, hope its going to update back to what it was :/
Mine too :(. Gone back from ā€˜Preparing to Shipā€™ to ā€˜Processingā€™, and with the ā€˜arrivesā€™ date changed from 21-22nd March to 1st-5th April.

Ours must be in the same shipment!

Ordered base Studio Max + 1TB, Studio Display (swivel) a few minutes after the event. Studio Max give March 31-April 6 delivery. Studio Display, launch day.

Studio Max went to "preparing for shipping" last Friday. Still there. No additional CC pre-auth or charge other than original when ordered. No tracking on either MyChoice or "by reference".

Studio Display went to "preparing for shipping" Monday. A charge for it was put on my CC then too, though it's still "pending." No tracking on this one either.

I've been buying Apple stuff direct from Apple for 15 years so I have a little experience here. Many times my pre-orders were already en route to Apple's PA warehouse before I ordered. The "prepared for shipping" meant product was allotted to me but a U.S. based tracking label (as opposed to an International one) wasn't applied until a day before the item shipped (I'm only 1 delivery day away from the PA warehouse).

So I expect to see tracking on the display tomorrow for launch day delivery. It would be great if the Mac was delivered on Friday too since it was first to go to "preparing for Shipping," but I think the ship date I was given may have been based more on UPS's ability to deliver than Apple's own supply of Studio Max w/ 1TB. But I am thinking I'll get delivery before March 31 as my Apple orders almost always get delivered well before the promised date, and those days, as of now, have not changed since I placed my order.

TLDR; Apple frequently ships product direct to its regional warehouses ahead of announcing the product. Not all new product ships from China direct to customers. Product that is stockpiled at the warehouse will get a tracking label much closer to launch day. Many Apple warehouses are only 1 delivery day away from large metro areas.

Based on everyoneā€™s UPS tracking info here, they are shipping these directly from the Foxconn factory.

Nothing like waiting until the last minute lol. Hope it shows on Friday and not Monday.

I'm on that 5X109 flight as well, like so many others. :)

My Studio Display departed Narita at the same time.

Where did you get the flight information?

Right, based on everyone here who has tracking info. Most units will ship direct to consumer from China, but many of the early orders will ship from stock shipped to regional warehouses ahead of the announcement. Apple didn't start production last Tues, it made it's announcement then. Production likely ramped up a month ago and started stockpiling inventory at regional warehouses. The orders shipping direct from the warehouses do not have tracking info yet but they will get delivered on time.

Again, I have many, many years experience pre-ordering Apple products and have had lots of pre-order products that shipped to me from Apple's PA warehouse, not the factory.

And I have a keyboard being shipped to me from a US warehouse, but my Studio display is coming from China. You can see the difference in UPS My Choice.

The fact that something is true sometimes does not mean itā€™s true all the time. Keeping product in a warehouse for months is wasteful and inefficient.

Ours could be in a batch from China, and Apple could have still had units prepped to ship within certain countries
Mine specifically (which aligns with others) has already left China. It came directly from the Foxconn factory. This is what UPS tracking says. I donā€™t see anyone here who has shipping info from somewhere else.

Yes, as has mine.

All I was saying is that for others that do not have this tracking info but had Launch day notices, those units could already be in the appropriate country awaiting to be shipped.

Have seen it in the past

Everyone here who has March 18 delivery ordered within the first 5mins. Weā€™re also in the middle of a pandemic with major supply chain issues. Itā€™s clear by the slipping delivery dates. We canā€™t just assume because they did it one way in 2019 that theyā€™re doing it the same way now.
