And I have a keyboard being shipped to me from a US warehouse, but my Studio display is coming from China. You can see the difference in UPS My Choice.

The fact that something is true sometimes does not mean it’s true all the time. Keeping product in a warehouse for months is wasteful and inefficient.

I don't think we disagree - I even said most pre-order product will come direct from China. I'm just pointing out it's highly likely that some Studio Macs and Displays will come from the regional warehouses too and those may not have tracking info until tomorrow. Also, Apple does aim to keep a 4-week inventory in warehouses -- obviously not always possible the last couple of years. Apple execs, usually TC, often reiterate this inventory goal when asked about inventory levels during earnings calls.

The mac studio didn’t have pre-orders though. And everyone here who has March 18 delivery ordered within the first 5mins. We’re also in the middle of a pandemic with major supply chain issues. It’s clear by the slipping delivery dates. We can’t just assume because they did it one way in 2019 that they’re doing it the same way now.

If the Mac Studio didn't have pre-orders why are we watching a pre-order thread and why are the reviews still embargoed? Of course the Mac Studio is in a pre-order stage.

I don't really understand the rest of what you are saying. I ordered minutes after the event - did not get launch day delivery for my Mac Studio. Delivery dates are dependent on 1) what configuration was ordered and 2) when ordered. As for supply chain issues or slipping dates - huh? I didn't even speak to that, only that some launch day units will ship from local warehouses. Also, I'm not assuming anything (though my last pre-order was for the M1 Pro MBP, which was definitely not in 2019, never stated anything as fact -- just presenting my view and experience as another potential data point. Why so feisty?

You’re right I was wrong.

uhh, because it's a forum? They all turn angry sooner or later...
Wasn’t angry. People just always assume when someone disagrees they must be angry instead of simply having a conversation.

Foxconn factories in Shenzhen have reopened with workers locked down on campus. It isn’t clear to me whether they can ship product out, however.

Our Mac Studios have landed! :D

My Max/64GB/1TB still says 18-22 and "preparing to ship." I'd assume if others have shipped with tracking numbers and I don't, that my 18-22 isn't going to be accurate.

Between the war, earthquake, covid - never been a better time to anticipate the delivery of a new apple product! like a perfect storm happening this weekend for deliveries. o_O

?
The earthquake was a false alarm. Someone was so anxious for news that he posted a report from 11 years ago.

You really can watch the pot too closely.

Anyone in UK order from a 3rd party retailer? I ordered a base model from Very a few days after orders opened and they claimed delivery on 18th which is why I went with them. Just wondering now if they really had some reserved or not.

UK 3rd party retailers usually have an allocated stock. I guess they're going to get them for delivery on the 18th.

No, there was an earthquake and it has caused power outages affecting millions of people. According to press reports, it also resulted in the closure of at least one of Tokyo's two airports as a precaution. The older article came up because it fit the same search terms.

If you are on the same Shipment as others, the US packages are en-route to Alaska right now. Once they clear customs, UPS worldwide can get packages to anywhere in the US within ~2days. We should know by tomorrow morning if they’re coming Friday or Monday.

Apple still says “preparing to ship” for all of us. We are using UPS My Choice to track the shipments. Apple will likely update the status once they clear customs in Alaska later today.
Here's hopin'

Aaaand it's back to "Preparing to ship" but still with the later date. ?‍♂️
My guess is anyone who had post-March 21 shipping may have been effected by the Foxconn and airport shutdowns.
