Shouldn't the Air model be like thin? Removing ports that most people don't use is how you get the laptop to be thin.

The Apple keyboard and Magic Mouse are connecting with bluetooth. I don't see how that uses up any ports? What exactly with "MS Office and images" can't be performed with two USB-C ports?

You don't have five external disks set up as a softRAID when you type a Word document?

OP, I do understand your disappointment, having only 2 ports on "Pro" device is indeed lame.

But you should have really researched the product before you bought it, then you would have known its limitations before you decided to pull the trigger on purchase.
No doubt. I made a mistake in thinking this issue was a no brainer. CD’s, thumb drives, ethernet, monitors, etc….

You could have brought a 14" MBP that had SD and HDMI for $200 more and you would got more SSD and RAM and CPU/GPU power

Anyone who doesn't even look at the sides of a laptop before buying it, given that this person lives in the past and still uses USB sticks and lord knows what else, deserves whatever disappointment comes his way.

Are you serious? If the MBP you purchased for your wife is such an unmitigated disaster, you'd think you'd notice it the moment you opened the box and set it up for the first time--assuming you failed to do due diligence in checking the specs prior to purchasing. So why didn't you simply return it as soon as you saw the problem and purchase an MBP better suited to her needs?

I'm reminded of the classic video about Antennagate and the iPhone 4: "If you don't want an iPhone 4, don't buy it. If you bought one and you don't like it, bring it back."
"If you don't want that MBP, don't buy it. If you bought one and you don't like it, bring it back." So, why didn't you return it????

That is so frighteningly like so many posts on various forums that I am now genuinely afraid that AI troll posts are going to take over the forums here and elsewhere.
MR should consider incorporating ChatGPT for those who keep asking the questions of “should I upgrade to so and so iPhone, iPad, Mac, etc or keep so and so, or is this the right one for me or I made a mistake or Apple is doomed and I am pissed at them or whatever” 😝

What does you spending 10K on apple products in the last years have anything to do with the device you aren’t happy with? Do you want apple to roll out the red carpet for you?
I have spent that if not more in some years and I am not even a business and that was after discounts. 😝

Yes…one for power…or battery.

Only computer of six I have with no HDMI…and we’re on ethernet as much as possible…no computer over $2k should be that restricted in my opinion.
Likely true, however the Intel 2016 re-design was all about being thin and light which I always thought was a big mistake as most professional users wanted performance & utility not save a few ounces here and there.

The newer 14"/16" MBP's bring back ports and offer desktop performance which the user's want. That said the 2016 design 13" MBP with Apple Silicon remains a very hard to beat out as size, versus performance yet comes with several caveats...

Are you an AI? 😨 how would I know 🤯

I have an admission to make. I'm an AM. That's Artificial Me or just Artificial without the I.

Anyway, I have no idea how serious the original post was. Maybe it's just a prank, but this thread is the funniest thing I've read in a while. Thanks y'all.

And Display XDR should comes with a stand included not at an extra charge, MacPro should include the wheels and the 27” StudioDisplay should have a removable user removable power cord but this is Apple one step forward two steps back, look no further than the butterfly mech keyboard, touchbar, etc.

Just because it’s Apple you as a potential customer or customer have to do your due diligence to see what you are purchasing fits your needs if not shop around for other better fit products. OP has no one to blame other than thmself.

As said "this is Apple" want to use a Mac you have to play their game not that I agree with all. Apple offers great value with the M1 Air yet cash grabs where and whenever it can. Not a good look...

Apple really needs to get back to serving the customer. not it's self...

Nobody’s going to point out the nonexistent spec that the OP claimed he bought? There’s no 13” M2 MacBook Pro with 32GB of RAM. Maxed out with 24GB RAM and 2TB SSD with FCP and logic preinstalled, it’s still less than $3000, not $5500. Even using Canada store, it’s still less than $4000 Canadian dollars, not $5500.

Sus.

That’s how Apple’s marketing works well— labelling a significant inferior but cheaper product as ‘Pro’ when there are other better ‘Pro’ products.

So what exactly is Pro? Other than branding for the sheep...

A professional with choice uses the best tool for the job regardless of spec. Do surgeons only use branded "Pro" scalpels LOL. Is such a load of nonsense and more fool those that fall for such tactics that result in them likely vastly overspending...

Moral of the story: always do your research.

Also: stop assuming that Apple owes you anything.

The OP dropped over $15k on Apple gear. You think a big spender like that had time to check spec pages?

Their time alone is probably worth $100 a minute. When you’re as valuable as that, you can’t afford to spend your time on reading details and spec pages.

Have a heart ❤️
Just because someone spends 15k on Apple gear doesn’t make their time valued at 100 dollars a minute, to the point where they can’t do the literal bare minimum and look at the product they’re buying to see it’s ports. My friends have dropped well over 15k on tech, because of WORK. Certain lines of work just require you to have the best computers, cameras, etc, to do your job properly and stay ahead of the game. So the OP spent all this money for work reasons, that doesn’t make them some sort of billionaire who has little free time that is so valuable that they can’t literally look at a product they’re buying and see it’s ports.

You clearly don’t understand the ultra-rich.

🤪 I’ve been tongue in cheek joking the whole time. Ridiculous threads get ridiculous posts. Haha
