Last night I did a fresh install of Sierra - I downloaded it from the App Store, created a bootable USB drive etc.

I didn't check the build number my MBP 15" came with but after the fresh install it is 16B2657. Shouldn't it be 16B2659? At least that one seems more recent to me...

I did my fresh install using the built in macOS Recovery (https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201314), which downloads a fresh copy from Apple. It gave me the most recent build, 16B2659. So it looks like that's the way to do fresh installs atm.

So a day after my fresh install from USB, I don't want to go as far as saying it feels like a different machine but it's almost that good. It's smooth as butter now, everything just works, no sluggishness, not delays logging on like I had before etc. Just works.

Mine looks good too. I've just turned FileVault on and I can see the minor glitch when logging in but nothing else afterwards.

I'm running apps in full screen mode and keep switching between them since other users have experienced glitches when doing so. So far so good.

Any advice to stress test both graphics cards?

Proud owner of the new MacBook Pro with Touch Bar! So far, this machine is really wowing me. Had a 2015 rMBP and the new one is even better than last years solid machine. One thing I noticed though is that my space bar sounds and feels a bit different than the rest of the keys. not as clicky and somewhat dull. Am I the only one? Or is this normal due to the space bar being larger than the other keys? Gonna compare to another rMBP TB later.

You're the third person now who has reported that, that I've seen, as well as me. It definitely feels much more spongy than the rest but it's not bad enough to return, and I'm now used to it that I dont even notice it anymore

So to be clear to get the latest build...

Back up with time machine.

Command R

Disk Utility Erase

Reinstall Mac OS (from Recovery menu)

Copy stuff back from Time machine in setup

Amirite? :)

exactly that's what I 'm thinking, too. Don't want to wait another decade for a new device. But if it turns out that my space bar is indeed not working as intended I'm going to send my machine in. I paid a hella lot of money for this device, so I expect it to work flawlessly. Besides that, the resell value might suffer. Gonna post an update in this thread once I'm at home for comparison with another Macbook with TB:

Fair enough, I'm going to London tomorrow so will check it out too, but I think it's just the way the button is made, but let us know

copied from the other thread:

so I just tested the space bar on another brand new MBP TB and it felt exactly the same as on my machine. So my conclusion is that the space bar just naturally fells a little bit different than the other keys. Gonna head to a apple retailer next week to confirm this but for now I'm keeping my machine.

Good to know, I think I'm happy enough with it and looks like it's just the way it is. Thanks for checking

Tested https://hazeover.com/touchswitcher.html at the Apple Store in Berlin today (still waiting on mine to arrive). It actually works quite nice, it looks really official. I wonder if the customers that play with that Mac today (they get ghost-imaged and reset overnight) realised it isn't a built-in function...

Well, I'm a cretin. Purchased a new 15" tbMBP today in Madrid, obviously completely oblivious to the fact that it might have a different keyboard to the standard one used in the UK.

Now, I'm sitting in the airport, staring in disbelief that I've managed to arse this up.

I've been reading online that you have to return it to a store in the country you bought it, is there no way around this?

Hmm. Have you placed a in-store-pickup order online and then picked it up? Or did you just walk into the store and bought one?
