Just realized that with the vanishment of MagSafe, I would not know whether the Mac:

- Is charging or not
- Is full on battery or not

I miss MagSafe already :(

Also, 3 finger drag seems to only be working 50% of the time, thinking of returning this product when the stocks are constant.
Yep I mentioned this earlier, I really miss the LED for some reason!

Today, fully charged overnight, currently not running anything but safari and brightness is at around 50%. Battery is reporting 6h20m, that's not good!

Also is anyone having problems logging in with Touch ID where it takes ages to respond after it registers your finger?

I miss the MagSafe LED too, but no problems with the battery life on my 13" with safari, vmware fusion and mail running with the screen at 50% brightness.

(SIP was already enabled also.)

interesting, I wonder why mine is so low. Anyone else see that issue?

Hey guys,
so today is the day for me. MBP out for delivery.

Is there a list of things to check (somewhere)?

- Keyboard
- SIP Integrity
- 460 "red blocks"
- Speaker sizzle
- 3 fingers swipe
- SMC reset
- (...)?

Do not want to be paranoid, but just check if my new computer is in good health :D

Thanks!

Biggest unexpected benefit - being able to charge from either side, this has already helped me out 3 times.

Just to get sure: NVRAM Reset resolves SIP bug and SMC reset is for battery issues?

Thanks!

Yes, NVRAM reset solved the SIP issue for me and others, the SMC reset is related to battery but for me it didn't seem to do anything. Im reserving judgement until the machine has been in use for a while to see if the battery life improves.

thank you!

People concerned about their batteries: the return period runs until January 8, so there is plenty of time to try it out and let it settle in.

Yes indeed. How has yours been?
I got through one full charge yesterday. For a very mixed use case, from long idle times in web browsing, to brief periods of stress testing with the yes command*, it got just under 10 hours. Spotlight was indexing though.

(*Wanted to see how loud the fans were (SMCfancontrol wouldn't work). After the CPU was maxed out for ten minutes the fans were barely audible. Very impressed.)

How about yours?

At the moment it's still hard to say. When I said yesterday it was fully charged, it probably actually wasn't. So I haven't had a whole batteries worth of use yet, and today I'm on my iMac so haven't really used it. Having said that, earlier today the indicator was showing 12:48 left when fully charged and brightness was 50% so perhaps that has some merit in it. That was after my second SMC reset.

How can you tell if spotlight is still indexing?

There was a Spotlight process in Activity Monitor taking up a lot of CPU time.

Cancelled my pre-order set for December 6th-12th, and headed into town to pick this up. It meant I had to cancel my sister's student discount (just for you Brookzy ;)), but I ended up with employee discount which was essentially the same price.

This is my second ever Apple product, never used a Mac before and I've owned one iPhone. I love it already. I've had it about 25 minutes!

The weird thing for me is getting used to the new shortcuts, knowing where the @ symbol is, etc but should be fine. The speakers are absolutely great, really surprised me.

I don't really like the way windows stack to be honest but I think this is most likely something to do with being used to Windows, whereas it's very different on here, I'm sure I'll get used to it. Anyways, big fan!

Once you realise that the Mac way of doing things is just different to Windows, you will start to get the hang of it. To be honest, I've been a Mac user solely for about 5 years personally, although I still use Windows for work, and I still miss some things that Windows does do well, and in fact that probably is window management, however apart from that, MacOS is soooo much better, once you get the hang of it.

Thing I wish I'd learnt sooner - keyboard shortcuts. They are much handier on MacOS than Windows I think and will definitely help you out.

Starting to learn a few of them now! I'll refrain from mentioning them in here to avoid derailing the topic but Google is getting a hammering from all of my queries at the moment.

missed ordering on the day of release as I was travelling and as the shipping time slipped even further back to late dec-jan, I was deterred from ordering..

however I woke up at the crack of dawn this morning and having got wind that some had made their way to EU, I checked the apple site to see shipping times still at 4-5 weeks.. but that I could order for collection 'today'. I thought it may be a error so I called my local store (Covent Garden, London) as soon as they opened and was put through to an incredibly helpful lady who initially wasn't aware that stock had arrived, we went through some drama where by my card wasn't going through. I called my bank, straightened it out and managed to reserve their last space grey 13" touch bar!!!!!!!

I was over to the store within the hour and picked it up. sitting in a cafe now typing from it now.. having exhausted every last bit of energy from my mid-2010 MBP.. this is quite the upgrade! so happy.

Just received my macbook pro, its a beauty. I was using a dell XPS 15 and thought that its QHD screen was amazing but Macbook pro's display in another league.
Does anyone know where to get the demo videos (shown in the picture below) from the keynote?

They are by Marcel Christ, not sure if the video clips are available though.
