Got my base 13inch today, loving it! Adjusting to Touch-bar and keyboard obviously, but the design is just so good.

No issues on battery life here either like most others. 6 and a half hour remaining at 75%

Planned on getting a base model +16gb RAM.

Went into Regent St, and bought a i7/16/512 in Space Grey (only 16GB config in inventory).

Keyboard is much better than it initially feels. Very quick to type on once you get into a rhythm and nice and accurate.

Battery life does seem to swing quite a bit but looking at around 8hrs with light usage (haven't added many files so not too much indexing). Need to get over that barrier to make it a keeper.

So, I really agree with most posts in this thread:

- quality of this mac is really impressive - well done
- sound is perfect for me, way better than older macbooks
- touchbar is not as high with resolution as i thought but okay. could be a bit brighter maybe
- battery drains really fast, dont know if it is going to normalize in a few days
- my mac had already 3 load-cycles when i first started coconut battery
- display is massive, never seen so sharp and colorful images before
- the butterfly-keys, omfg on the new macbook they felt awful but these are just awesome
- usb-c, well.. nice new standard, a bit tricky to remove with one hand but we'll see..
- magsafe.. apple what have you done :( missing it already. BUT now I can change by powerbank
- SIP was off but NVRAM reset fixed it for me :)

just my 2 cents!
We'll see how this bad boy works in a few days, hopefully battery live gets way better!

:)

My Spacegrey 15" i7 2,7 - 16GB - 512GB - 460 arrived today.

As a professional scriptwriter coming from a mid 2012 Pro Retina, after working on the 'butterfly' for half a day I can say I really like the keyboard. It's fast, it's accurate. Really happy so far.

Is anyone else having a very short and weird graphics flash at the bottom of the screen when logging in? Despite that the screen makes no problems so far. Here is also a thread from another person, who has the EXACT same problem:

https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...gging-in-on-the-new-2016-macbook-pro.2017248/

It's also not the only one I've seen so far in there forums... I don't know if I need to be worried because it happens every single time when logging in and that would maybe speak for a software/ driver bug?

Have you seen my post a couple of pages ago? In addition to the glitches posted I experienced that log in glitch a couple of times.

But if yours isn't persistent like mine was I'm sure it's fine.

It IS persistent. It happens every single time I log in :oops:

Wow, that would be awful QA. Just keep the small sample size in mind. At least 4 known cases with the log in flickering now and 4 with complete screen failure... And both of us were writing in these forums anyway, which implies we didn't come here for just reporting it. There must be a lot more then...

I mean persistent as in staying there once you've logged in. Which mine did. It also had glitches in recovery mode:

Oh okay sorry, I misunderstood. I also read you posts from two pages back - I hope I can quote you by saying "crisis averted" and I don't have lemon as well. So far I guess it can still be a software issue on mine. Thanks.

No no, I just didn't express myself clearly enough! :)

Keep us posted, I am interested to see how this progresses.

Hey guys! Mine just arrived!

- This screen is awesome, such an improvement!

Question (which I've asked in other threads): Do you feel your space bar key has a bit of a different travel than the other keys? It just feels less snappy than the other keys. What's your thoughts about it?

As I suspected the touch bar is a bit of a gimmick, but hey, it doesn't hurt. Also, this trackpad is too big since I've mistakenly hit the trackpad several times. Not cool!

My concerns is really with the keyboard. It's just so much more comfortable to type on the previous model.

Re the space bar, it may be because it flexes somewhat between the dome switches underneath it.

After a while you'll love the keyboard. :)

Yes, I thought exactly the same thing about the space bar when I first got it, it feels more spongy. I'm used to it now though.

So this battery is weird, the percentage has dropped 17% in about 45 mins and the time remaining seems to fluctuate wildly. Was at 10+hours a while back, now at 6.5hour, and has been everything between. What could it be? Problem?
[doublepost=1479944398][/doublepost]huh?!

To be honest I wouldn't bother looking at battery life in any detail until it has gone through a fair few cycles.

I absolutely adore the keyboard. Was worried for a while before getting it but think it's super quick to type on and I even like how the keys kinda 'pop' as you touch them.

Find the predictive text options in the touchbar handier than I thought. It's much easier to select the word you want from there, than it is to move to the trackpad and click the little 'x' that shows on screen when typing.

Oh and I love the ability to switch user just by touching the fingerprint sensor. Very very slick indeed.

I note a poster above said that one advantage of the USB-C is the ability to charge from a power-bank and thats a really good point.

The left half of my caps lock key is definitely duller than the right half, it's especially noticeable when compared with the shift key directly below. I didn't notice it yesterday until I read people's comments here (thanks for that, guys :p). Luckily it doesn't bug me too much... yet!

With all of the talk of battery life (and how not great it's been) I wanted to post up my current battery life. 15" BTO that arrived about a day and a half ago. Most of my time since then has been taken up with set up and syncing files over (thanks for being super slow Dropbox). And during that time my battery life suuuuucked.

Today though? Sitting at almost 12 hours of life on the machine.
