It looks different. How he did manage to prevent the icons from hiding when switching to TB supported app and where is the button that brings the app icons on/off?
hmmm, actually that wasn't my picture above, I assumed they had used that app, sorry. Im not sure how they did it.

Has it finished yet? Mine has been saying between 40 and 50 minutes remaining for over two hours now. It's never ending!

Yes it has finished, mine took awhile as my backup drive is a spinning HD and I have 1TB of data (moving onto my new 2TB mac)

I have a further couple of things, my old Mac was running El Capitan - Mission Control is annoying as hell in Sierra, i'm used to 4 finger swipe up to deactivate it and now it just bounces - also if I do a fast 4 finger up gesture mission control seems to get stuck - I thought it was a graphics lag or something on the machine, but looks like a software glitch - no idea why they changed it :(

After using this keyboard I actually love it, I now type a bit more quieter then before but still loud (i'm slowly retraining myself) - I haven't found myself making any mistakes as I seem to be typing faster then I did on the old one. I don't find myself using the quicktype suggestions on the touchbar because I type so quick on this thing that the suggestions don't come up quick enough.

The speakers are amazing!! literally I don't need them any higher then 60% - 70% and i'm really happy, the previous laptop (I had late 2013 model) was a good speaker but wasn't loud enough for my liking.

I still love the large trackpad but I do find that sometimes when resting my hand on the very edge it clicks (so the palm rejection not working)

Screen brightness is great I don't need it at full to be happy, look forward to trying it in the summer and see how it displaying in direct sunlight!

So far it is coping with my work load which consists on having the maximum about of files your able to open in Photoshop, 2 browsers each with around 90 times, various pages and numbers documents, terminal, xcode with a few projects open, a VM (parallels) with Mavericks (for some legacy apps I need), mail, iTunes and messages as well. My 2013 struggled like hell to keep up with the amount of things I open and SO FAR this is doing a good job.

The smaller footprint while it doesn't look much different when you compare side by side, it actually feels a lot smaller when using it - I think possibly the darker colour and the small bezels gives an illusion of a much smaller device.

For reference I have the 2.7ghz 2TB 460 graphics 15" model :)

I like the keyboard. I admit it's noisy, but the feel of it when typing is great. I'm not so excited about the track pad though. Who actually has a use case for one this big? It really only impacts me directly because I'm used to right clicking by tapping the bottom right corner, which is now so awkward I'm going to have to relearn to control click instead. Other than that, like almost everyone I imagine, the old size was fine and I continue to use the same area I did before.

I have mentioned this before but I will repeat it here. Anyone who needs a new bigger Time Machine drive might like to know that Apple has a 25% discount on the USB-C LaCie Porsche Design drives until the dongle discount ends:

http://www.apple.com/uk/shop/product/HJZ02/lacie-1tb-p9227-porsche-design-usb-c-mobile-hard-drive

It's available in 1TB and 4TB, and also comes with a conventional USB cable as well as a USB-C cable, so compatibility is good.

I like the new size trackpad. It was never a problem before but I do remember sometimes running out of space, it's not a big deal but the new size is helpful. I've never used the bottom right for right clicking, I always use two finger clicks for that, so that's not an issue for me

Joining the group here with my base 15" with 512 and 460 graphics!

I'm blown away by the speakers! I didn't expect them to be this loud and bassy. Trebles are not muted by the bass. Apple really did a good job on these speakers. Wow! I would say this is louder than my 2012 13" Air by about 2 to 3 times. I would normally listen to music at about 50% volume but with this, I barely took it over 30% because of how loud it is.

I'm glad to say that I really like this keyboard. I remember trying the 12" in stores and instantly hating it. Typing on my Air now feels odd when the keys move that much, not to mention my eye balls are boggled when I revert back to the Air.

Can't you use a 2 finger click for right click, that's what i've done since my first unibody macbook pro :)

Do you know if this drive is an SSD or a spinning drive - it claims 5gbp/s transfer so I assume it's solid state?

Ok, so I'm all transferred and up and running. I love this thing - the effect is definitely magnified by having moved to a 15" 2.7/1TB/460 from a mid-2009 13" with a spinny drive but this runs like a dream (touch wood).

Like most of you the battery value is a bit odd but I'll let it settle in. I actually really started to like the keyboard once I stopped typing so hard.

I've got Lightroom downloaded but haven't yet tested. It runs FM17 at pretty much max settings without breaking sweat - can use Spotify and Safari while playing and it doesn't show any signs of stress.

Having a bit of trouble getting Rosetta Stone and Office back up and running but that's because the licence codes are lost somewhere...

Haven't yet personalised the TB but am finding it vaguely useful.

Yeah you need to always a leave a few days for battery life values as they're always iffy on the first few days with Mac for some reason.

I had the same problem with Parallels license code, but as I was on Parallels 11 and 12 out and was on sale I decided to just upgrade :p Strangely no licensing issues with things like Photoshop!

No I think it's a conventional 2.5" SATA hard disk of some sort inside. If it were solid state then 4TB for £160 would be the bargain of the century! They are quoting the interface speed rather than the disk speed, which is nearly always the case with external drives. So you wouldn't want to be doing anything intensive on it, but it's great for Time Machine or other archives. It looks rather nice, too.

Is anyone else having a very short and weird graphics flash at the bottom of the screen when logging in? Despite that the screen makes no problems so far. Here is also a thread from another person, who has the EXACT same problem:

https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...gging-in-on-the-new-2016-macbook-pro.2017248/

It's also not the only one I've seen so far in there forums... I don't know if I need to be worried because it happens every single time when logging in and that would maybe speak for a software/ driver bug?

I'm getting it as well, every time i log in a very short technicolour flash to the bottom quarter of the screen. Have not noticed any issues to the screen so i am with you and thinking bug apposed to something seriously wrong.

The left half of my caps lock key is definitely duller than the right half, it's especially noticeable when compared with the shift key directly below. I didn't notice it yesterday until I read people's comments here (thanks for that, guys :p). Luckily it doesn't bug me too much... yet!

They let you know and you have let me know, now i can see mine is definitely duller on the left hand side also, i am wondering if it has something to do with their being the indicator light to show if Caps lock is on or off as stage it doesn't affect fn,shift etc. in the same way.

I love my new MacBook, but honestly, I think the software image on the machine could have been a lot more polished. I have experienced lots of hangs, beach balls, general slowness and sluggishness at times, I'm putting this down to software as I don't seem to have any hardware issues, touch wood. I am just creating a bootable flash drive and will reinstall a fresh version of Sierra and see how things go

I did do a fresh macOS Sierra install using Internet Recovery as soon as I got mine, and before copying everything over. I haven't noticed any particular issues with beachballing or sluggishness.

Got the first graphic-bugs today while surfing thru the internet. idk where this came from but i will keep an eye on that... :(

Just now the safari toolbar went red when switching fullscreen apps - hopefully a one off as I have 460 graphics :/

Im concerned by all the graphics issues so far.

@Brookzy have you noticed any issues on your replacement machine?

My fresh install has just completed, installing apps now so we will see how it goes.

(Obviously it's well over 2000 on read - it's literally off the charts!)

Got my new Macbook yesterday. I'm very happy right now, although some software polish would be welcome (@steve-p). No issues with the gpu till now.

Would you please describe how to do this step by step in order not to install from the existing image?
I don't remember the exact steps but reboot and hold Option Command R until something happens on the screen. Then select reinstall MacOS from the menu that appears. At some point it will ask you to pick a wifi network and enter the password. Then it will download and install a fresh copy. It takes about an hour.
