The System Preferences update issue is not solved in 10.15.3 +dosdude1 patch 1.30 . Fortunately, there is Silent Knight that gives me a workable gui to update the OS. But what about other apps, like GarageBand or any other that install via the App Store? I would like to install GarageBand, would it update fine from App Store or, in order to update it, I shall need to delete the old version and re-download it from the App Store?

Yes you can install GarageBand from the App Store and the Software update in System Preferences will alert you do updates from the update or if you use Safari Technology Preview> The newest iMovie does not work as it now requires metal

Currently my 2009 Mac Pro with an rx 580 gpu is unable to watch Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Hulu in Safari. The browser will not accept the plugins. With Silverlight 5 installed and html 5 the browser will not play any video content. Is this an issue that comes with running Catalina? Does anyone think a fresh install would fix the problem?

To disable it, try this opening a Catalina Terminal window copy/paste (in one line):
Code:
sudo kextunload /System/Library/Extensions/AppleStorageDrivers.kext/Contents/Plugins/AppleUSBCardReader.kext

Jackluke is there a option to make this permanent ? and not do this every time I boot ?

thx man !

You can, but it is extremely risky. I'd highly advise not doing so, and just continue using the custom APFS bootloader implementation.
Thanks for the guidance. The reason for asking is I've already bricked an early Mini3,1 by being impatient. Noticed Catalina reports the MCP79 as "Generic" while Mojave reports the OEM and p/n, specifically.

I knew that Garageband was downloading fine and working and that iMovie does not work. But I was wondering if I was able to update it from App Store, because I can not update Catalina from System Preferences.

Can you be more specific about the type of MacBook? I´d assume that with the symptoms you describe you have a MB 5,2 and not a 2008 MBP (which would i.e. be a MBP 4,1).

It is a 4,1 Early 2008 15" MacBook Pro. Had the same issue (non working two fingers-right click) with High Sierra, but right click was working ok with the officially supported El Capitan.

I am running MacOs 10.15.2 in my 2009 MBP(5,5) with dosdude1's 1.3.0.
I want to update to 10.15.3.
Can I use '10.15.3 update combo'?

Or only try it if you are prepared to change the flash eprom chip if unsuccessful

Ok, then the solution of that riddle is a bit more complicated:
The top cases (keyboard/trackpad) of the MBP 4,1 and the MPB 3,1 (in sizes 15" and 17" respectively) are interchangeable.
It seems that during some repair process that you might have had with your MBP 4,1 someone installed the top case of the older MBP 3,1. This one has different trackpad controllers and firmware and does not support anything newer than El Cap natively. I stumbled into such a situation years ago also and the best remedy was to buy the 4,1 top case for a few bucks on ebay.
What you could also try: For the MB 4,1 and 5,2 there is a patch for trackpad/keyboard. You might give that a try for partial improvement of your trackpad functions.

Succesfull update on a MacMini 5.1 "on this machine" 10.5.2 -> 10.5.3.

First try failed but after redownloading the patcher & install files it worked out.

I finished downloading 10.15.3 delta update, but I can't do that.
I am seeing the message: "This software is not supported on your system."
Is there any way of using 10.15.3 delta update?

Never had such a repair. Only time I put it in someone else's hands was when the NVIDIA GPU failed and I brought it to Apple Genius bar and they just told me I had to replace the entire logic board.
So no thank you, I took it home and cooked it back to life myself (twice now).

Since Safari has issues while using Netlix or Hulu and sometimes Youtube I use the FriendlyStream app its free int he App Store to watch Hulu and works great not so much for Netflis but you have an option to play Youtube on the app as well but haven't tested it I use this app to watch Netflix on as Youtube is an option bt Hulu doesn't seem to work https://electronplayer-beta.otbeaumont.me use this version here beta 3 crashes use 2.0.7 https://github.com/oscartbeaumont/ElectronPlayer/releases

Does anyone have any experience running the video conference software Zoom on 10.15.2? I have talked with tech support at Zoom because I'm having trouble displaying or annotating video through the program. It still sends my video, but I can't see anyone's video. The closest Zoom support has been able to get is changing some of the graphics acceleration settings to this point. Thanks!

I previously downloaded Catalina Patcher 1.3.0 on my iMac, downloaded Catalina with the Patcher and Installed 10.15.1. I just re-downloaded Catalina Patcher 1.3.0, downloaded Catalina with the Patcher and did Install to This Machine. After this completed I still have 10.15.1. How do I upgrade to 10.15.3?

Ok kext Droplet is ready for Catalina 10.15.3
If someone needs a good kext installer its here ➦ Kext Droplet
Working from OS X Maverick to macOS Catalina
Ive just test the Atheros fix on macOS Catalina 10.15.3

Enjoy :D

I couldn't update from 10.15.2 to 10.15.3 in place.
So I updated from USB boot, then works fine.

mac mini server ( mac mini Mid 2011, Macmini5,3) Intel Core i7, Intel HD Graphics 3000

what I did
  1. Put CatalinaAutoMountWritable.plist to /Library/LaunchDaemons
  2. Reboot
  3. run swupatch.sh
  4. Open software update in System Pref.
  5. Click “update”. then download start.
  6. run catalinaswufix3.command
  7. reboot
then installing ….
then rebooting …
then during reboot, kernel panic, forever loop.
