I am not sure how to explain the whole sequence of events, but I managed to find my way through and got the right versions of the Patcher and Catalina installer. Mission accomplished.

Thank you for helping me out. Support here is awesome

Open the Catalina Patcher either 1.4 or 1.4.1 download a copy of macOS Catalina when the download finishes go to your downloads folder right click on instal macOS Catalina then click on get info View attachment 904646
I know that already! And in fact, last night I used V1.4.1 of the patcher to download OS 10.15.4, V15.04.2. But I started with OS 10.15.3 via an earlier version of the patcher, and then downloaded and applied the OS 10.15.4 Combo Updater. Hence, patcher or no patcher, how do I know if I have V15.04.2?

10.15.4 Supplimental observations - post install

• >System Preferences>General>Apperance>Auto is still broken. Old bug.
• >System Preferences>Desktop&ScreenSaver>ScreenSaver>Drift is blank.
• >System Preferences>Spotlight>Privacy>Macintosh SSD on internal bus w/10.15.3 is "forgotten" after a restart.
• >System Preferences>APFS Boot> displays an alias of the currently running APFS volume, other APFS volume on internal bus is present but not shown.
• >System Preferences>Accessibilty>Pointer Control>Enable Head pointer was selected.
• >System Preferences>Privacy>Automation>Finder - macOS Mojave Patcher remains as a selection from a previous install.

All other C/P selections remain unchanged.

No KPs or weirdness of any kind on a barefoot Mini3,1. Speedy boot up, Catalyst apps run perfectly. Transparency is gorgeous and overall image is sharp and snappy on a 46" Samsung LED TV @ 1080P. D/L'd and installed v.10 of Apple office suite from App Store in record time over the 5 Ghz. APEBS connection.

Patcher v.1.4.1 may be the best @dosdude1 and crew effort, yet. YMMV 😷😀

I installed 10.15.4.2 on my MacBook Pro Mid 2009 and I observed several issues. However, after running several times Onyx and reapply the patches, it seems to work now, besides the MacBook is not going to sleep automatically anymore when the power cable is connected.

I also had several crashes of Chrome (only always the first start after a reboot) and Cyberghost VPN wouldn't start anymore at all. But after Onyx and reapplying the patches it now seems to work. Hopefully it will last with the next restart of the system.

Photos, Reminders, Music and Notes seem to work normally as well as iCloud.

But the stand-by thing is really annoying.

Edit: I forgot to mention that I did reset the SMC and NVRAM as well.

You will need to use an older Catalina Patcher to install an older version of Catalina Patcher 1.3.0

I don't talk about zoom.
I am talking about the chrome crash problem.
I have solved the zoom problem many thread pages ago.
:)
This is covered in the FAQ of my webpage. As stated, run "sudo killall taskgated" in Terminal, and that will rectify the app crashes. This is an issue Apple introduced in 10.15.4, and is nothing to do with any patches.

Thank you for the rapid answer my friend, but as I already posted in this thread this solution is not working for me.

Hello @dosdude1. I think I came across a possible "bug" in a recent Patch Installer update.

I am running 10.15.4 via 1.4 USB Installer installation on a MBP 6,2.
  • Broadcom BCM43xx 1.0 (7.21.190.33 AirPortDriverBrcm4360-1325.2)
After applying the updated Library Validation Disabler Patch released 4/6/20, my internal Wi-Fi stopped working entirely, with the inability to turn on the Wi-Fi via System Preferences or Task Bar shortcut (still showed up on the Task Bar but greyed out).

I attempted to re-apply all the patches via booting into the 1.4 USB installer, including overwriting the Library Validation Disabler Patch via the 1.4 version and force-rebuild... no dice.

The only way I was able to resolve the Wi-Fi issue was to to do a reinstallation of 10.15.4 using the 1.4 USB installer.

Thanks again to all for your work keeping my old MBP in the game!

@dosdude1 and Team,

Any insight on a resolution to this Library Validation Disable Patch application /Wi-Fi disabling issue?

Again, thanks for all the work you and the folks on this board are doing!

Yes, that works! Not sure why Apple is "sneaky" regarding that.

"Sneaky" is obsoleting all of these perfectly useful older Macs way before their time. 😷

I'm having a major issue that's been preventing me from finishing the install all day.

I've already installed the patcher on my Late 2008 Macbook 5,1 running on OS X 10.11.6. Whenever I try to create a bootable installer, I get about halfway through and get the following error message:

Error Mounting InstallESD Image
An error occurred while mounting the InstallESD image. Verify that InstallESD.dmg is not mounted using Disk Utility, then try again.

I've tried creating a bootable installer on two different external drives as well as installing straight to my device, both getting the same error message. Here's a copy of the log:

Does anybody have a solution for this or will I just have to wait another nine hours to re-install the patcher with my slow download speeds?

Look at Patch Updater, Library Validation Disabler Patch s/b v.3?

Thanks for the response!

I cannot see the version number in the Patch Updater app due to the prompt requiring the installation of the available Library Validation Disabler Patch to get further into the program to see which versions are installed The version installed on my MBP 6,2 currently was the one used in the 1.4 USB Installer (Wi-Fi working).

If I install the available Library Validation Disabler Patch update, it causes the Wi-Fi issue (Wi-Fi card is unable to be enabled).

The problematic Library Validation Disabler Patch lists the following description:

  • This patch disables Library Validation on your machine. This is necessary when running 10.15.4+ on an unsupported Mac.
  • This update fixes an issue where microphone and/or camera permissions may not work properly with some third-party applications
  • AMFI is re-enabled
Thanks again everyone!
