Thanks for the response!

I cannot see the version number in the Patch Updater app due to the prompt requiring the installation of the available Library Validation Disabler Patch to get further into the program to see which versions are installed The version installed on my MBP 6,2 currently was the one used in the 1.4 USB Installer (Wi-Fi working).

If I install the available Library Validation Disabler Patch update, it causes the Wi-Fi issue (Wi-Fi card is unable to be enabled).

The problematic Library Validation Disabler Patch lists the following description:

  • This patch disables Library Validation on your machine. This is necessary when running 10.15.4+ on an unsupported Mac.
  • This update fixes an issue where microphone and/or camera permissions may not work properly with some third-party applications
  • AMFI is re-enabled
Thanks again everyone!
That patch has nothing to do with the WiFi issue. If you do experience a WiFi issue after installing, connect to Ethernet and use Patch Updater to re-install the Legacy WiFi Patch, by right-clicking on it in the list.

10.15.4 Supplimental observations - post install

• >System Preferences>General>Apperance>Auto is still broken. Old bug.
• >System Preferences>Desktop&ScreenSaver>ScreenSaver>Drift is blank.
• >System Preferences>Spotlight>Privacy>Macintosh SSD on internal bus w/10.15.3 is "forgotten" after a restart.
• >System Preferences>APFS Boot> displays an alias of the currently running APFS volume, other APFS volume on internal bus is present but not shown.
• >System Preferences>Accessibilty>Pointer Control>Enable Head pointer was selected.
• >System Preferences>Privacy>Automation>Finder - macOS Mojave Patcher remains as a selection from a previous install.

All other C/P selections remain unchanged.

No KPs or weirdness of any kind on a barefoot Mini3,1. Speedy boot up, Catalyst apps run perfectly. Transparency is gorgeous and overall image is sharp and snappy on a 46" Samsung LED TV @ 1080P. D/L'd and installed v.10 of Apple office suite from App Store in record time over the 5 Ghz. APEBS connection.

Patcher v.1.4.1 may be the best @dosdude1 and crew effort, yet. YMMV 😷😀
Thank God I didnot upgrade to supplement update as I see many issues for many. ;)

Thanks for your detailed tests of System Preferences for 10.15.4 supplement. I confirm the first two bullets here (MBP5,2). Bullets 3,4,6 I can't really compare. For bullet 5, the head pointer is not selected here.

As you, I find that 10.15.4(supplement or original)/1.4.1 is a pleasure to use, a real gift. Thanks!

EDIT: Drift seems also broken on a supported machine (MBP11,1 13"), as well as with 10.15.4 original on both machines.

Hello guys,

So i tried multiple versions of MacOS (High Sierra, Mojave, Catalina) on my Macbook Pro 5.5 and iMac 8.1.

Macbook Pro 5.5 seems to work very well with HS,Mojave and Catalina, very smooth, no lag, Launchpad smooth, everything just flies with 120GB SSD. I stayed on HS with that machine because I found that one to be the snappiest of them all.

The same cannot be said about iMac 8.1 i tried multiple reinstalls of (High Sierra, Mojave, Catalina), every time I get same results. Very strange things happen. System sometimes works properly everything if fast, very smooth even 1080p60fps video works well, and sometimes does not work properly, it becomes slower and even 1080p24fps video lags. The first obvious symtphom of not working properly is that Launchpad starts to work laggy, stuttery. Then system boots functions properly Launchpad is very snappy. I have searched for hours for solution but nothing works.

First I thought that some software is bad, but I have same programmes installed in MBP 5.5 and everything is silky smooth. Even without any software, clean install this iMac 8.1 is working very strange. First few reboots are fine, but after few days system starts to not work properly. It becomes slow.

The only temporary solution I have found is SMC reset. It works, but after some reboots problem comes again and again and only fix is reseting SMC again.

Did anyone had this kind of lag problems? I do not understand whats the problem. MBP 5.5 works well, but this iMac 8.1 is a mess. Edit: CPU usage is low, but I still get that lag..

Is memory usage reasonable on both machines (e.g. with activity monitor)?

Disk dying?

Hard disk is brand new Patriot 120GB SSD, i do not think so. And as i said, it works properly then i reset smc, but after few reboots it does not work properly, i have to reset smc again..

yes it has more than 2 gb of free ram on both machines, cpu usage on both cores of both systems is very low. i do not understand why this is happening... They are set up exactly the same.

Maybe you can try what dosdude1 stated here. It worked for me (MBP 8.2)

I prefer to wait a little more to see if there are more patches either from apple or from dosdude1.
Btw my error is the following : EXC_CRASH (Code Signature Invalid) so I wonder if I could fix it with the following command :

sudo codesign -fs - /Applications/Google Chrome.app/Contents/MacOS/Google Chrome --deep

Hi @jackluke first of all I would like to thank you for the OpencoreAPSloader, I have successfully upgraded to 10.5.5 using OTA.
I have also tried your suggestion to copy over the prelinkedkernel from my machine to the patched USB but when I turn on VoiceOver still there is no sound when I bootfrom the USb.
Do you have any other ideas I can try?
Again a big thank you for your help so far.

You're right, from an "unsupported macOS Utilities recovery" using CMD+F5 and consequently the "VoiceOver" doesn't produce any sound, but I guess you noticed that using a prelinkedkernel from the machine enabled the Wifi on 10.15.5 beta 1 recovery, about the "Recovery Sound Audio", I still can't find a valid kext to properly use on the prelinkedkernel, maybe it's the 10.11 AppleHDA.kext (while the one used is from HighSierra).

Ok, is there a way we can extract the hda from 10.11 some how?

How much memory do you have in the MacBook Pro 5.5 vs the iMac 8.1? Minimum is 4Gb but realistically, you'll want 8. The other big difference is that the iMac is using SSE4,2 emulation on the video drivers while the MacBook Pro isn't.

Yet another Patcher v.1.4.1 success. This low octane 2GHz. Mini3,1 w/SSD runs smooth and is quite useful. But no camera and mic makes these little old boxes somewhat immune to the latest issues? Further - after the install noticed the SATA bus dropped to 1.5 GHz. from 3 GHz. SMC reset corrected the issue, NVRAM reset did not.

These are hard times, time for another donation. 🤑😷

Thank you! I'm running 10.15.4.01 (installed via patcher 1.4.1). I have not yet been notified about the 10.15.4.02 update. I will wait for the update notiffication.

I did not receive an update notification for 10.15.4.02, so I manually applied the upgrade after creating a new patched installer USB with 10.15.4.02 and patcher 1.4.1. Upgrade proceeded as expected. I don't notice any differences between 10.15.4.01 and 10.15.4.02 on my HackBookPro6,2.

Thank you to the DosDude team for outstanding work. I'm amazed that I can still run the latest macOS on my old platform. OUTSTANDING work!

Have a great day,
If you used Catalina Patcher 1.4 it should have popped from your patch updater if you download Catalina Patcher 1.4.1 create a new usb with macOS Catalina 10.15.4.02 and reapply the post install patches from the usb

Thank you for your reply, I used the 1.4.1, but have a very limited internet connection, there is another solution instead or redownload 8Go of Catalina 10.15.4.02 ?

Thank you !

First check this in System Preferences then go to your applications folder/Utilities open patch updater find the LibraryValidation patch rich click on it and reinstall the patch it does take a bit of time to rebuild the kext caches 25 to 30 mins and see if that works
