I've downloaded a game from Apple arcade (i'm a subscriber), when i try to game, it crashes after Apple arcade screen logo (on a iMac 27 mid 2011 with a 780m card). Is this normal? Can someone use Apple arcade?

Any of their subscription services are caveat emptor on unsupported machines. For example, the TV app is only usable for downloaded content on machines which don't have newer processors like the MacPro 5,1.

After an update to 10.15.4 on my MacPro5,1 iMessage won't sign in anymore, getting "An error occurred during activation. Try again."
[...]
UPDATE: cmd-opt-p-r NVRAM reset resolved that. All working right now it seems.
Same here with 10.15.4 (19E266) on my cMP. Installed 19E287 supplemental, didn't help. Clearing NVRAM did the trick. Thanks.

@jackluke . I know it is asking for a bit more but is there any way you can edit a Ktext sh script to use Airdrop for Atheros Wifi card like the iMac 2011 as unsupported using Catalina 10.15.4 with non apple EFI Metal GPU. This would really be a great effort. I know Hands off/continuity is not supported and is only for Broadcom cards but you can try for Airdrop at least.

@hvds I fixed that minor issue, now the app should automatically assign an "EFIext" label temporary mount point when using any external USB device.

Download here: USBOpenCoreAPFSloader2.app.zip

edit: this is also updated on my previous post.
Thank you jackluke for this change.
I confirm it works well now also for my setup. The app is now independent of previous EFI mounts.

The boot selector shows the internal and external SSDs with their EFIs (from APFS ROM patch I guess), and the USB stick's bootable installer with its OpenCore EFI.

I tried but there is no fix (also for some older Broadcom wifi cards), but those who can't enable AirDrop patching the Wifi kext can use this as workaround: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/macos-10-15-catalina-on-unsupported-macs.2183772/post-28331332

Installed Catalina 10.15.4 on an external drive on my iMac 27" mid-2010 16GB HD5750 1GB and am surprised how smooth it works despite the HD57xx. For example YT in Safari and Full HD h264 video playback in QT works flawlessly. So I started to wonder where I will feel the pain (I'm not a game player). I just started to use it so prolly I will run into issues pretty soon and just in case it gets unbearable I ordered a Nvidia K2000M. Anyways, I do have 2 issues: can't get VLC to work, it just shows a black flickering window and then won't respond and Chrome crashes with exception type EXC_CRASH (Code Signature Invalid). I would appreciate any help you can give.

Happy Easter,

Just a question: Do you know if this causes some serious security problems or not more than we're already having with SIP disabled?

And maybe a second question: Is the taskgated problem something specific regarding the unsupported Macs or is it a problem all users are currently facing? I'm sorry if the question is stupid but I'm just not having any developer / scripting background.

You should always run a couple of security apps like Lulu firewall and AdGuard.
In my case taskgated did nothing at all but the process I tried with these commands appear to work until now.

Hello there, is there a way to create dosdude1 catalina installer disc in linux manually ? or in terminal as I can only boot to recovery or linux mint on my macbook pro 5.1. i screwed my partition and i wasn't able to use my time machine to fix it since it isn't recognized at boot. i had catalina installed with dosdude1 installer was running like a charm until i accidentally deleted the partition in linux hhhhh. I created an el capitan disc with dd command in linux but i was unsuccessful in installing it with the disc or with reinstall via internet in recovery as i got "No packages were eligible for install" changing the date didn't work either. so i really wonder if i can manually create the dosdude1 catalina installer disc manually in linux, or any other solution as i don't have access to another mac machine.

That framework is AMD specific so it won't help with Nvidia cards. PS, this sounds like it might be the issue mentioned here.

FYI, attached is the crash log that I get for the TV resume issue here on a MacPro 3,1 with Mac ROM'd GTX680.

I have MacOS Catalina running 100% on my Macbook Pro 2011. However, the DuetDisplay application works only by mirroring the screen, in the second display mode the screen turns yellow. Can someone help me?

I think launching it a second time may work. If not, try running sudo killall taskgated in Terminal.

Damn!
I just solved the problem!(At least for this session.I wonder if it works after a restart)
First you do (optionally) xattr -lr <path_to_app_bundle> to get the list of the files that cause the error.
Then you do xattr -cr <path_to_app_bundle>.
And now you are finally ready to change the code signature using sudo codesign -f -s - <path_to_app_bundle>.

For my case with chrome browser I used the following <path_to_app_bundle> :
/Applications/Google\ Chrome.app
This solved the same problem for me. Thanks a lot 👍

I'm using Little Snitch as firewall and AVG as a basic anti virus tool and I can recommend Nano Adblocker with Nano Defender (an anti-adblock defuser) for Chrome. Last but not least Cyberghost VPN.

Hi dosdude1; jackluke; anyone!

Despite my multiple posts I am still stuck and unable to update so hope you can assist.

Got a MacBook Pro 5,5 with an APFS formatted 10.15.3 macOS Catalina version (working super smooth!) but I am desperate to update to the 10.15.4 supplemental update. To date my attempts with the dosdude1 latest patcher are unsuccessful. Here is the results so hope someone might have an idea! In advance thank you so much as I am looking to solve this mystery!!!
- Created a bootable drive (as usual) and tried with the Catalina version from the patcher as well as a version downloaded from a Catalina supported machine and both result with a "Catalina version is damaged" error message that makes it unable to update existing system. On top of that when booting from the USB, the recovery does not enable me to re-apply the patches to my machine (needed as I have distorted sound... annoying).
- When using the Catalina Patcher to install "on this machine", everything runs perfectly and installer launches as usual to kick off the installation of Catalina. Upon the request to restart (to continue the installation) the restart does not continue the installation but instead restarts in the existing 10.15.3.

I am at a loss right now as tried everything I know hence I reach out to the community! Desperate to update and open to any ideas!

Thank you all in advance!!!

My vlc is running fine.
I just tried it.
No need for any hack there!
In my case just heavy flickering, but can hear sound. Deactivated hw acceleration in the codec settings but doesn't make a difference. Also tried 3.0.6 to no avail. What other options are there? Reset pram or nvram?

EDIT: first checked VLC does work in High Sierra on my internal drive and then did a NVRAM reset. Unfortunately VLC still not working in Catalina 😭

Try this: CatalinaOTAswufix

on non-APFS firmware machine after restart to continue with the "macOS Installer" (either OTA update or install to this machine) you should use this: USBOpenCoreAPFSloader2
