Sooo, I have a question... I have AirDrop working on Catalina 10.15.5 but somehow Continuity does not work. I've tried signing in and out of iCloud, connecting and re-connecting the wifi and bluetooth, but no dice.

When I look in the system report it says:

Bluetooth Low Energy Supported: Yes

Handoff Supported: Yes

Instant Hot Spot Supported: Yes

I am using an ASUS BT-400 dongle in order to get it all to work. But somehow, even if it shows as active, it doesn't work.

Does anybody have an idea how to get it to work?

Try this command xattr -d com.apple.quarantine /the/blocked/program.app
Ah, it finally works. I had to apply both settings _before_ copying the app from the .dmg to app folder.
If done in wrong sequence, it´s ignored and does not start.

Feature request ;-)
Could you add some kind of "apply last settings at startup" at least for screen brightness? That would be great on older CCFL backlit machines where the function keys for brightness do not work.
(The slider bar seems to keep it´s position after re-start or re-login, but it does not update the real backlight setting of the system - only after new click into the slider it updates the brightness).

Great piece of software already, thanks!

Hey bud,

Can you say me how does Catalina goes in your iMac? I have also a 27 late 2009 and thinking about install Catalina by the patcher. I saw that you had some problems with Safari extensions, right?

Can you use directly the App Store to install security updates like in a native system?

Thanks

Hey bud, I have the same iMac. It goes well? Should I install Catalina? Currently on High Sierra.

Thanks
Sorry I saw your message late, except for the Safari extensions, everything works great on my system. But you cant update your mac as a native system. Every new update you must create a new USB installer and install over your system.

my iMac is supported to run Catalina will update my unsupported iMac later on but all you have to do is download the Catalina Patcher 1.4.4 then download a copy of 10.15.6 Final erase a16gb usb to macOS extended-journaled follow the instructions after it is finished installing apply the post install patches for your Mac if you have issues and the update does not install I use the USBOpenCoreAPFSloader 3 on a spare 1gb usb after the first phase completes and reboots I hold my option button then select the OpenCoreAPFSloader3 and from the menu select macOS Install and then it should install then upon reboot hold the option button select the Catalina Patcher usb then apply the post install patches

I dont mean to be a noob do you create a new usb installer using the patcher and then boot from the usb and reinstall the os over existing install to upgrade. Sorry for the noob questions?
Yes you can install over your existing Catalina without losing files or settings

I recently purchased a 2011 2.3Ghz Mac Mini (The Intel graphics one) and was attempting to upgrade it to Catalina.

I was able to reinstall Lion, then upgraded to El Capitan, then High Sierra as outlined by Dosdude1's instructions. These all were installed just fine.

I then downloaded and tried installing Dosdude1's Catalina patcher, but it has been stuck on this screen for about 24 hours.

Since I've let it sit this long I don't want to do anything to impede progress.

I tried using alt-l and Windows-l (and I) and it hasn't given any log or anything.

I downloaded the 1.4.4 patcher and downloaded Catalina the night of July 13, 2020, not sure which version.

Everything else was followed to a T.

Any ideas on what I should do? Should I turn it off and attempt to reinstall or is there something else I can do to monitor progress?

Thanks for all of your help!

Ah. I have Catalina 10.15.4 already installed. Hmmmm
[automerge]1593539163[/automerge]
Does choosing 'download' in the patcher download the 10.15.5 version? I am showing no available updates (being on 10.15.4) so I am not sure if the 'full download' will be 10.15.4 again. Thanks!

I have the same issue: Installed Patched Catalina on a Mac Pro 5,1 two weeks ago and it only went up to 10.15.4. I redid the patcher USB two days ago and tried installing again - same result.

I'd like to figure this out, but I guess I will just wait for word on the 10.15.6 patch?

Will we be able to just install the new patch over the current install, or does it wipe it? (I'm new to the patch life.)

Thanks.

Ran @dosdude1 Patcher v.1.4.4 to D/L the 10.15.6.00 installer, made a new 32GB USB patched installer, restart, install began slowly but less than 45 minutes total, reboot into dot6, process dallied for a few minutes at 3/5 on the light screen and the same at 4/5 black screen, then completed installation successfully basically on autopilot onto a APFS SSHDD partition. As with all of @dosdude1 efforts, patience is essential.

If you are using the Catalina Patcher 1.4.4 it should download the latest update

I downloaded the most recent patcher from dosdude1's website each time.

Did you install this over an existing Catalina install, or did you do a fresh install?
