try resetting your pram command-option-P and R on boot up then try booting in the Catalina Patcher another thing you can try if you have a removable battery power off your MacBook, unplug everything even your usb's, hubs , power cord then remove your battery then hit the power button a few time then replace your battery plug in your power cord and everything else then power on

Out of luck, tried resetting pram, usb pluged before auto restart and usb pluged after auto restart. Also removing battery same result, Booteable usb isnt shown. No USB on Startup Disk too. Exist any alternative to install post patches manually?

it's really weird since now i don't know how i will do if i want fresh install bootable usb not working

Hi. Yesterday I updated Office 2019 to 16.40 and today the problem appears to be solved. I don't know if the update fixed it. I will update here soon. Thanks for the help @TimothyR734 !

Hello Everyone,
I can confirm the reinstall of MS Office 16.39 (without need to de-install existing application) will solve the non-launch problem after update to 10.15.5 cheers

Update: after several boots once reinstalled Office 2019, the problem of "no launch" came back on first try of Office app start (with error message but able to open after 2nd/3rd try). Afterwards, as suggested in prior posts, I did go into terminal mode via usb dosdude patcher and did the "nvram.....get_out_of_my_way" line command and for now are able to launch Office apps on first launch.

Can I somehow get Xcode 11 or Xcode 12 without installing the patched Catalina?
Is it possible to somehow patch Xcode instead?

Hello,
I have a Macmini 5.1
after an update from 10.15.4 to 10.15.6 with dosdude's tool 1.4.4, i don't see any users logging in anymore.
I can't login on 10.15.6.

I followed dosdude's video instructions.
What can I still do there?
Thanks for your help

Hello,
I'll answer it myself.
I tried the update to 10.15.6 several times, never the users were there.
Now I did a new installation 10.15.6 incl. patches with dosdude Toll and afterwards a data transfer from the 10.15.3 system. Now elles runs so far.
Except for the display problem of the tiles in the Home APP.
Thanks to all

Since some applications crash, this command was still important:
Code:
sudo nvram boot-args=amfi_get_out_of_my_way=0x1

Are your formatting the usb extended-journaled before making the Catalina Patcher and it has to be at least 16gb. is your SIP disabled sometime resetting Pram reenables SIP

Guys, luckily I was able to install Catalina on a clean ssd. After many different attempts I formatted my external ssd in journaled and installed it in mbp 7.1. Then it was just bootable by Catalina usb and finally 15.6 installed. Thank you all

usb extended-journaled check, used the same usb installing my actual catalina 10.5.5 but now not shown anywhere while is booting. Using command-R trying to disable SIP, i found the option "post install patches" but this error occurs "An error ocurred while applying patches (1)"

Trying to disable csrutil from command+R, shows failed to modify system integrity configuration. This tool needs to be executed from the Recovery OS and using command+R+S too.

maybe sip disable is the last hope but that error doesnt want me to complete the job

Edited:
Using csrutil status in my terminal shows:

jesus@MacBook-de-Jesus ~ % csrutil status
System Integrity Protection status: unknown (Custom Configuration).

Configuration:
Apple Internal: disabled
Kext Signing: disabled
Filesystem Protections: disabled
Debugging Restrictions: disabled
DTrace Restrictions: disabled
NVRAM Protections: disabled
BaseSystem Verification: disabled

This is an unsupported configuration, likely to break in the future and leave your machine in an unknown state.

I am trying to update Catalina on my late 2009 Mac mini from 10.15 to 10.15.2 using Patcher 1.30. The problem I am having is that the boot medium created does not complete booting. I get the no entry sign.

Running in verbose mode, the script stops very early on at "IOUSB matching". I have tried with a USB flash drive and with an SSD hooked up to a GoFlex FW800 adapter as the update medium. Both halt at the same spot. There are no firmware updates for my Mini.

Any ideas?
Hi

Did you ever get past this? I'm hitting the same error when trying to fresh install latest 10.15 (patcher 1.4.4) on iMac 11,1 currently running 10.13.6?

Any pointers?

Cheers

I’ve made little scripts for some apps I know, sometimes don’t start.
(You probably need to rerun the script a few times, after a fresh install of Chrome, I needed to rerun the script 3 times.)
Code: any.app - Contents - Resources - Scripts - main.scpt

I redownloaded the Catalina Patcher and all went smoothly. Am now on 10.15.2 and since Dosdude hasn't updated the patcher since, that is as far as it will go. The patcher notes say that some bugs on installation may be due to a corrupt patcher, so it is worth scrapping what you have and downloading everything again.

That is normal to see that when SIP is disabled and it needs to be kept disabled or the patches could stop working, you could have booted into the Catalina Patcher and used the terminal in the app to disable SIP then tried apply the post install patches

Catalina Patcher 1.4.4 does download 10.15.6 then you create a new Catalina patcher and install

I set it to install to the same machine and it just upped me to 10.15.2, so I assumed it only dowloaded 10.15.2. Tried it after manually downloading 10.15.6 and it went through the install process in about 2 mins and didn't seem to do much and left me on 10.15.2. So I have made a USB installer and it's doing its thing now. About another 15 mins or so to go.

For me it didn't work; Usb was created with the 1.4.4 patcher and 10.15.6 but once booted I had "The installer is damaged, and can't be used to install macOS" and accordingly to instructions that means "using a release of the macOS Catalina Installer App that is incompatible with the version of Catalina Patcher you are using".
This didn't happen with 10.15.5.
After installing 10.15.5 I was able to use the software updates fix, install 10.15.6 and patch with the 10.15.5 usb pendrive.
Macbook Pro 4,1

PS: would be great to have 10.15.6 usb installer: can you confirm (or not) installer creation compatibility of 10.15.6 with 1.4.4?

I have had the exact same problem. I have a clean SSD to install alongside my Mojave install. As I want to install open core, the directions note to do this on a fresh install. I have tried creating the installer on multiple USB sticks and redownloaded the OS more than once, even once on a supported laptop straight from the App Store. Every time I try it, I get the installer is damaged message. My system is a 5,1. Is there a good place to download 10.15.5 instead of the .6 release?

I use gibMacOS available on github. Run it to download the os (I used it for 10.15.6 first, then for 10.15.5), then use the BuildmacOSInstallApp (included in gibMacOS) to create the installation app, then use dosdude patcher 1.4.4 to create the usb stick.

I installed 10.15.6 using the Catalina Patcher 1.4.4 and even downloaded to create the patcher. I have read for those having issues running an app called OnyX fixes the issues some people are having

I did this yesterday. I downloaded 10.15.6 separately from the AppStore then pointed the patcher to it and made an installation thumb drive. It worked without issue to upgrade my installation from 10.15.2. My problems stemmed from trying to upgrade directly from my existing Catalina installation without making a USB installer. It didn't fail or show any error message when running from my hard drive. It just didn't seem to do much until I booted from an external drive.

In my experience, the “Installer is damaged” error is almost always SIP being at least partially enabled. Even if csrutil status returns a “disabled” status, simply type csrutil disable and reboot and magically that “damaged” installer works just fine again. Another easy way to tell if this is the issue is to open disk utility, the partitions will be unmounted and will not allow you to mount them. Again, csrutil disable and reboot back to the installer.

Thanks for the tip, but it seems strange that I tried at the same time 10.15.6 which failed and 10.15.5 which succeeded; same usb stick generated from another mac, without playing with the terminal. SIP was always disabled since long time.

For those in the same boat: I have been able to get my Safari extensions enabled without having to go the complex and time-consuming route of first installing a pre 10.15.3 Catalina, enabling the extensions and then updating to 10.15.5.

I'v managed to get the Safari version from 10.5.0 running on 10.15.5, by replacing /Applications/Safari.app and the Safari*.framework directories in /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks. I have extracted these files from a 10.15.0 installer using Pacifist. Short manual:

Be careful, this requires some knowledge and insights in the working of .pkg packages. But all in all it can be done in a few minutes, when you have the necessary files ar your disposal.

- Extract /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Safari*.framework en /System/Applications/Safari.app from the 10.5.0 installer using Pacifist
- Make sure the system partition is mounted writable (sudo mount -UW /)
- Backup /Applications/Safari.app and /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Safari*.framework.
- Replace /Applications/Safari.app and /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Safari*.framework with the versions extracted from 10.15.0
- reboot
- again: Make sure the system partition is mounted writable (sudo mount -UW /)
- Open Safari and enable extensions. Note you're now running the Safari version from 10.15.0.
- Restore /Applications/Safari.app and /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Safari*.framework from the backup
- Reboot

When done correctly, you'll be back on the latest Safari version, but now with your extensions enabled.

Thank you for these instructions to fix the dreaded "cannot enable Safari extensions" problem - very helpful (though very hard to surprisingly to find a 10.15.0 download of Catalina)

Do you know how to get this enabled for Safari Technology Preview? Unfortunately STP doesn't work with these instructions

This ended up doing the trick. It always seems to be something simple. The hard part was figuring out that my recovery partition was missing, but I made short work of that by doing a quick High Sierra install. Then I booted into the recovery partition, disabled SIP, and I was off to the races! Catalina 10.15.6! Now to get Open Core working, so I can have a boot screen again.

Using rEFInd chainloader to OpenCore on MacPro3,1 no issues getting to rEFInd boot screen, Opencore is the first Icon and I have no issues booting into Catalina from the OpenCore picker but from rEFInd main boot screen if I boot from the Catalina drive from that screen I get the forbidden sign. Followed Dayo's Guide everything seems to work fine except booting to Catalina from the rEFInd main screen. I am still on Catalina 10.5.2 and Catalina is installed on a SSD drive bay1.

Off topic question. Do we need to enable trim support on Catalina APFS? I read one post on Reddit having both trim support and APFS may be an issue for SSD. I don't see a difference in boot times.

Edited 8-3-20:

Resolved by installing a fresh copy of Catalina 10.15.6 Dosdude1 patch seem to help with the graphics card GTS 8800 issue I was having various issues on my Samsung UN40MU6300 TV, once I installed the dosdude1 graphics legacy patch it fixed the scale issues. After running P&R reset and refreshing/Re-Blessing EFI the Catalina Icon from the rEFInd boot screen boot Catalina finally. There was never an issue booting Catalina from OpenCore Icon at all, just the drive Catalina Icon now fixed.
