Im running 10.15.1 for so long on my MacBook Pro 5,3 and wanted to go to 15.5.6 but I cant make my make boot from usb.
First I used dos dude patcher to download and then install on this machine option.. it'll do its thing very quickly then reboot to the same 10.15.1..
Then I tried to make a bootable device.. have already tested 3 on both USB ports of my machine and no deal so far..
Tried two sands pen drives.. 16 and 32Gb.. Tried with a HDD as well. No luck. They won't show as a option to boot from.

What else can I do? Reset PRAM NVRAM would make any sense?

Hi guys.. I need some help here. I don't know what else to try.

Hi guys.. I need some help here. I don't know what else to try.

first you can help us better understand what you are doing by adding more detail. I would: Download the latest patcher. from the patcher download the os. then make a HFS flash drive to install into. once you have the install flash drive hold down the option when booting to select the flash drive or go to system preferences and select the flash drive as the start up and reboot.

you should boot to the flash drive…

Oh, I thought the patcher would already format it APFS.. must be it then. Thank you! Will try then report here.

I strongly disagree with your comments. You obviously need help, but are unable to ask for it. You can choose to stay away from this forum, or to post in a civil manner.
Or just buy a Mac Catalina able. I really don´t understand this kind of people.

I was about to do this, but I've managed 10 years with my 13" 2010 MBP. I don't want to invest in a secondhand Mac that would be probably near or halfway to the price of an upcoming Mac.

There were rumours of a 2020 16" MBP – a fresh redesign with miniLED display, thin bezels and Face ID. Honestly, it probably won't happen, but even if it's their final Intel refresh – I'm buying it. I need to use Bootcamp & Linux for college, and would rather not depend on virtualisation software.

I made a thread with a poll, and people were on the fence. Nobody has any idea if we'll see a Late 2020 16"

Hi guys.. I need some help here. I don't know what else to try.
Try another brand of usb like toshiba. Format usb to mac Extended journaled and then proceed with making the patched usb installer. Hope you are not selecting afps for your usb drive.Afps is only selected if you are making your internal partition to be the destination.
you can also follow the post above.

I have just released version 1.3.6 of Catalina Patcher, which should fix the issue where some third-party applications wouldn't launch. If you have been having this issue, you can either use the latest Catalina Patcher version, or run "sudo nvram boot-args=amfi_get_out_of_my_way=0x1" in Terminal, and then reboot.
[automerge]1585672919[/automerge]

Run "sudo nvram boot-args=amfi_get_out_of_my_way=0x1" in Terminal then reboot. That should take care of that issue.

Hi.

I have a macbook 2008 (5.1), I have updated it with the latest published catalina patch and the same thing happens to me with various software. I execute the command "sudo nvram boot-args = amfi_get_out_of_my_way = 0x1", everything works normal, however when I have installed webex, it does not allow you to access the microphone and the camera, the same thing happens to me for MS teams and zoom, it turns out that the access is restricted. I delete the nvram "sudo nvram -d boot-args" boot again and it already allows them access to the microphone and the camera. Is there a patch for that ?? Thanks in advance.

How did you install Catalina and how did you boot into it before installing MyBootMgr?

If you always use OpenCore to boot into Mac OS as the MyBootMgr guide says, trim support would already be enabled if you have not changed the provided OpenCore Config files with respect to this. I forget the specific config option. You can refer to the OpenCore docs for details.

Everything working now except Trim Support after installing 10.15.6 trim support is not enabled. Never mind it's working now. The only thing left for me is to try and figure out how to get Canopy to work using OC_ALT, I enabled OpenCanopy and External for Boot Picker with the Resources from OC Github and I just get a black screen and a reboot.

Hi dosdude1,
Does the latest 1.3.6 patcher add Japanese support as a selectable option in the post-install, or do we have to jump through the other hoops separately here in this thread to get Japanese language working? Are there any gotchas for installing latest Cat on a iMac 2011 in which the GPU has been changed to a metal-supporting nVidia K2100m with Nick's vbios? Will I still need to use the OpenCore bootloader for keyboard brightness support?

Yes , I understand what you say. If I buy a new one, it would be an intel. I need to run sometimes native windows also.
Maybe when they launcn the ARM version, prices in the second hand market drops.

Won't you have the option disabled?
From preferences, Trackpad activates the option -touch clip- with the mouse.
and you can from the trackpad.
It happened to me in MPB 5.5

The latest Patcher version is 1.4.4. I haven't added any fixes for Japanese language support yet, but it shouldn't be an issue on the 2011 iMac, only machines that don't support SSE4.2. The latest version should run fine with your configuration.

Just installed Catalina 10.15.6 on an early 2011 MBP. Having trouble with 3rd party apps crashing because of gatekeeper even though I have it set to allow apps from anywhere. SIP is disabled.

Have you tried running the following from the terminal and rebooting? sudo nvram boot-args=amfi_get_out_of_my_way=0x1
