Hi highvoltage12v,
Thanks for your great work! I have an unsupported Mac (MacBook Pro 13-inch, Late 2011 with macOS Mojave, Version 10.14.6, patched thanks to DosDude1), working wonderfull, exept for the Displayport output. Is there any way you can help me to get it work? Thanks in advanced.
If you disabled, as you should, the discrete GPU, by hardware or software, you will have no displayport out. Anyway, other functionalities of the thunderbolt port remain intact. Also, no bootcamp display.

I have no such combination to test DisplayPort+HD3000 output as all MacBook Pros that I own are 15" SandyBridge models. I could only guess your Board ID needs to be added To AppleGraphicsControl.kext/applegraphicsdevicepolicy/info.plist to bring back DisplayPort output. Did it happen to stop working after the latest 2020-003 security update? That's when Apple made these changes.
Hello highvoltage12v,
Thank you very much for your answer.
As far as I have read/learn about this subject, I think you are right with your guess: my Board ID needs to be added to AppleGraphicsControl.kext/applegraphicsdevicepolicy/info.plist
If you can help me with the folowing two questions, I´ll appreciate it
1. Where/how can I look for my Board ID?
2. How do I add it to AppleGraphicsControl.kext/applegraphicsdevicepolicy/info.plist
(yes, I know....I haven´t read/learn enough jet....?).

I couldn´t tell you exactly when it started to happen, because since I upgraded to Mojave with magnificent DosDude1 Patch, I didn´t use an external monitor any more. Maybe it started there!

Never the less, I also upgraded a friend´s MacBook Pro (15-inch, Late 2011), and guess what, when a tried to use MiniDisplayport, I couldn´t either. I have to say that, in this case, I also soft-disabled the AMDRadeon HD 6750M "dedicated" graphic card (also using DosDude1´s genius-clever solution).

When I use my son´s or my wife´s MacBook Pro (both 13-inch, Mid 2012) with High Sierra and Mojave respectively, I have no problem using my external monitor...?.

For sure, Apple don´t like that we upgrade unsupported Macs to a newer macOS.....?

Thanks in advanced for your help.

I tried to disable sip in recovery (cmd+r) but:

csrutil: failed to modify system integrity configuration. This tool needs to be executed from the Recovery OS.

I've got a patched installer of Catalina using Dosdude's Catalina Patcher for use with my 2009 mac mini - one thing I noticed is that upon boot, the only networking interface I have available is the Firewire one (for which I don't have any way to connect); this is a problem since I want to do a time machine restore from my time capsule, but can't do so because there's no network interface for my ethernet (or even wifi) available from the installer or recovery mode.

Does anyone know if it's possible to enable the ethernet via the command line?

Hi everyone!
Have trouble with Macbook 7.1(White) a1342 running latest Catalina 10.15.6. My Wifi adapter can use N-mode and 5GHZ-mode only after 3 times in a row reapplying Legacy Wifi patch. After that all working fine untill....next reboot.
Airport Extreme (0x14E4 0x93)
Broadcom BCM43xx 1.0 (5.106.98.102.31)
Region RoW

Also is there any way to fix AirDrop?

Thanks for your help

MBP-de-koyado:~ koyado$ csrutil status
System Integrity Protection status: unknown (Custom Configuration).

Configuration:
Apple Internal: disabled
Kext Signing: disabled
Filesystem Protections: disabled
Debugging Restrictions: disabled
DTrace Restrictions: disabled
NVRAM Protections: disabled
BaseSystem Verification: disabled

This is an unsupported configuration, likely to break in the future and leave your machine in an unknown state.

How Disable SIP???

Hi everyone,

This is my first time posting in this forum, and I'm really in need of some help. I have an iMac and a MacBook Pro that I upgraded to Catalina (10.15.6) via dosdude1's patcher tool, as well as some other devices I'd really like to extend the use of. The hardware is just fine and I know a lot of people that need devices for videoconferencing right now. My problem is I can't seem to get Zoom working right, and that's the primary purpose for these devices right now. I've read a lot of this forum thread, and tried every potential solution I could find.

The issue with Zoom seems to be only with the camera feed. It just shows black.

I executed dosdude1's zoomnonmetal.command and it says it patched Zoom, but it still won't work.

I checked permissions, and everything is granted just fine. It asked for microphone and camera access, and shows up under Security & Privacy.

I tried the older version of Zoom that people are recommending, and if I go to preferences it will show the camera feed working. However because it's such an old version, it cannot connect to Zoom servers to join a meeting.

Most of these computers are for others to use, so I'd prefer a solution that I can be reasonably sure will continue to work for the next year or two. But right now I'll take any solutions I can get.

Thanks in advance!

I made it to the Install page, but I'm getting a "This version of macOS 10.15.6 cannot be installed on this computer" when presented with list of drives. The SSD was formatted APFS.
I'm using a cMP, 4,1 upgraded to 5.1.

The solution that will continue to work with third party apps for the next year or two, for other non-technical people using the system, is to buy a Mac of 2015 or more recent.

I'm sorry, but that's the deal. This here is just a hack that mostly works, but has its warts.

There appears to be some decent advice how to get a second hand Mac here: https://www.reddit.com/r/LukeMianiYouTube/

You could also hang on till the Apple Silicon MacBooks in October-December.

At the bottom end you might scrape along with any Metal compatible Mac (see Big Sur on unsupported Macs thread).

Zoom in particular should also work on iPads (& iPhones) I believe (e.g. new min. € 389 + stand + bluetooth keyboard). Not sure how well it works with iPhone + HDMI adapter for example, if you want a bigger screen. You can be imaginative at the low end, but it's hard to endorse it as a good solution.

Hello, after installing Catalina 15.6 I have to turn on Mac 2011 with Alt, the problem is not turning on the matrix after installation, sound works.

Installing dosdude on a 2009 4,1 -> 5,1 cMacPro, this is as far as it goes. SSD has been formatted to APFS.

You can't, it's in firmware. You'd have to "burn" a new serial# to the chip
I am not sure if you can have an new serial with the same logic board. These numbers are related somehow to help with user identification when using iMessage and iCloud etc.

You can restore your old serial, a tedious and complicated procedure done normally by a few experts for a fee. You will unlikely get this for free.

Got it once done for an Mac mini 2012 which lost the serial after OS upgrade...fees are around 50 USD?

Greetings, I have an imac 21.5 mid 2010. I have upgraded the GPU to a GTX780 and installed Catalina. IMac boots up but screen goes black. Instead it did start with the alt key pressed and then Catalina started if the screen works. Can someone guide me to see what I do wrong?

Possibly the wrong thread, read the first post mentioned in my signature and search for black screen there...additionally the power supply of an 21.5" is barely able to provide the power, the heat sink of an 21.5 is not able to transport the heat outside the machine. You will not have a stable system, possibly not have real long living GPU. We warned about doing this in the very same post.

well. The point is, in my 2011 iMac 27 'I have a k1000 graphics card but with the Catalina 15.6 system working, but after setting the startup disk I have a black screen when switching on. gong is heard. I have to switch on with ALT for the screen to turn on.
