I downloaded gibMacOS and then, Downloaded catalina, then I ran BuildmacOSInstallApp.command producing install macOS Catalina. but when I run from a usb or install in place on the machine I get an error that components are missing and the install quits…

are there other instructions to follow…?

Did only the ƒ with the product # get dropped into the BuildmacOSInstallApp. window? And not the enclosing ƒ? Worked perfectly using the v.1.4.4 patcher on three machines, a iMac11,2, MB5,1 and Mini3,1. You got H15 and not H4 which is also on the list? Missing components may mean not all of the pieces got D/L into the product ID ƒolder. Since no problems at all were encountered here, these are speculations. Good luck.

After upgrading to 10.15 my Mac Pro 3.1 don't show the download rate in the activity display, as well as in apps like Netler. The upload rate is showing up ... ?
Anyone with this problem and /or the solution ?
Thanks !

Hello.
I have a strange issue since I updated to Catalina my iMac late 2009 using DosDude1 patcher. Do you have any ideas?

Cheers.
I had the exact same problem. After googling, I came across the fix for my Late 2009 iMac i7 that worked. You need SwitchResX and you have to set the color depth to Millions of Colors from the default of Billions of Colors. Restart Photos and you won't see those heat map like photos anymore! LOL

Thanks a million, man! You have pointed me into this direction and I'd started googling it myself to find something less „expansive” (I don’t actually need commercial software – well, okay, ‘shareware’ – just for the one function, with all its daemons and menus, and notifications) and I found it. It’s a simple command line tool/binary which, if placed in /usr/local/bin and given execute permissions, can be run straight from Terminal and even shortened with an alias.
It’s https://github.com/jakehilborn/displayplacer and it’s a real life saver for me.

Thanks again to you and, obviously, its author, Jake Hilborn!

✌? ??

I had to use gibMacOS-Master and dosdudes program to get mine to work. And it only worked by updating through dosdudes program because the macos-patcher-3.4.6 ran fine but when I would go to reboot my mid 2010 IMAC it would crash or just blink the screen and boot off of the internal HD.
Dosdudes only pulled the older version of Catalina so needed gibMacOS-Master to build a 19H15 installer and point to it from dosdudes program and then did a upgrade on my internal HD it is the only way I could get it to work.
Hope this helps someone else out.

Does anyone have Siri.app and SiriUI.framework for Catalina. I found out after an update that these two components broke. If anyone is willing to send these two files that would be appreciated.

Siri broke completely after updating to 10.15.7. Maybe it's just my instilation but I found that these two files got corrupted most likely. Siri won't even load up. I just need these two files from a working install of Catalina, with Siri working as well.

MS Office 2019 issues on a MacBook Pro 13" late 2011 with OS X 15.7 (installed through Catalina Patcher)

After re-installing MS Office two times already I'm running constantly in an issue with MS Office, that is just annoying. Whenever I start an Office app - mostly Word, PP or Excel - I am being asked to enter my password, e.g. "microsoft Word wants to access key "Microsoft Office Credentials" in your keychain." I enter my password, hit 'always allow' but I'm being constantly asked again the next time I'm going to open Word or any other Office app.
Screenshot 2020-11-18 at 07.21.52.png

After this, I get the information: "Word can not open this document template. (Users/myusername/Library/Grup Container...)" which I can confirm with OK.
Screenshot 2020-11-18 at 07.22.17.png

Being then in the Word menu there are no recent documents shown - nothing. It just says "Recent documents will appear here."
Screenshot 2020-11-18 at 07.22.36.png

The same goes for all other MS Office apps. I'm running the latest version (Word 16.43 (20110804) and I use a volume license from my company.

Any help would be highly appreciated since the issue has most probably something to do with the patcher or 10.15.7. However, I couldn't find anything via google. :/

Hi there!

My experience with dosdude1's Catalina patcher has been great so far, using it mainly in my MacPro 3,1.
I installed yesterday in a MacBook 5,1 (unibody 2008), in a separate disk from the main one, which has patched Mojave already.
However, and bearing in mind that it's a laptop, I FileVaulted the test disk, once I double checked that the disk was able to boot on its own while unencrypted.
After encryption finished, I was unable to boot from that disk anymore. It stopped at the boot screen and I was unable even to see the preboot login screen.
Do you know any workaround to make Filevault work in Catalina as it works in Mojave?

Thanks!
I have used FileValut on MacBook 5,1 ever since the patcher was released without any issues, therefore I would theorize that your issues are related to your implementation with more than one disk.

Hello there :)!
I have a MacBook Pro 13' late 2011. I intended on updating it to Mac OS Catalina.
If it is possible, Can any one please tell me about the performance?
Currently I am on Mac OS Mojave and it freezes a lot with some graphic anomalies. Is it better on Catalina?

Just upgraded a MacBook 7,1 that was running Catalina 10.15.6 to 10.15.7 and WiFi has stopped working, well sort of. My network shows up in the network list, but if I try connecting to it I get "The network could not be found.". I've tried re-applying all patches a few times, but that has not helped. Any ideas?

Oh and they said it couldn't take 16gb of ram it does. 512 GB SSD and 16gb of ram runs just as well compared to a 2012 that got Catalina as the last update. Even though the graphics card is a NVIDIA 320m and the core two duo. The core two duo is actually not as bad as people make it seem to be.

I can play most 1080p videos on it. I would say that if you want the best performance as far as video use Vlc player. Firefox usually runs a bit better than safari but the nvidia 320m is good enought compared to a Intel hd 3000 that came out a year after the NVIDIA 320m did. Performance is better in some areas compared to some Intel HD cards.

Hi, I have solved the problem with this command sequence:

Download libopencv_world.4.4.0.dylib from here:
Code:
https://www.sendspace.com/file/meab5g

copy it to Photoshop 2021 Framework directory:
Code:
sudo cp libopencv_world.4.4.0.dylib /Applications/Adobe\ Photoshop\ 2021/Adobe\ Photoshop\ 2021.app/Contents/Frameworks/

Download libopenjp2.7.dylib from here:
Code:
https://www.sendspace.com/file/59abvl

copy it to:
Code:
sudo cp -p libopenjp2.7.dylib /usr/local/opt/openjpeg/lib/

From the second libopencv_world.4.4.0.dylib downloadable from here:
Code:
https://www.sendspace.com/file/jwxnni

copy only libtesseract.4.dylib and liblept.5.dylib:
Code:
sudo cp -p libtesseract.4.dylib /usr/local/opt/tesseract/lib/
sudo cp -p liblept.5.dylib /usr/local/opt/leptonica/lib/

Install Brew
Code:
/bin/bash -c "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Homebrew/install/master/install.sh)"

Code:
brew install libpng
brew install giflib
brew install libtiff
brew install webp

That's all

Maybe someone can achieve this with less commands using only brew

Great work. And elegant. I can confirm that this solution works.

Procedure:

0. Download files from sources specified in #12,763.

0.1. Use CC Cleaning Tool to completely remove all CC programs; it’ll take you just a half an hour or so to reinstall all the staff later.
0.2. Run Spotlight and type “adobe” in Spotlight Search field.
0.3. Choose “Show all in Finder” In Results List.
0.4. Move all leftovers to Bin. Empty Bin.

1. Use Terminal.

2. Remove all old previously created/copied folders and files (from /usr/local/ and libopencv_world,4.4.0.dylib from /Applications/Adobe Photoshop 2021/Adobe Photoshop 2021.app/Contents/Frameworks/) – simply move them to Bin. Empty Bin.

3. Create 3 folders:

/usr/local/opt/openjpeg/lib/
/usr/local/opt/tesseract/lib/
/usr/local/opt/leptonica/lib/

(example: sudo mkdir -p /usr/local/opt/openjpeg/lib/).

4. Copy libopenjp2.7.dylib, libtesseract.4.dylib, liblept.5.dylib into appropriate folders as described in #12,763.

5. Install Brew exactly following instructions from #12,763.

6. Install libpng, giflib, libtiff, webp libraries exactly following instructions from #12,763.

7. Install PS. Don’t run it.

8. Copy libopencv_world.4.4.0.dylib to /Applications/Adobe\ Photoshop\ 2021/Adobe\ Photoshop\ 2021.app/Contents/Frameworks/ as described in #12,763.

9. Restart (old Windows’ prejudices).

10. Run PS. Most likely it’ll crash. Pay no attention.

11. Run PS again. In a drop-down window It’ll explain the reason it crashed at the first launch and how it has healed itself.

Thank you.
Hi guys. I followed your instructions to a tee, and indeed got Photoshop CC 2021 to launch and even managed to mess a bit with its preferences, have its panels open without the application frame, etc.

The thing is, the Open dialog soft locks (it doesn't beachball or crash the app, and I can close it, but it never progresses past the loading indicator), and any operation that involves, you know, actually using Photoshop (like opening files by dragging them directly to its icon or creating new ones), instantly crashes it.

What am I doing wrong? Is this a limitation of my machine (a MacBook7,1)? Wasn't this supposed to be a fix for Adobe's stupid exclusion of machines without SSE4.2 support?

Anyway, here's a couple of crash logs:

Dear dosdude1, I'm new to MacRumors so forgive me if I am using this wrong. I am running Sierra (not High Sierra) on a late 2012 iMac and want to keep it on that OS for legacy software. I want to use Parallels Desktop to create a virtual Catalina machine. I need to create a USB installer drive to do that. In your MacOS Catalina Patcher you offer "APFS BootROM Support" to install the latest BootROM. Will that goof me up to use that? Must I use that? When I install Catalina, I want to set it to Mac OS Extended (Journaled), not APFS, so that I will have the same access to files and drives that Sierra works with.

You don't need patcher for virtual machine installation.

I had the same issue on my MacBook5,1. For me, deleting all known wifi networks and connecting again to my local wifi solved the problem.
