Help, could someone point me in the right direction? I’m trying to install macOS Catalina on a iMac, 10,1 that was running High Sierra before. I get this message during install after 23 minutes remaining. When I boot it goes into the install loop. The drive is APFS but after three attempts I get the same message. I used the patch from @dosdude1

Try disabling SIP and then try the install again.

Help needed.
MacBook Pro 17" 2011 GPU disabled with Tiresias GPUkiller, installed high sierra latest

forgot to save a backup

installed catalina with patcher from @dosdude
  • Current Version: 1.4.4
all seems to be good. after installing i got a window with an offer for 3 updates (postinstall)

I did it and after installing i am in a boot loop now. in Verbose mode got this:
20210603_101014.jpg

For testing I made a clone with carbon copy cloner

the cloned SSD I pluged in to a 2015 MacBook, same problem

now installed big sur on the patched catalina disk
after that it starts normaly all ok, backed it up with time machine

now i have a new ssd, installed high sierra latest and again on the 17" 2011 installed the @dosdude patcher
again after installation i got the offe with the 3 updates, this time it worked. have a running catalina now on the 17" 2011 macbook pro

I installed high sierra fresh and tried to migrate from the big sur installion, running on the 2015 macbook, but no chance, got message, the source is using a newr installation ...

the problem is it is i want to have the data back into the catalina installation

i have
- new SSD with patched catalina from @dosdude working good on this 17" macbook pro 2011
- the "old" ssd with working high sierra and all data, patched with @dosdude pcatalina patcher, now in bootloop,
picture above
- other ssd with big sur installion and full working with all data, of course not working on the 17" machine
- from the working big sur installation saved time machine backup

Please help me.

Did you run the patcher again after installing the updates? You must run the Post-Install patches after every system update. Even if you ran them, run them again (even multiple times), and try checking the Force Cache Rebuild option as well.

Another question, I noticed that internet sharing isn't working after upgrading. I click start to enable internet sharing but it keeps searching and searching and never actually connects. Any tips?

yes, thats good idea. i created a bootable stick and installed all "over" the existing data and tata all is ok.
but coing again the update window, after installing this and restart it hangs again.

so i installed again all over the "old" without installing the "libary validation disable..." i have no problems.
the intresting is on a fresh deletet ssd fresh installed all is ok including all the updates.

so the problem is when installing the update "libary validation disable..." on the "old data and then restart

i try now
install with usb stick on the existing data
time machine backup
delete a new ssd
install fresh all including all updates
booting from usb stick and restoring the tm backup (directly by the migration assistant is not working)

then i will repaort back

that dont work.

so i will install all on the "old" data without the libary validation patch.
no other idea, this can be a problem isnt it?

For anyone who is now rocking Catalina 10.15.4 ( 19E266) GM after @dosdude1 update to patcher 1.3.5 and wants to use or have Night Shift on the displays / monitors panel follow the directions below.

To enable tinkering under the hood of the system put the CatalinaAutoMountWriteable file into Library/LaunchDaemons and then reboot.

The Monitor Panel folders are from 10.15.3 and if you put them into the equivalent folders in 10.15.4 the display/monitors will work as they should with Night shift showing.

When doing so open the unzipped MonitorPanels folder ( attached below) and copy its contents. Then find System/Library/MonitorPanels on 10.15.4 open it , delete its contents , before pasting the 10.15.3 folder contents into the empty folder

The same procedure for the MonitorPanel.framework. Unzip. Copy contents of the folder for 10.15.3 and paste into the empty folder for 10.15.4 located at System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MonitorPanel.framework

...and Voila you will have Night Shift working on your 10.15.4 and shown on the Display panel tab

Hi all
having problem with night shift tab
it doesn't show up at display prefpane
although its actually work through Notification Center

try to use file from indiawalah above on (10.15.7)
its partially works
I mean nightshift tab is showed up
but it messed up my display tab
ex: brightness slider missplaced

maybe someone can provide (MonitorPanels and MonitorPanels.Framework) from 10.15.7
thanks before 🍻

Thanks for getting back to me. It’s build 19H2. Let me know if you need anything more.

Attached is a photo as well.

From the Patch Updater in the Utilities ƒ, update the Patches. Each individual or all of the patches can be updated from there. Always Force Cache Rebuild if offered. Also, Build 19H15 is the latest full release with Security Updates 19H1217. FWIW

From the sound of it, I think the problem is you are installing Catalina when we are asking you to install the Post-Install Patches. Once you “install” Catalina from the usb drive, and then “install” the updates that are presented in the software update preference pane, you need to boot to your USB patcher drive, but do NOT choose install macOS Catalina, choose the post-install patches at the bottom of the window and click apply. Is that what you have been doing?

There is a possibility that macOS booting with Firewire 800 in Catalina could return? 🤫
Yes, I'm currently booted into Catalina via Firewire 800. We might have that included into OpenCore Legacy Patcher; see my issue filed there.
That could also be accomplished by patching/replacing the Firewire kernel extensions on the Catalina root volume.

Perhaps it will appear in the dosdude1 patcher, as well? v.1.4.4 is amazing but it's been around for awhile. 😁

A better bet may be to wait OCLP supporting Catalina. It would end the update pain we have and had recently. It is only a matter of basic root volume patching in the old style and collecting the legacy video patches - most likely the very same ones working with Big Sur will work on Catalina in the same way.

(on metal enabled systems (MacPro and iMac) OLCP already runs Catalina perfectly)

Thanks, I ran the Patch Updater and it said up to date. I was able to enable OTA software updates via CatalinaOTAswufix app in order to bring the machine up to date to the current build of 19H1217. Also got zoom video working via tccplus but still internet sharing doesn't seem to be working but it's not the end of the world if there is no fix for it. @K two are you running Catalina and able to use internet sharing to share wifi to other devices?

Yes via Ethernet, Pan and Firewire also avail. Currently on Build 19H1304, a Beta for SU 2021-004. There is now a new one - 19H1309, recently seeded. I had various Sharing issues w/2021-003, btw. SMB between Macs and Screen Sharing were both broken. Fixed, now. 😉

After installing Catalina on my Mac Mini Server mid-2011 (MacMini5,3) and running the post-install patching (with rebuilding of caches) I'm only getting Safari 14.1.1 in the list of available updates. None of the supplemental updates, or the security updates, show up. Consequently the installation is stuck on vanilla 10.15.7 (19H2). Any advice?

Hi, I just installed Catalina 10.15.7 using Catalina Patcher v1.4.4 on a 2010 MBP. First time, previously running High Sierra. I've been reading that I need to patch Zoom in order to work but so far Zoom Version 5.6.6 (950) seems to be working fine. Am i missing something? thanks.
