Oh no! Now I have a bigger problem I'm using Cyberghost with the app and the Wireguard protocol. When I connect to the VPN, it says connected but when I check my IP on https://ifconfig.co/ it still shows my normal public IP?! Do I have to change or update any network settings? Please help!

When I connect with the Cyberghost app through IKEv2 protocol, I can't access certain websites.

I have now installed Tunnelblick and it seems to work.

But does the Cyberghost app is looking for something on my patched Macbook what is somehow different and I can't properly connect via Wireguard? I mean the connection says connected and produces traffic. However, internet traffic isn't routed through it.
Hi everyone. I finally found the problem if someone is interested.
When using the Cyberghost VPN app and you connect via the Wireguard protocol, it doesn't automatically change under network settings -> TCP/IP -> IPv6 configuration to -> only link-local

When you change this to only link-local the public IP changes to the VPN when you check it e.g. on https://ifconfig.co/

I think this shows some of the limitations of using an unsupported OS. Hope this information helps maybe others.

Do this - Delete everything in the /Library/Updates ƒ, Open the Software Update C/P, then run CatalinaOTAswufix app by double-clicking on the folder icon READ THE BUILT-IN INSTRUCTIONS (the app runs best from inside the home ƒ e.g. Desktop or Downloads ƒ), The app will open to two(2) options - select the Software Update fix, OK - the D/L will start in the C/P - immediately apply the OTA update fix button, OK. The CatalinaOTAswufix app will confirm the success of each step. The update will complete and re-start to option boot into the DD1 Catalina Patcher. What Catalina build are you running, now and by what means Catalina installed?🧐
I'm on 10.15.7. Trying to get the post-10.15.7 Security Updates installed. Just deleted the /Library/Updates files. Followed the directions, but I still just see what's in the screenshot. I'm starting to feel really dumb here.

You might take a look at this thread, there are at least three OpenCore based solutions available to install Catalina, Big Sur and Monterey on your iMacPro5,1 without any patching and complex solutions to upgrade. If you have metal GPU you will enjoy even full app functionality.
Gotcha. But, I'm already on 10.15.7, wouldn't it just be easier to allow the beta updates or find some way to get the latest security updates installed?

Sorry, misunderstood the question. Used DD Catalina Patcher.

Did you apply the OTA update fix selection? It will report success if the update is going to succeed. It may be necessary to start over if there is a failure. Happens to everyone. Be patient. It will work.🎯

there
MBP4,1 (Early 2008) updated to latest Build 19H1511. Flawless performance so far.
good for you, aint this a breathe of fresh air?

Catalina works great on my MacBook Air 2010 on the original 128 GB Toshiba(?) SSD
I might get a 256GB OWC aura to see how fast or less spinning ball and more space.
if that works

Almost there. Delete everything in the /Library/Updates ƒ, one more time. Open the Software Update C/P, then run CatalinaOTAswufix app by double-clicking on the folder icon (the app runs best from inside the home ƒ e.g. Desktop or Downloads ƒ), The app will open to two(2) options - select the Software Update fix, the D/L will start in the C/P - immediately apply the OTA update fix button, it may ask for p/w, the D/L will complete and the progress bar will run to about 15% and reboot,...
🤚 Stop! I don't understand if I was wrong before, or at last try... with which I got 19H1511. So, before the last try, I interrupted the D/L after the OTA update fix button, to start over with security update 2021-006. Now after the OTA update fix button, I let the 2021-007 D/L go on. It downloaded 100% of the update, rebooted, and continued the installation through OpenCore booter.
I didn't want to install beta versions ... but based on your experiences, I figured that after all, if it happens, it shouldn't be too bad.
After the OTA update fix button, I got the same massage as the previous tries... this:
Schermata 2021-10-08 alle 07.54.30.png

In any case... after reinstalling DD1 patches forcing cache rebuild, Validation Patch Update, etc... the iMac runs flawless with 19H1511. 😀
Thanks again for your patience.
P.S.: at this point I don't understand what SilentKinight should be useful for...

First, CONGRATS🥳 Just brought this Mini3,1 up to 19H1511 and it too runs flawlessly. SilentKnight will now show that MRT is way out-of-date and two(2) tries will be necessary to update it. SK allows individual updates to be applied. Handy.😎

After running the Titanium Maintenance app - 🪓Build 19H1509 becomes very responsive is insect-free and is now a daily driver. No fear.
Good to hear. Will give this a go this weekend.
CatalinaOTAswufix.app, DD1 Catalina Patcher, Open Canopy booter strikes, again. Latest Security Beta runs as intended. Also, two other Apple updates, then MRT took two strokes to update, followed by Validation Patch Update, rebuild kext cache, restart into Build 19H1511. No issues, so far.

And yet another update, so will catch that as I update and post back with results. Thanks for the updates

Thanks. But take me away a curiosity: your indications were aimed to install 19H1419 or to install 19H1511? What should I have done differently to install 19H1419?
P.S. MRT update too. :)
Opt-out of the Beta Program in the Software Update CP, select small blue Details and follow the prompts. 19H1511 will be the release version, most likely.

Hi there..
I'm actually not a noob in regards to dosdudes unsupported mac installations.
I have already intalled both mojave and catalina on an iMac 8,1 using a usb stick and an internal ssd as target volume.

I have now tried to update my iMac 10,1 via the same usb sticks (have already tried two different ones, one 64gb that has worked before, one 128gb which is new)

Went through the same process creating the usb sticks (creation tried and completed on macbook 12" and later on 2018 macbook Pro to see if thats the problem) USB stick was erased as macos journaled before.

Went through the same clean install process on the mac: Plug in usb stick, used disk utility to format internal ssd as guid partition table and APFS (also tried mojave with macos journaled extended) and then installed mojave (and also tried the same later with the catalina stick, to see if it has to do with the version..)

Everything seems to work fine, after installation the mac reboots but then it seems to deviate from the tutorial:

doesn't reboot to the newly installed system os but it reboots exactly to the same usb stick menu giving me the options as before (install mojave, disk utility, post install) instead of the circle with the slash inside (forbidding sign)

Doesnt seem to be a problem, I thought, as I need to do post install anyways.. so I successfully run postinstall until it lets me reboot, but after the reboot, again, no system os but the same usb menu again..

trying to hold down the options key before booting but it will only show me the two usb stick never the ssd that i installed it on. Although when in the usb stick menu, it shows me the ssd (both in the disk utility and in the boot (restart) menu where it even says theres os 10.14 installed on it. But it wont boot.

So I thought it might the ssd that is the problem so I installed mac os mojave from the usb stick to the other usb stick (that I of course formatted correctly before) but also that won't boot...

Any ideas what to do?? Really desperate by now..

What happens when you boot without any USB stick?

Did you force a cache rebuild?

then folder with the question mark appears.

No as it says, after clean install you're not supposed to do that. But I'll try anyways

Edit: Won't work either.. weird thing: I told you tou exclude the SSD as the faulty part I created the mojave OS not only on the ssd but also on a usb stick afterwards. For fun I ran the iMac8,1 post-install on the usb-drive os and now it boots on my iMac 10,1. You might think now I got confused.. but I double checked, it is definitely the 10,1 iMac I have.. so hmm I used the same files to creat the usb drive as on my iMac8,1... isnt it the same patcher? I thought the only difference is that you should choose iMac10,1 in the postinstall but besides this everyhing is identical?!

This seems incorrect / a specific case with cyberghost ( which is btw a rather ### VPN in every regard)
Express VPN + Pure VPN both work flawlessly ( disabling IPv6 as well ) in IKEv2 Protocoll as well as OpenVpn

there
then folder with the question mark appears.
I had the same problem this Monday on a spare ssd dive with bigger, which was horrible and useless.
the problem was the ssd drive needed repairs
plu gin a bootable usb drive
restart
hold the option key
chose the image on the right
select language
then go to disk utilities (taskbar atop) to repair, verify the disk.
(don't install anything)
then in disk utilities chose first aid, repair then verify

I know this is very basic and I been doing this since 2001
and forgot to: use this reboot method earlier and that screwed things up

also make sure that the startup disk is set, which I overlooked in Bigsur, and even my latest install of catalina

Update went well . Using CatalinaOTAswufix.app and USBOpenCoreAPFSloader3.app and dosdude1 patcher and then ran SilentKnight for updates. Had to run twice. Seems everything is working fine so far.

MBP4,1 (Early 2008) Build 19H1511 running flawlessly.

I experienece a Safari-related issue, though, which was resolved in BigSur:
Safari 14 and Safari 15 prevent Safari Extensions to run: "Safari detected an app or service interfering with clicking."

The Apple solution to activate the extensions in Safe Mode does n o t work:

Does any fellow board member know, how to resolve this issue? Thanks in advance.

Nah. Brave. Orion.
Still, the Safari14/15 extensions under Catalina issue stays unresolved. Any suggestions, K two?
Rather go to the dentist than use Safari. I can crash Monterey by simply quitting. Been using FF since Netscape and NEVER ONCE a problem of any kind. Tried every single browser out there and always return to FF. The other great browser was Camino, killed in it's cradle. ;)
