*UPDATE* Resolved now as after updating the patcher, the wifi is working!

I'm wondering if anyone could help :) I have upgraded my 2011 15" MBP from High Sierra to Catalina and everything is working fine except that WiFi seems to be disabled? I can click the icon in the menu bar, but no networks appear, and this appears under system information. I've run the patcher's recommended patches for a MacBook Pro 8,2. Any help is appreciated! Did you try an SMC and PRAM reset?

Transferring my SSD from MBP 2011 8,2 to a MBP 9,1 (2012 non retina)

Hello All,
Having running into too many issues consistently with the iGPU, WiFi/BT, lost right sound speaker, and other minor but time-lost/band-aid issues on my MBP 2011, I have purchased a 2012 9,1 MBP. Intend to transfer my existing MBP 2011 1TB SSD and 16GB DDR 1600Mhz replacing the stock 500GB HDD and 4GB Memory (the 2012 MBP is quasi pristine and hardly used). It is running Sierra. Before transferring SSD to existing 2012 MBP I intend to use Silent Knight to make sure Boot Rom MRT, etc. are up to date or before hand updating to High Sierra before Silent Knight. Successively, I intend to install physically the 1 TB SSD and 16GB Mem, and upon reboot use DosDude 1.44 Patcher to install corresponding 9,1 patches. Is my process correct or are there other issues to be considered? Once stable I will consider later moving to BS or Monterey if it makes sense for the MBP 2012. I welcome all and any advice.

Hello *******, I am have been for sometime in the same boat concerning WiFI Catalina. Issues that have been spoken of in many online posts throughout the Internet. I have tried everything from replacing Airport card (WiFi/BT), checking wire connection to it, plist rebuilds, inactivating WiFi service and reactivating deleting Wifi creating a different location,MTU set, renew DHCP and then some without success if not for a momentary erratic and short-lived WifI connection that went from a few minutes to a few days (yes weird)... This in addition to the iGPU problem. I have finally given up and bought the last MBP, a 2012 non-retina with user ability to both upgrade drive and Memory where I can transfer my existing SSD and 16 GB Men to continue my work while eventually jumping in time to a newer 2022 MBP (see my post below). Of course this MBP may also find itself afoul of the Wifi issue but seems successfully solvable overall, much less of an issue and much much more prevalent of a problem with the MBP 2011 models. I know this doesn't help your current situation but you can alway use your ethernet connection that always works although forcing you to tether or reverting back to High Sierra that has hasn't seen the issue but perhaps with its limitations in fonction of what you need to do with your MBP. Other than that Catalina with Dosdude Patcher works seamlessly and very smoothly and a joy to use. Best of luck.

Never had a problem with BT/WIFI in my Macbook Pro 2011 17", replaced module. All works like a charm, also in Monterey. Even Unlock with Apple Watch.

Hey, I am trying to update my Mac Pro 3,1 19H2 Catalina build to the 2022-002 update using the CatalinaOTAswufix and Post Install tool, and everything seems to have run through all the processes fine and I am back up and running but the build number 19H2 is about Mac hasn't changed. Is this normal? Is there another way I can verify if the update was successful? I still see that the same update is available for the mac but not sure if that’s normal for this type of unsupported stuff. Thanks!

I am not using USBOpenCoreAPFSloader3. Just OTA and DosDude. I’ll read through the previous page and the link you posted. Would be great to get this beast updated one last time.

Could USBOpenCoreAPFSloader3 be added to a partition on my DosDude patcher usb or should it be on its own drive. How do I go about copying/formatting to usb drive?

Just run the app and choose where you want it. I have mine on separate USB

I am getting the following error:

mount_msdos: /dev/disk9s1: Resource busy
mount: /Volumes/EFIext failed with 71 (71)

If I hit OK, I eventually get a notification that says:

USBOpenCoreAPFSLoader3 - Do not remove the USB drive during this phase. USB preparing please wait a couple of minutes.

After leaving it for over an hour I received no further updates, am unclear if anything happened as the drive seems empty still.

I have a 2GB USB drive, freshly erased, APFS, GUID Partition Map, connected to the front of the machine, wondering if I should connect it to the back?

You might try that and make sure your usb is formatted extended journaled instead of APFS

Ok, the extended journaled was necessary. I am getting the same error at the end and a notification that says, Almost done, to complete the USB drive allow the script with your current user. Even though the drive mounts again successfully and appears to be 1.85GB down from 2GB. Did this work?

Try a USB >=4GB capacity, even though the app is very small and is going to be installed in the EFI part of your USB.

Anyone have any other ideas how I can troubleshoot the error:

mount_msdos: /dev/disk4s1: Operation not permitted
mount: /Volumes/EFIext failed with 71

I have tried two different machines, two different USB drives, one 2GB, one 30GB, GUID Partition Map, Mac Extended Journaled... not sure what to do here. Is there a way to manually install the necessary files via terminal?

sudo diskutil mount disk4s1

does not work in safe mode ....
