Not sure if this is common knowledge, but it is new to me. This is a way to find the link for InstallAssistant.pkg for Big Sur beta 5.

How to find InstallAssistant.pkg

Using info in the command given in post #3,695 , navigate your Finder (Catalina 10.15.6) to the Resources folder in Catalina. Note: you are not running the command, just using the path info.

Code:
sudo /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Seeding.framework/Versions/A/Resources/seedutil enroll DeveloperSeed

There you’ll see the file “SeedCatalogs.plist”. Open this with TextEdit. Copy/paste the url in the DeveloperSeed section into Safari

<string>https://swscan.apple.com/content/ca...ion-snowleopard-leopard.merged-1.sucatalog.gz</string>

This page is large. Use cmd-F to search for “InstallAssistant.pkg. The second result is:

<string>http://swcdn.apple.com/content/down...767kq54klqanh09mrcted2kw/InstallAssistant.pkg</string>

which matches the link given in post #3,337 for BSur b5!
i found this link

how to check the version?

What happens when 11.0 is released? How would you update to 11.1 later on? Does Software Update not work?
woah.... Woah.... WOAH!!!.... Slow down, there Speedy Gonzales.... How about we let the guys fix all the Beta stuff first, while we have access to that.... They are trying to get things happening in the here and now... not a future 11.1 update to 11.0 which hasn't even happened yet

I have a 27-inch iMac 2011 with an upgraded graphics card (NVIDIA) that I want to install macOS Big Sur on but I don’t know where to download the patcher for it. I am all new to this patcher but I am familiar of what this does. I also don’t know the steps to how to do it so can someone please help me?

I am on macOS High Sierra and I heard there was a patcher for Catalina so I thought maybe there was one for Big Sur. I upgraded the graphics card as well because it did not perform.

There are different search engines for the internet you probably know. For example „GOOGLE“. it is an internet giant. If you do a search query there for: big sur patcher then you‘ll get an fully qualified answer. Also there exists a functioning search for this forum on the upper right side.
I do not know how far the discussion is, whether the people of this forum will accept you sending your machine to them patchting it and sending it back to you.

In these trying times at the moment I think most of us need help now and again and being sarcastic to some one who asks is not the way it's done, this forum is well known for the help it gives guys who have older Macs unlike Apple who seem to frown on them as they want you to buy the latest machine they produce at the most ridiculous prices, sometimes I despair at their incessant urge to make trillions of dollars and kick the older user into touch.

Sorry, but in the current state I believe that people unable to use the search button on the top of this page will not be able to use the current patchers. One should simply ignore such requests.

This is not an emergency room. No one asking here is in the real need to get help. But everybody willing to install Big Sur should bring - right now - in some technical abilities, which I cannot detect here in every case.

Of course you are free to offer a "spoon feed service" to help those people through this thread. Older Macs run fine with the latest version of Catalina. Where is exactly your "trillion dollar" argument gone?

Not agree at all. Least anyone can do is invest some seconds of his life in search before asking.

Please don't be mean/sarcastic to the newbies. This is supposed to be a helpful channel, and even if they ask you a question they can answer themselves by going to the first post, it would be much better suited to tell them to go to the first post than to answer their question in such a sarcastic way.
