What happened to the good ole days where you could just download DiskMaker X and be done with a perfect install and none of the hassle?I used Ben Sovas Patcher.

@jackluke I still have your opencore usb inserted however, the bootscreen comes on with few script running in blink of an eye disappears and then the apple logo and progress bar leads to the login screen. This is how it has been running. I also found out that 1tb samsung internal ssd drive that I wanted to use for Bigsur keeps ejecting. So when I pressed option key i just cant see that drive.Does your Metal GPU worked with a bootscreen without opencore ?
Have you tried a PRAM reset ?
Same here. It's been working flawlessly since yesterday (with the exception of VMware Fusion).I used Ben Sovas Patcher.
Hi can you offer some insight , every time I run that patcher it errors out with no explanation of why it fails ?Same here. It's been working flawlessly since yesterday (with the exception of VMware Fusion).
Upgraded Catalina installed on an external SSD fwiw.
Use diskutility to format your drive in guid partition and then try.Hi can you offer some insight , every time I run that patcher it errors out with no explanation of why it fails ?
Bens patcher was pretty easy..What happened to the good ole days where you could just download DiskMaker X and be done with a perfect install and none of the hassle?
From instruction it says to download just run the .dmg pathcer , it says after that prepare a usb drive , I thought I could just download the installer via the patch then create a usb drive to install with , when you say format the drive , you mean the usb drive intended to do the install ? I not sure which drive , it did not ask where to download the file , it just says it is downloading but does not show any progress bar to indicate it is downloadingUse diskutility to format your drive in guid partition and then try.
Yes, run from the DMG, it downloads to a hidden folder in your user folder. It will then make a USB drive you can boot from. From instruction it says to download just run the .dmg pathcer , it says after that prepare a usb drive , I thought I could just download the installer via the patch then create a usb drive to install with , when you say format the drive , you mean the usb drive intended to do the install ? It's tough to know what steps you are doing/not doing, but check this video out as I think it's one of the better step by step guides I have seen so far.I am having trouble downloading via the patch , patch opens but then it gives error , have not seen a pics of what it should look like , don't know where to look for problem , can you help ?
Thanks I will check that out , but the only steps I have taken is right click the .dmg and follow what it says , then it shows this that it is downloading , then the error messageIt's tough to know what steps you are doing/not doing, but check this video out as I think it's one of the better step by step guides I have seen so far.

Ok I ran the alternative kexts patching line from the terminal within Big Sur and it ran ok and then rebooted so I now have wifiHi, thanks for all the work on this
I wonder if somebody could help me with a couple of problems please?
I have a mid 2012 rMBP and am attempting to dual boot Catalina and Big Sur.
I partitioned the drive and followed Justperry's guide.
Everything went perfectly and Big Sur is installed and bootable (though it took about 3 minutes to actually log in).
After a short time the fans start going quite quickly and it seems to ramp up alarmingly.
Any suggestions please?
I'm also without wifi as I'm a bit stuck with the last terminal instruction
Input "/Volume/Image\ Volumes/patch-kexts.sh /Volumes/***" and hit enter, when finished enter "reboot", both without the quotes.
*** Is your disk label
I'm unsure what to put in as the disk label (the partition name or the /dev/diskxxx bit and neither seem to work.
It keeps saying no such file or directory.
All instructions other than that worked perfectly and I'm a bit at a loss.
Could someone point me in the right direction please?
Many thanks!

Fans may have settled down now too and login is quicker too
I think I'm sorted (for the moment).
Thanks for the how to 👍
Homefolder@my-iMac ~ % /Volumes/Install\ macOS\ Big\ Sur/remount-sysvol.sh
Password:/
Volume appears to have a Big Sur installation (build 20B29). Continuing.
Volume is mounted from device: /dev/disk1s6s1
Mounted device is a snapshot. Will now mount underlying volume
from device /dev/disk1s6 at temporary mountpoint:
/System/Volumes/Update/mnt1
mount_apfs: volume could not be mounted: Resource busy
mount: /System/Volumes/Update/mnt1 failed with 75
Mounting underlying volume failed. Cannot proceed.
That's a bit above my pay grade. I'm very rusty in the terminalI seem to be having the exact (?) problem, and the same step.
First format your usb drive using disk utility and then use patcher to make your installer. From instruction it says to download just run the .dmg pathcer , it says after that prepare a usb drive , I thought I could just download the installer via the patch then create a usb drive to install with , when you say format the drive , you mean the usb drive intended to do the install ? Disk label is your volume that you installed big sur in. Also use /Volume/Image\ Volumes/patch-kexts.sh /Volumes/ <<here you enter your disk name that you installed bigsur in and then press enterHi, thanks for all the work on this

When the fans go to higher rpms this belongs to to mds worker and mds stores renewing spotlight indexing. Maybe some minutes later it will normalize. You can control in system preferences / spotlight what you want to be indexed. The less you want the shorter indexing will go on. If the process does not stop make a restart and do not index anything by spotlight. When the machine is working normally again you can add spotlight searches again. I had the same problem on one of my two mid 2012 mbp‘s. For your other problem you should read @Barry K. Nathan ‘s readme file and follow exactly. Remember that the patching procedure commands are case sensitive.Disk label is your volume that you installed big sur in.
