Just installed Big Sur 11.3 Beta 4 using the Barry's micropather 0.5.1. Everything works perfect! If you need the link for the installer (since the one in post 9292 doesn't work), i am sharing bellow (copy and paste on a browser):

Have a great one! ;)
Thanks for letting us know the micropatcher 0.5.1 works. Whatever problem we had with it on Big Sur 11.3 beta 2 seems to have been only with that installassistant.pkg.

The two links for 11.3 beta 4 appear to be the same -- wonder what the problem you had was???

Hello

I download and use GUI Micropatcherautomator.
My USB key is formatted Mac OS Extended (journaled) but patcher failed:

What can I do ?

Tried again few times and still does nothing! It tries opening the page that starts the auto download, but it does nothing! Weird! When I've copied the link and pasted on the word sheet, all the slashes ("/") were replaced by "%2F"... So I just cleaned it up and paste it to my browser in order to work... Anyway, it's done.
The only thing I want to mention is that I thought this forum is a friendly envinronment, where users help and support each other, not calling names and pass judgement. I think that I, as little as I contributed, i did helped and shared my experience with all of you about Big Sur and I really don't appreciate that kind of reply to a request. And that's that. Thanks and have a good one! ;)

Check if the partitioning scheme of your disk is set to GUID.

Very grateful that khronokernel and the dortania team have been active and doing great work to make OCLP better and better.

Noticed there have been a number of releases in quick succession with much enhancements.

Also great to have a guide up now.

Just holding back and waiting for a "stable" release to apply on top of v0.0.13.

The v0.0.18 looks like a good candidate - just waiting a few days.

Thanks so much for posting the link to the guide. I finally bit the bullet and updated my 2012 macbook pro 9,2 to latest big sur using oclp.

This linker errors been fixed only in this fork of the micropatcher....

Your graphics devices are not supported by Big Sur, neither the HD3000 and nor the Radeon 6600M, which has and had no support since High Sierra, i.e. no graphics acceleration at all.

Edit:
Ported it back into the main fork 0.5.4. Corrected link. It is included with MacBookPro6,x and MacBookPro8,x, other users having systems with this linker error need to use the --R3000 command line flag with the patch-kext.sh script.
Thank you for your comments….
Use another USB with micropatcher V.0.5.4, and install BigSur 11.2.3 again, and the post parcher continues to give an error, but now it mentions another driver that I DO NOT use, (NVDAResmanTesla), also I put the parameter --R3000 in patch- kexts.sh but it does not recognize it, so I put -2011, but the error continues and the post-patcher does NOT finish, so the problem continues with the graphics, sound, Mac sleep, and very slow, among others.
Is there a way to force the post-parcher to finish well?
Please help!!!
Thank you very much and have compassion on me ……

MBP9,2 WiFi not working

I need some help with Big Sur on my MBP9,2 (13" 2012). I installed OC 0.6.7 and upgraded from Catalina to Big Sur, and so far everything works fine except for the WiFi. I tried spoofing the PCI ID to a BCM4360 through OC but that didn't work. I then added IO80211Catalina.kext to OC and the config.plist but that didn't work either.

In any case the WiFi icon in the taskbar shows that WiFi is off (if I load the kext I can see the searching for WiFi network animation for a few second), I can turn in on through the toggle but that does nothing. And in the network settings I see WiFi listed but it's off and if I click on the 'WiFi On' then it changes to 'WiFi Off' but quickly reverts to 'WiFi On' again.

Needless to say, WiFi works perfectly fine under native Catalina (which I have on an external SSD).

I attached both of my config.plists, one I added the PCI spoof and the other which loads IO80211Catalina.kext, could someone have a look and maybe let me know where I'm going wrong here? I would prefer the spoofing method if this can be made to work as it's said to be much more reliable, but the main thing is to get WiFi working.

Thanks!

Servus Sepp!

You either should use OCLP to get most things working again (and if this is not enough because the BCM94331 is currently not supported there) you might have to go back to the real patching using the micropatcher and do classical patching. At least I believe it is better and more effective to maintain a single source of EFI folders for this task than fixing and editing each users own approach.

The micropatcher relies on the real board-id of your system and spoofing another one would make it think you have an already supported system and will refuse to patch. You need the —force —whitelist flags with patch-kext.sh to do the trick with the (iMac) micropatcher (0.5.4). Although it is called iMac version it is just an enhancement to the original since there the develoment stopped last November.

Links are on the first post of this thread....

And I have several issues with your request.
  • We have at least one other known user successful with v0.5.1 on your type of Mac after doing a fresh complete installation. You quoted his post yourself on GitHub.
  • The (iMac) micropatcher has been updated to include the Radeon3000X extension, if you claim the patcher does not recognise the --R3000 I claim you do not know which version you have loaded from the web.
  • Please stop posting your problems in parallel on GitHub and here.

MBP9,2 WiFi not working

OCLP guide on supported models list 2012 MBP9,2 as everything is supported.
AFAIK, basically use OCLP and do a reinstall Big Sur on top of current Big Sur should do it.

Hello @Weisswurstsepp
I have the same machine as you and I also lost wifi.

Initially used BarryKNs micropatcher to install BigSur 11.0.1. In the Winter I wanted to try OCLP so I reinstalled 11.1 OVER my old installation and created the OCLP USB-key to boot, which worked fine.

Sometime last week after an UTA update (maybe 11.2.2-11.2.3?) wifi stopped working. So I reinstalled using the BS Recovery Partition via the OpenCore Picker (spacebar). But this did not help with wifi.
Booting OCLP-BigSur Recovery indicated a functioning WIFI icon and I could select "Reinstall macOS Big Sur" but after the successful install and boot wifi did not work.

Today I initialised the SSD and did a fresh install (via OCLP and macOS USBkey)

Now WIFI works again.

So maybe something of the micropatcher had survived... idk

Thanks to both of you for your reply!

So I tried OCLP, which seems to be a very neat piece of software. Installation was easy, too.

Unfortunately WiFi remained dead as it did with my general OC 0.6.7 attempt before. Something WiFi is there but it doesn't work in either Catalina or Big Sur. The System Profiler also shows no Airport device (see attached screenshots, one from unmodified Catalina and the other one with OCLP).

So for now it seems I"ll have to go back to standard Catalina.

Interesting. The only Big Sur version I updated to was 11.2.3, however with either OC and OCLP WiFi also failed on Catalina, too, so at least in my case it's unlikely to be that.

I also never patched the OS itself (mostly because I want to be able to update normally so fiddling with Mac OS internals is a no-go for me).

Strange.

In the OCLP guide it says "Requires an SSE4.1 CPU Upgrade" for the MacPro 3,1 to support this method. What exactly is the CPU model that supports SSE4.1 and is compatible with the MacPro 3,1 CPU slots?
I have searched hi and lo and cannot find anything about these magical CPUs!

There is a much older MacPro3,1 thread - they are constantly chatting about this.

MacPro 3.1 CPU's have SSE4.1 instructions support out of the box (E5462 (2.8 QuadCore) etc).

So this information at OCLP is incorrect!
Maybe the dev should be informed. However, I could not get the OCLP method to boot—it gets to the efi screen with the bootloader icon (without verbose screens although verbose set in the OCLP setup) and then mouse (can see cursor) and keyboard are dead from that point.
