Is there a way to reinstall the Post Install Volume Patch of OC 0.2.2, the installation of mine went wrong and it says Patches are already installed, but I’m sure that no patches are installed on the system. How i can download again the files and reinstall the patch?

You have to do the installation procedure again on the drive you want. You build the open core, and go through the same process again and reboot.

Now on Safari v.14.1.2 looks very good on cursory check. The primary browser is Firefox v.78.12 which has performed flawlessly with any macOS version installed.
I have disabled the transparency in the accessibility settings, now Big Sur is more snappy and i solve the transparency issue, doesn’t look good as the stock Big Sur version but at least i solve the glitch.

I never had transparency enabled, neither in my supported macs. I don't like it at all.

Just updated my mid 2011 iMac 12.2 from High Sierra to Bug Sur 11.4 with OpenCore using the OpenCore Legacy Patcher with OLCP v0.2.2

My first time using OpenCore. All went quite smoothly nothing difficult at all.

A big thank you to you all those who contribute to this thread and others :):):). that my 10 year old iMac is today running the lastest version of macOS Big Sur.

All seems to be working except for one thing.

The iMac will now not recognize a USB connected UPS, there’s no button / sub menu in System Preferences > Energy Saver. I have tried 3 different UPS and different USB cables none work. UPS connected by USB worked fine with hIgh Sierra.

Any ideas on solving this appreciated.

Thats because BigSur has Compatibility issue with your UPS. Try to visit UPS site and see if they have any firmware updates for BigSur

I would just like to say, I LITERALLY, for the first time in a month, was able to load ANY OS onto my 2012 A1278 MBP, even after speaking to an Apple Senior Advisor and "Genius", (whom neglected to tell me resetting the PRAM and NVRAM could've been responsible for my Recovery Mode boot loop issue, but evidently holding down Control + Alt + P + R + Hold Power Button Down until your computer restarts 3 times. Anyways, after all these issues, should I leave it on Catalina, or If I'm going to go to Big Sur and/or Monterey, should I disable any setting like the AMFI? I don't want to run into anymore issues where I accidentally mess up an essential boot setting that renders my computer inoperable.

I've been using Big Sur on my MacBook 5,1 (late 2008) since May with the OpenCore Legacy Patcher (0.2.2 as of now). Never had any problems other than the known issues like the keyboard backlight (using labtick) no nightshift (f.lux) and the transparency issues.

I didn't feel like messing around with my Apple-ID... I hadn't seen yet, that there was an issue there. That would mean, I'll stick with Catalina for the time being.
What I saw (known issues): Keyboard backlight control keys don't work (->LabTick works), Zoom doesn't have access to camera and microphone (->tccplus; btw: Do updates overwrite, what I set there?).

HD3000 VDA decoder back on Big Sur:

After installing the latest High Sierra version of the AppleGVA.framework and the latest Catalina version of the AppleGVACore.framework, a reboot and this command line

Code:
defaults write com.apple.coremedia hardwareVideoDecoder -string force

I got finally this working on Big Sur:

Thanks to EduCovas (his recipe using AppleGVACore, too), @jackluke for his incredible help and patience and finally @webg3 who reminded me using the force command....

If your want to check this yourself on an iMac with either TS2 patches through OCLP or with an NVIDIA metal dGPU follow this recipe to modify the root system volume. Of course you need to apply the chmod/chown commands to the both frameworks placed in /S*/L*/P*F* :)

On some my earlier non Metal and Metal testing, just removing com.apple.coremedia automatically sets VDADecoder enable (assuming that there is AppleGVA* binary in folder), but maybe for enabling VDA on TS2 AMD GPU you need the force command that seems mainly required for the AMD GPUs either non Metal and Metal.

Could you try AirPlay display mirroring ?

Anyway great work in mixing HighSierra AppleGVA (for IntelHD3000) with Catalina GVACore (for BigSur and TS2 AMD).

AirPlay:

This particular iMac finds now after these patches my 4K AppleTV, it exchanges the four digit pass code but the TV remains black. I guess this is more an issue with this particular AirPlay device.

Hey @Ausdauersportler, does it mean it would be possible to enable h264 HW encoding/decoding on a Mac Pro with AMD R9 280x (or a Radeon 7950/7970 for that matter)? Or does it enable the iGPU to do its work, so not applicable to a Mac Pro with Xeons?

Hi!

This was only a method to use the SandyBridge CPU included HD2500/HD3000 iGPU to enable QuickSync (which is an Intel technology).

Unfortunately the use of AMD dGPU acceleration depends on the Apple VideoToolBox, your dGPU has to be supported and there is no way I know of to enable unsupported GPUs. You need to buy a Polaris based dGPU or newer.

On two Beta 5 OTA updates from Beta 4 the Messgaes app starts to run and then quits after a few seconds, no AppleID needed to see if it runs. Thanks. 😃

Is there any method to change the Big Sur Menu Bar to be more useful? A Catalina black bar or by manipulating the transparency of only the Menu Bar, itself? Tried every possible Accessility/Display option, changed Desktop Pictures, nada. 😏
Big Sur way too transparent menu bar.jpg
