MBP5,2: same procedure used, 11.6.3 running well (apparently not a beta, but no full installer available so far).

PS - the Post Install Volume Patch done with OCLP 0.3.4n from source of today, just as a test, which worked well.
Just checked the Paradise on Discord - Updates states 11.6.3 on 20 dec is a Public Beta Build 20G405. Also, noticed features disabled in Acorn, Seashore, GIMP also Photoshop with this Beta.

Confirming Touche worked to bring back the keyboard backlight function on a MacBook5,1 A1278 Late 2008 Aluminum 2.4ghz. Everything seems to be working properly after applying Post Install patches and activating BlurBeta.

🚧 Re-installed the NVIDIA graphics set OTA (OCLP_033r Step #3) originally installed on 14 Dec. - now 10 days later, Step #3 includes Mbs/sec speedometer, the patch fixes the anomalies found in Acorn, Seashore, GIMP and PS, also no need for the Blur_Beta script. 🪓macOS 11.63b1 is better than expected. 🎉

Can I ask an OCLP question here that’s related to both Big Sur and Monterrey?

i run a cMP 5,1 from 2012 with OCLP 3.0.0. Now I am planning to upgrade my processors to 3.46 speeds and my Wifi/bluetooth card; my question is if I need to reinstall OCLP afterwards?

Thanks!

Yes,
just because of the upgraded BT/WiFi you should rerun the same OCLP version and install a newly generated config.

Whenever there's an OCLP update or a hardware change, run OCLP to generate a new EFI and use a compare utility to learn what the changes are between the new EFI and the one that exists in the EFI partition.

Hello!
Am doing the installation of Big Sur on MacBook Pro Mid 2012 (CD-ROM, thicker model). I booted into the USB, started the installation in Recovery, and when rebooting to macOS Installer (with HD icon this time) I see an Apple logo, which is replaced in a second with a prohibitory icon.

What shall I do here?

No, the 14,2 needs a tool or trick to allow installation of Big Sur since it is not supported by Apple. Technically you could install and run an unmodified installation using the -no_compat_check added to the boot-args on your particular system.

If this does not sound familiar to you ignore my comment and use the OCLP tool to install and maintain Big Sur on your iMac.
you could make a description of the method ...-no_compat_check

Oh, this has been done countless times in the past because it is so obvious. Please search the net for it, there will be a lot complete descriptions.

Technically I did it in the post you quoted, but I do not want to elaborate on it since it does only work in rare cases with recent 2014 hardware and you cannot update the installation on the old Mac other than using OpenCore - which closes the circle back to use OCLP in the first place.

There is no point to advertise here an outdated and limited technology.

Nevertheless: Adding the same flag to the boot-args will help booting old macOS versions with the current state of the art OCLP patcher.

Hello,
Since I upgraded to version 15.2 of Safari, it does not open and the menu at the top of the screen is greyed out. By clicking on the menu bar, it is activated again but safari remains in the same state. Does anyone have this problem?

Have nearly the same setup (iMac11,3+RX480+BCM943602CD+Big Sur 11.6.2+Safari 15.2+OCLP 0.3.1)
but
I do not have your problem. Everything runs perfectly! Must be a local issue with your current installation.

So, has anyone had any luck getting Big Sur running on M1 Pro or Max computers? Technically they're also 'unsupported macs' for Big Sur, and I'd love to get it going on one.

Hi,

I’m using OCLP latest version (0.3.3) on a MacBookPro10,1 (mbpr 15) to run BigSur latest version.

I’m facing an issue with Plex Player crashing at every launch making it unusable.

I suspected it could be related to the GPU and when disabling the macOS settings in the battery section to disable GPU switching and force the use of the discrete nvidia gpu instead of the hd4000 gpu, plex starts normally.

I found a thread on plex forums about this issue and the fact it could be related to the hd4000 driver version : https://forums.plex.tv/t/plex-app-for-mac-crashes-when-opening-macos-catalina/754562/40

Is there something (a setting in oclp) that can be used to make plex player work again ?

Gonna bite the bullet and try Big Sur on the mac mini on a spinning drive.
there was a video online that seemed easy, just the patcher was confusing, but i can figure that out.
who knows, maybe this will run auto like on my spare MacBook air in September?
UPDATE
i cannot find a copy of big sur to download, so I'm gonna try the Montereys
hopefully i can get these fine people depicted below to be my friends!

thanks for your advice,
first thing i did . those links don't work due to being very stale.
last night i read the first 48 pages, very shakespearean!
Catalina is boring and big sur seems more bland.

i did manage to get a Monterey downloaded through the MacBook air,
but the download went kaput when i plunged in a ethernet usb chord.
now i have 7GB of wasted space somewhere in the drive.
oh well!

Sorry, but all 11.6 versions are still available directly from Apple for download as listed on the first post. You may tried the wrong links...

Here you find the same list, the older versions are still available from a different site. Apple has dropped the download of older versions.

All Monterey download links can be found on the Monterey thread, first post there, too.

Just downloaded Monterrey on the mini, i might get that Big Sur as well.
thanks for your efforts!
