After beta 3 installation, have you followed these required steps (especially csrutil disable):

edit:
This need an update for Big Sur Beta 3, so don't use it yet.

Thank you very much @jackluke I will be watching for your update. :):):):):):):):)

Does that tool still work on beta 2 and 3? I thought it only worked on the 1st beta.
v0.0.9 added support for beta 2, less than a day before beta 2 came out. (I compared beta 1 and beta 2 of Catalina, to make an educated guess about some of the changes Apple might make in beta 2 of Big Sur, and my guess turned out to be correct.)

I would expect v0.0.9 and later (the current version is v0.0.14) to work with beta 3, however I have not tested it myself yet. If you've tried it and you're having trouble, you may want to wait for the next patcher release (v0.0.15), probably sometime later today, before you spend more time and effort trying to troubleshoot. I found a bug in patch-kexts.sh (the script that runs in step 9 of the instructions) which doesn't affect anything most of the time, but which makes it incredibly difficult to notice if kmutil failed with an error. After I fix that, any problems with the script will be much easier to troubleshoot.

Edit: I forgot to mention, the bug has been around since v0.0.6, which was also the first version of the patcher that could do anything to fix WiFi, so for all practical intents and purposes it affects all versions of the patcher.

Edit 2: Apple added a ton of stuff to the Big Sur beta release notes. In particular, it sounds like it might now be safe to install Big Sur in the same APFS container as Catalina 10.15.6 (but not any earlier version) -- but look at the exact wording below in case I'm wrong -- and Apple finally documented the changes they've made to Time Machine.

Can anyone test a 2012 Macbook Pro with switchable graphics if it still uses the dGPU all the time?
Switching grafics is not an issue here on a 2012 MBP 9,1 non-retina. Even good old gfxCardStatus works just fine.

I've used Barry's micropatcher again. Following the updated v0.0.14 guide to the letter works like a charm, getting WiFi & AirDrop back in post install step 9 is working as well. Will use the same patched USB Install stick to update my cMP 4,1/5,1 later today.

Noticed new icons for Battery status (much better now imho) and Music, now in red.

I still have a beta 3 snapshot booting (<key>DoNotSeal</key><true/> in UpdateOptions.plist worked only for an unsealed system volume from other macOS with APFS support but not for "sudo mount -uw /" since it's a snapshot)

so for now can't build yet a valid prelinkedkernel, meanwhile to fix Wifi try this directly from BigSur (ignore the AppleHDA and telemetry part for Ivy Bridge Mac):

I'm a little disoriented. After launching macOS installer, it has not asked me where to install Beta 3 and on black screen (29 minutes left...) it never rebooted (less than 1 minute remaining ...for 3 hours). So i will restore Catalina SSD and his container broken by dd cloning trials and then reinstall BS beta 3 from scratch on 100 GB SSD partition. But then I will wait and hope for the acceleration fix or at least for a standard graphical fully automated patcher. Catalina works perfecty on Macmini4,1 and without accekeration BigSur is unusable. Luckily at my winter home I have a iMac late 2013 really patchable, so on october I will use BigSur on it, waiting to buy a 2021 Mac Mini ARM ?

I fixed the prelinkedkernel for Ivy Bridge Mac to work with Big Sur beta 3 to enable AirDrop and Wifi without using BigSur Recovery and keeping a sealed system with snapshot booting.

Moreover this should enable also the AGC dual GPUs switching for IntelHD4000 and Nvidia Kepler GPUs.

Here is attached.

Hello, few notes about BigSur beta 3 now the BaseSystem.dmg is 884 MB (beta 2 was 740 MB), also from single user mode they introduced two new commands to easily mount the Data and Preboot Volume (both Volumes writable from single user mode even with a sealed system snapshot booting):

mount -P 1
mount -P 2
mount -vat nonfs

thanks to the @ASentientBot "apfs_systemsnapshot method", I have disabled on BigSur beta 3 snapshot booting directly from BigSur (without its Recovery), here are the steps, the two requirements are from a macOS Recovery or terminal recovery:

nvram boot-args="-no_compat_check"
csrutil disable

then from BigSur normal booting, open terminal and follow these steps:
Code:
sudo mkdir ~/Snapshot/

(this makes an empty folder mount point on your home folder so copy exactly as written)

mount

(on the first output line you can notice a diskXsYsZ you have to consider only diskXsY)

sudo mount -o nobrowse -t apfs /dev/diskXsY ~/Snapshot/

tmutil listlocalsnapshots ~/Snapshot/

(this show eventually the snapshots in form of "com.apple-UUID" rather than date time)

sudo mount -uw ~/Snapshot

(this makes writable the mount point)

cd /S*/L*/File*/apfs*/C*/R*/

sudo ./apfs_systemsnapshot -v ~/Snapshot -r ""

(credit to ASentientBot for the apfs_systemsnapshot that tags an empty string to disable snapshot)

if for some reason using this posix path ~/Snapshot won't allow to tag the snapshot, then use instead /Users/yourusername/Snapshot

if after those commands you get this message:
Attempting tagging of snapshot on volume: /Users/yourusername/Snapshot

then after reboot you can use "sudo mount -uw /" .

This has totally fixed the WiFi and AirDrop issue. For me it is still the best solution, the simplest and most effective. Thank you very much again for your magic spells. ????????

no luck reinstalling Big Sur using the BarryKn method I followed the steps but with the set.vars.sh in the terminal immediately got error preparing the installation ignored it then it started the first phase installation got down to 12 mins remaining then error and didn't proceed any further so I tried the method I used for Beta 2 csrutil disable and nvram boot-args="-no_compat_check" but get the dll.domain error

Dev 3 has been out for almost a day, what I didn't see here is that there are two installers, one bigger than 12 GB and a smaller 4.6 GB installer, has anyone tried yet with the smaller Updater?

I tried also the BigSur 4,96 GB installer (in my case that size from Beta 2) and it worked for an in place upgrade, but during the installation "29 minutes remaining" I encountered the big apple logo with big loading bar (that is the EFI SMC firmware update), I was almost to force a power off but instead I took the risk to let fill the big loading bar (about 3 minutes) then after reboot I quickly booted to an external Mojave and noticed that firmware machine was still stock.

I continued through usbopencore the stage2 or stage3 installer "macOS Installer".

But I advise for now to use only the BigSur full installer with ASentientBot Hax.dylib method.

For Penryn Core2Duo and non-APFS or legacy USB Mac my prelinkedkernel fix 1 2 3 4 doesn't work more on Beta 3 so don't use them

I am updating a new prelinkedkernel for those machines will publish later here editing this post.
Thank you jackluke.
I'm installing beta 3 now via Hax3.app and need to swap disks to complete this. Afterwards, when swapped back, I'll do all other steps.

Where can I find the Delta Update, I still want to try.

Tidbit, both the Delta and Full Installer installs in place if you don't partition/wipe the disk.

Neither of them worked for me on a supported system. I downloaded the full installer and created a USB installer. That worked. This is a known issue in the release notes on system that have disabled T2 restrictions.

After install you can use usbopencoreapfsloader3b to boot (that only changes kext in RAM), but keeping the stock beta 3 prelinkedkernel, I'll upload in few minutes the new prelinkedkernel for those legacy USB Penryn Mac.

There is AppleBSDKextStarter.kext that for BigSur on Penryn Core2Duo during kernel cache is omitted due to x86_64 incompatible architecture.

Here is attached the new BigSur beta 3 prelinkedkernel fix for any Penryn Core2Duo included the non-APFS and legacy USB Mac, also Ethernet and Wifi should work.

You might also need this to preset a reduced transparency (to skip the non-metal loginUI Finder crash):
BigSur reducetransparency fix.command.zip

While if you want to disable the prelinkedkernel (if doesn't work) and return to the stock BigSur BootKernelExtensions just use this: BigSur generic BKE.command.zip

Very good already so far on MBP5,2. Didn't apply the new prelinkedkernel fix yet.
- 11.0 beta3 boots well via OpenCore (prepared with USBOpenCoreAPFSloader3b.app)
- Ethernet (cable) works, writing this from beta3
- all my settings, user data etc survived installing beta3 over beta2, as far as tested so far
- no need to reduce transparency - was still in place
- cursor movement appears rather smooth.

Next I'll apply the new prelinkedkernel fix, then check wifi and internal audio, and report back.

This update was VERY easy. Thanks!
Steps:
- running the following from 10.15.6. csr and boot-args already set
- downloaded 11.0 beta3 full installer from link given in post #2215/2216, to /Applications
- installed via Hax3.app to BS beta2 disk (has to be on SATA for legacy USB machine during installation)
Thats it - boots via OpenCore. Next do new prelinkedkernel fix.

Hi all
cMP5.1 updated Big Sur from Beta 2 to Beta 3 successfully, everything works without any fix, even the Wifi (BCM94360CD card)

Thanks @ASentientBot for Hax.dylib

Since the first day after installed Beta 1 I'm pleasantly surprised by the speed and fluidity of these Beta's even though they are installed on a classic SSD... Catalina seems slower despite its installation on NVMe 970 EVO, although the latest version 15.6 seems a bit faster than the other versions...
