I have an iMac 13.2 (late 2012 21.5) In June I used OCLP 0.1.6 and upgraded to Big Sur. I am now on BS 11.6.1 but I want to upgrade to Monterey. However, when I check for updates it doesn't appear. Do I need to upgrade the OCLP or is there another way?
Update to the latest OCLP 0.3.2 Nightly Built. If still not seeing OTA update, following the link in #2,307 .

Yes, This is the right place, and No, it does not disable all the SIP settings (need to run #1 & #2 and a reboot of the newly built EFI to take effect). You will need to go into EFI config.plist and change the csr-active-config (under NVRAM/Add/7C436110-AB2A-4BBB-A880-FE41995C9F82) to FF0F0000 to disable all SIP settings.
But I just don't understand your reason for changing SIP settings. The default OCLP SIP works.
Thank you so much, sir. Really appreciated. Modified the .config and is disabled now.

Well that would depend on which MBP we're talking about. For a rMBP 10,1 mid-2012, OCLP option 3 is what you want. I'm typing on one as we speak. Apple dropped support for the internal HD4000 gpu with Monterey. It worked on Big Sur, but not on Monterey. To make it work on Monterey SIP must be off. OCLP option 3 achieves that. After multiple installs and restarts during the beta phase I can confirm it does work.

It would be nice, by the way, if folks could specify which m/c they were asking about. It's important.

No, patching needs SIP disabled all the time!
Thanks for the answers!

What are the apparent drawbacks having SIP disabled? Does Apple's DRM still work then, e.g. for playing bought Music, running iOS Apps, dev work with Xcode etc?

And are OTA updates possible with SIP disabled?

Thanks again for your time :)

Hi all,
I successfully installed 12.0.1 on MacBook Pro 11,1 - Retina (Late 2013), Intel i5 with iris Graphics and 8GB RAM.

The steps on OpenCore were extremely clear. Thank you for such a wonderful tool.
Live text, airplay, etc work perfectly fine.
However I just got the following error:
Hash mismatch detected on volume disk1s5. MacOS might need to be reinstalled on this volume.

is there a fix for this?
If there isn't, would downgrading to Big Sur result in dataloss? (would want to avoid downgrading because Monterey seems surprisingly faster than Big Sur)

That's not a sudden ;) I wonder what all those people were so busy with in the run of year as not to show any interest for future OS from Beta 1 up to Beta 10. But now, as the final came up, they appear with the questions every of them was observed and answered there for three times minimum. I understand, to ask is much more convenient for asking one, than to read...

Hi guys and gals,

apologies if this has been asked before but is it possible to install system updates after upgrading to Monterey on an unsupported Mac? Seems to be running fine for now btw (Mbp 15 Retina Early 2013).

Best regards
Max

Successfully updated my iMac12,2 with K3100M from Bigsur 11.6 to Monterey 12.0.1 using OCLP 0.3.1.
After post install patch, everything that worked on Bigsur still work on Monterey, it even feels more fluid (maybe a placebo effect) but yeah, it works insanely great!

I still keep a working High Sierra 10.13.6 on a separate internal SSD for easy troubleshooting, repairing and access to MacOS recovery.

Have you changed your graphics card? I installed Monterey on the same iMac via the System Preference with the ATI Radeon HD 4670 256 MB, the system ran very slowly, so I went back to Big-Sur.

Yes, you can change the GPU, take a look at the link in my signature. Works really great with new AMD cards, no patching on Monterey and nearly fully supported.

And please read the documentation.

Sorry about citing an German language poem:

„Such unter Hydrazin“, steht da. Schon greift der Mensch zum Bande „H“ Und schlägt so eine neue Brücke Zu ungeahntem Wissensglücke. Jäh fällt ihm ein bei den Hormonen Er sucht ja eigentlich: Mormonen! Er blättert müd und überwacht: Mann, Morpheus, Mohn und Mitternacht … Hätt weiter noch geschmökert gern, Kam bloß noch bis zu Morgenstern Und da verneigte er sich tief Noch vor dem Dichter – und – entschlief.

Is there any hope for the ATI Radeon HD 4670 256 MB that it will work with Monterey?
The post install patches are available in the same way as on Big Sur - but the number off (Apple and non Apple) apps relying on metal GPU features is growing day by day. This was not so apparent when Mojave had been introduced, but after three more years you cannot ignore this development any longer.

So changing the GPU or buying a new Mac is the way out of this mess.

Macbook pro 2014 13 inch in Monterey beta 10 and open core 0.2.5 works fine until the notification "inconsistent hash in the volume: There has been detected hash in the volume disk1s5 that does not coincide. Reinstall macOS in this volume", then the brightness of the screen and keyboard becomes almost irresponsible

(Sorry for the screenshot in Spanish)

OC boot picker will not show the boot camp legacy Windows installation. To boot Windows you need to press alt/option on boot and start Windows this way.

You might install UEFI windows. Take a look at this page of the current online documentation.

Since upgrading my mid 2012 MBP from Big Sur to Monterey using OCLP and running the post install patches, I've noticed a near doubling of my CPU temps. They now sit consistently between 55c - 60c even under light cpu load. Has anyone else with similar hardware noticed anything similar ?

Yesterday mine ran with the fans going for most of the day. It has now stopped, no fans today. I put it down to post-upgrade activity. Open the case and clean the fans, if necessary.

BTW, how do you know the temperatures? Are you running a utility?

I had this message with Monterey RC1, build A558, but it disappeared when I ran the delta update to the current public release of A559, on this same exact machine but with equipped with a Samsung SSD.

Maybe try to run the full installer again?

Same behaviour of my MBP 10,1. I guess it's because of a background process, that runs only when the computer is idle: fans run slower when I'm using the computer. I kept Utility Monitor opened and noticed that, despite having the lid closed and the external monitor turned off, there was an intense activity of the GPUs (both discrete and integrated, but not at the same time). I'm a noob, so I'm not able to be more specific about it.

Hi All!
I successfuly updated my CMP 3.1 (early 2008) from MacOS Monterey 12.0 Beta 10 to final release 12.0.1.

Issues - no issues on installation via full installer, but kernel panic on wakeup from NVDA (report on screenshot)
OCLP - 0.3.1

Thanks for contributors!

Read back on this thread on reports of issues with 2012 mini and Monterey OCLP.

Basically, integrated graphics HD 4000 is dropped in Monterey so post-install OCLP patch is required. Some people encountered graphics issues, sleep issues.

Not sure what else.

You can try it out if keen and report back if you see any issues.
Oh is that all? I knew about the HD 4000 issue and the rigamarole required to get it working. I'm ok with that, I thought there were some other issues that might be causing issues.

AHOY!? The B/T Chipset: ? ? THIRD_PARTY_DONGLE installed via OCLP_031 on a Mini3,1 (BRCM2046) running macOS 12.0.1 is not fully compatible with Apple B/T keyboard where Apple B/T Trackpad seems fine.

• Arrow keys and option/alt are dead in Open Canopy but work once logged-in.
• Battery condx indicator missing
• Caps lock light won't light when selected. Can boot into any other macOS and it works as intended.
* Wired Apple Pro K/B on same Mini works perfectly, btw.
