For everyone planning to run macOS 12.1 Beta 1 seeded today, ensure your Mac has an Ivy Bridge or newer CPU
Currently all older CPUs will fail to boot due to RDRAND CPU requirement:
Oh dear.

My 2012 macmini6,1 uses Ivy Bridge. So still in the game for macOS 12.

But honestly, I have been hesitant w/ Monterey, hearing some issues with HD4000 post-install patch.

I will continue on Big Sur for now; it is working great as is.

Odd. 0.3.2N and 12.0.1 Mini5,3 and the bluetooth Magic Keyboard and Magic TrackPad stopped working wirelessly. Bluetooth also will not toggle on. Unpatched and repatched, same. Toggle was broken in 0.3.1 however devices were working, assume bc they were paired before. Thoughts?
Seeing the same on BRCM2046. Suspect recent OCLP B/T patching not fully compatible with Apple B/T KBs. See #2,527 ?

Interesting. The not working at all didn't happen til 0.3.2N but I think I won't be able to connect either again going back bc the switch to turn it on won't flip so I can't re-add them. Dangit! :)

macOS 12.1 STOPS the following Macs:
  • MacPro5,1 and older
  • MacBook7,1 and older
  • MacBookAir4,x and older
  • MacBookPro8,x and older
  • iMac12,x and older
  • Macmini5,x and older
  • Xserve3,1 and older
  • ? ??

What does that mean?
It means that OCLP will not work for Monterey 12.1 and the Macs listed below.
I'm wondering if the wizards here will / can possibly find a workaround? Or does this mean that the party is permanently over for pre-Ivy bridge CPUs and Monterey going forward? What do the wizards see on the horizon right now?

I would hazard a guess that the party is not over for pre-Ivy Bridge machines, the party just moves to another room. Those staying behind have every OS up to 12.1 which is not a paucity of computing power.

But even on a supported Mac, the first few builds of a new OS are often buggy.... Party in a different room for those on older devices is definitely better than no party at all, and I think that everyone here is grateful for all past support for older devices. But, I'm wondering if there are ideas / plans to re-introduce the ability to boot 12.1 and beyond for older devices on the horizon, or does it seem unlikely? Some of the user on this thread have their fingers crossed, their good luck charms by their side, and they waiting with baited breath for another “OCLP-brings-back-HD-4000-graphics-to-Monterey” kind of moment.?????????

Indeed. It will probably be a tiered system where the machines listed here are supported until with the highest build number allowed. Everything after that will be supported until the highest build and on and on. Silicon Macs may be harder to install Opencore on in light of this latest development, but only time will tell.

hi guys
i have a small problem, that i can't semm to resolve. so i have a late 2013 imac (14.2), patched with OCLP. Till now everything was ok, but with the latest update, 12.0.1 it ssems that everything is slower, like my graphic card is't working.
I tried to patch the system with OCLP 0.3.1, i get this result:

i tried to rebuild opencore with SIP disabled, it rebuilds something and puts in a directory, but i don't know what to do with the respective folder.
as i read i have to restart the mac in recovery mode to disable SIP with "csrutil disable", but if i press cmd-r during startup i get a forbidden sign, and the mac shuts down:

is there a solution for this?

As I'm reading it, after you build OpenCore with SIP disabled you have to reinstall it to your main drive and reboot for the changes to be applied (e.g. disabling SIP): Option 5 (set parameters), then option 1 (build), then option 2 (install to internal drive), then reboot.

After that, you can re-patch the system.

*edited for a bit of clarification

1. run OCLP select #1 and #2, pick a disk and select #1 for rebuilding EFI, then reboot with newly build EFI, then pick the macOS.
2. run OCLP again, select #3. if still failed SIP, have a look of #2,502.

Note:
1. As you can see in your photo, you can't use csrutil disable command when using OCLP.
2. And you have to always boot up your Mac with OCLP EFI (either on your internal SSD/HDD or external one). Ideally you want to have the OCLP EFI on your internal SSD/HDD and auto select by holding Ctrl key then select the EFI, and subsequently do the same for your macOS. After you've done this once, your system will pick the right EFI and macOS automatically ever after.
3. Try OCLP v0.3.2 Nightly (TUI version) ....

Can anyone confirm that they can run Monterrey 12.0.1 on their Mac Pro 2008 3,1 ? I seem to have a graphics/boot issue, whereby I can hear the chime, but just completely pure black screen using a ASUS HD5770 :(

Can you share which method you use? Do you use OCLP 0.0.31? That's a GPU official Mac EFI right? My GTX640 used to work under High Sierra and Catalina, but seems like not anymore since I've gotten a black screen during boot even after the Volume Patch.

Hi all, I know you can’t upgrade from a pre patched big sur, I have a legit big sur on my 2015 MacBook, so can I upgrade my install with oclp Monterey rather than clean install?

Hi all, I've installed macOS Monterey on my iMac late 2013 with fusion drive, seems to work fine, but i'm missing the option to change the screen brightness, anyone any idea? (I used OpenCore Legacy Patcher v0.3.1)

Yes.

Once you have installed OCLP EFI and boot through that, you have choices on upgrading to Monterey.

- You can check in current Big Sur's Software Update - it would offer up Monterey and you can go from there

- You can also create a USB installer(Monterey) and upgrade from there

Apply post install patches for NVIDIA Kepler using OCLP, again - welcome to the club!

Let's say that in any case it is already a satisfaction to see Monterey running on this dated car .... and I must say that it runs very well with all its features so if this is the limit, well nothing is eternal in this world thanks guys for the work you have done flawlessly .......

Hi,

I am having the same issue as @Jeremesk - same Macbook, using OCLP 0.3.1 and Monterey 12.0.1

Macbook8,1 (OCLP id's it at Macbook9,1 during EFI build), EFI built to both USB & original SSD that came with the Macbook. Running Big Sur 11.6.1. Installs Monterey from USB. Macos Update Assistant gives error "A required firmware update could not be installed."

Can you please post how you got this working (if you did)?

Thanks!
I have same issue with my iMac11,3, too. Please see my posting on page 100 of this forum. Thanks!
