Issue / change of behaviour on my MBA 2014 after updating to Monterey.

Old behaviour: closing the lid and leaving for several hours disconnected from power then opening the lid brought up the lock screen straight away (and then sign-in automatically via Apple Watch)

Monterey behaviour: closing the lid and leaving for several hours disconnected from power then opening lid does not wake laptop. Power button must be pushed which leads to boot drive picker (only main SSD as an option) - when selected goes to login in screen where password must be entered and then resumes from when lid was closed (so not a reboot - perhaps a hibernation)

My wife's MBA 2015 natively supports Monterey so didn't need patching and doesn't display this behaviour. This doesn't occur when plugged in and has persisted through updates since i first installed Monterey 12.2. Have I missed or checked an option somewhere in OCLP that is causing this?

Ok, there is always the option your AMD GPU has no GOP vBIOS and cannot display an OC boot picker at all and you do not need to bless the USB if you follow my advice and use only the target drive and the USB (which would be the only bootable device plugged in).

Edit:
You can follow this instructions to add a GOP part to the vBIOS of your AMD card. An alternative way would be to add this AMDGOP.efi driver to OpenCore in the same way OpenCanopy.efi has been included. Drop the file at the same folder and add an analogous config.plist entry as shown in the post linked.

Finally Monterey 14.3.1 installed on my cMP5,1, using OCLP 0.4.5 and @Ausdauersportler advice! Thank you!

Some apps cause system freeze, like Notion and VMWare Horizon Client. Both can be used by web browser, so the machine appears to be very stable. I turn off hibernation on System Preferences, to avoid USB keyboard stop working.

Next steps are replacing SATA SSD by a NVME and upgrade bluetooth/wifi hardware (I think it's better before upgrading to Monterey 12.4).

Thank you all people that replied my questions. You're awesome!

Have I missed or checked an option somewhere in OCLP that is causing this
My 2014 macbook pro don't have this issue. So, it is fixable

Thanks for the heads-up. I had no probs updating to Monterey 12.4 with OCLP 4.4 on board. But I see there are updates to post install patches which may possibly be applicable to my rMBP 10,1 so I'll be updating OCLP today.

Edit, later: Finally jumped on the OCLP GUI Musikantenwagen ;), previously was sticking with the TUI after an earlier look revealed some functionality was not yet included in the GUI

The GUI worked extremely well, workflow was perfection, ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I do speak German... but sometimes the lack of brevity, addition of specificity, and and sorts of other things... well it's just hilarious. That's an amazing word.

"Musikantenwagen" is a good one, I confess I had to look it up.

I lived in Düsseldorf for 3 years in the late Seventies / early Eighties. I was teaching English as a Second Language and working with German translators proof-reading their almost-final drafts. I loved the place, would go back any time.

Anyway, sorry to veer off topic, back to Monterey we go.

Two different panics, please check your hardware and boot into another macOS version (possible High Sierra from an external drive) to rule out any hardware related problem. Memory would be the first place to look at.

MacBookPro4,1 Early 2008, 17-inch, OCLP 0.4.6n
Fatal error: macOS 12.4 consistently crashes, rendering 12.4 unusable, while 12.3.1 was performing flawlessly,
Can you look into it, please?

Thank you very much, khronokernel, for your outstanding work.

Looks like some APFS file system extension problem (at least what´s reported). Root cause could be anything from
- memory instability (might be a timing issue that is not seen under 12.3)
- SSD/Trim problem (your special kind/brand of SSD behaving differently under 12.4 now?)
- incompatible system extension(s)

As I do not have this on the exact (?*) same machine, I would advise to change/swap memory modules, disable trim for tests, create a new user or install on fresh drive to see the software side is ok.

* my machine was retrofit with a new Wifi/BT module for max. compatibility and also changed the CCFL display to the LED highrez version (so backlight control also works out of the box again).

Thank you very much for your sound advice, Larsvonhier. I will do as advised and go through the points you mentioned. I'll report the result.

Hi friends! Hope you all have a great day!

My machine still freezing sometimes... I turned off Time Machine, cuz I thought maybe the cause. I'm using Monterey 12.3.1 with OCLP 0.4.5. My hardware are almost standard except for the GPU (ASUS Strix R9 380 2G) and a Kingston SATA SSD. I thought about config.plist settings (AGPM, ASPP and AppleMCEReporter.

Thanks for advices!

I thought about config.plist settings (AGPM, ASPP and AppleMCEReporter.

While I don't believe that these are at fault, neither AGPM-Override nor AppleMCEReporterDisabler are actually needed in your case. If you're interested in digging deeper, you can always try a manual setup:

Yesterday I updated from 12.3.1 to 12.4. 12.3.1 was working great on my 12,2 27" 2011 i7 iMac with OCLP 0.4.3 and now I have no Bluetooth which is particularly inconvenient since my trackpad and keyboard use BT. Anyone have this problem yet?

12.4 requires an extra fix for bluetooth. This is in OCLP 0.4.5. If you redo your EFI with 0.4.5 and boot from there, BT should work again.

MacBook Pro 5,2 17 inch, 1 TB Samsung EVO 860 SSD, successfully updated to 12.5 via OCLP 0.4.6n. No deficits noted.

iMac 13,2 27 inch late 2012, quad core i7 at 3.4 GHz, 1 TB Fusion Drive, 24 GB RAM; updated to 12.5 with OCLP 0.4.6n. No problems noted.

Hope this may be of help.

Thank you to all the developers and forum participants.
