Hey gang-
Holy smokes has Apple quietly pulled Monterey 12.5.1? Check this out. I was in the process of installing OCLP and Monterey onto my Late-2013 iMac 14,2. Here is what I found as I proceeded through to creating a Monterey Installer. I'm running the latest OCLP 0.4.10.
1) Note that there are two occurrences of the latest 12.5.1 (21G83). Not sure why that is, but those are the latest builds as listed here. I choose the first one in this example.

2) Download confirms 12.5.1 (21G83)

3) When the download is complete, note that the Monterey Installer is for v 12.5 (21G82) Yikes! I checked and that is the only occurrence of "Install macOS Monterey" on my computer.
I then repeated steps one to three again using the second occurrence of MacOS 12.5.1 (21G83) and got the same result.

And to make it even stranger, 12.5 (21G82) isn't even an option if you display the full extended list of Installers.

Any ideas what's going on here gang? I'm very reluctant to proceed until I get this figured out. Thanks!
You can download OCLP 0.4.11 Night Build from
https://nightly.link/dortania/OpenCore-Legacy-Patcher/workflows/build-app-wxpython/main/OpenCore-Patcher.app (GUI).zip
whose CHANGELOG.md says it fixes these problems.
Or, via https://github.com/corpnewt/gibMacOS you can download gibMacOs and with this utility you can download the Monterey’s build with the most recent date.

Wow thank you! Is there any way I can view that CHANGELOG? Sounds like I actually did stumble on something. I think I'm going to shelve my plans to install OCLP and Monterey for today. As it is, and reviewing my earlier screenshots, it is impossible to tell what Monterey version and build is going to be installed. Thanks again!

Thank you! From the OCLP 0.4.11 Change Log

  • Remove duplicate OS builds in macOS downloader
    • Avoids Apple's odd bug of publishing 2 different 12.5.1 products
  • Implement deeper macOS installer parsing
    • Provides better version detection than Apple provides in .app
The first item definitely addresses the duplicate OS issue- nice. I wonder if that second item addresses the "anomalous" OS build issue that I observed? i.e. installing a different OS version and build than the one selected for download. I'm still trying to figure out where OCLP came up with Monterey 12.5 (21G82).

Imac 27/late2012/13.2 update to 12.6/10.4 no problems so far, same ask to patch Kepler/Ivybridge.

I keep my Iphone 13 connected by USB, I have just updated to the final IOS 16, and a message has appeared on the Imac saying the Iphone wont connect to the Imac without a software update and asking If I wanted to, I did not fearing it meant going to Ventura.

Update: It makes sense that the message is referring to 12.6, but even after updating Icloud settings and entering the code on the iphone, I still get the message to update after a restart.

also running iOS 16 and there’s one thing I’ve noticed if you Face ID lock a note in Monterey it says you need a later Mac OS to unlock this note haven’t tried it on 12.5.1 or later I did wonder if they make certain things available with only the newest os . Yet if you remove password lock on notes Monterey can see the note again. Ventura running on my unsupported Mac you can view locked notes.

sudo softwareupdate -l shows:
Software Update Tool
Finding available software
Software Update found the following new or updated software:
* Label: Safari16.0MontereyAutoSeed-16.0 Seed 6
Title: Safari, Version: 16.0 Seed 6, Size: 130696KiB, Recommended: YES,
* Label: macOS Monterey 12.6-21G115
Title: macOS Monterey 12.6, Version: 12.6, Size: 1551745K, Recommended: YES, Action: restart,
But the System Preferences Software Update pane errors out and

"softwareupdate --fetch-full-installer --full-installer-version macOS Monterey 12.6-21G115"
Shows: Install failed with error: Update not found
Edit/ Sept. 9
According to a note on the Mr. Macintosh page, this RC is not available as a full installer yet. Maybe next Monday?

After a re-install of Monterey 12.5.1 (using the full 12.45GB installer), the System Preferences Software Update pane error did not appear and that allowed for the update to 12.6.
I still do not know why that System Preferences Software Update pane errors out, but at least I can verify that a full overwrite of the current system will make that error disappear.

For anybody wondering: At this time, I am planning on creating a brand new patcher for Monterey. I plan on using a fully native approach (IE not using OpenCore), and supporting only Metal-comptible systems (2012 and later, plus older systems with upgraded video cards). If this ends up being a huge pain I may reconsider, but as of now I will start working on a patcher within the next few weeks.
I am one of the followers of the Dosdude religion. As such, I have all the family members running "unsupported Macs", in particular I have a 2011 with Catalina patcher and a 2012 running supported (for few more months) Catalina. Said that, is Dosdude still keeping with the Monterey Patcher plan? We all are waiting for the Dosdude WORD. Thank you Dosdude, you are the best!
