Have you reset SMC & NVRAM?
Hi, Yes I have done this multiple times but it doesn't seem to help at all. The mac is now behaving completely predictably in this regard:

1. On shutdown it will 'hang' on the clear desktop picture screen - sometimes over 15 minutes and then reboot itself (silent - no chime). At this point it will shutdown properly (and as always) with hardly any time of the blank desktop picture screen. But on the next boot this cycle begins again.

2. Waking from sleep is no longer possible and the machine power switch must be used to restart. I have now had to turn off sleeping completely.

What version of OCLP are you running? Watchdogd timeouts were fixed a while back. Install OCLP 0.4.11, rebuild and reboot.

edit later: I see from your sig you're running something other than OCLP, not sure what.

Hi rehkram, thanks - I am just running OC with a config by Martin Lo (080) (slightly) modified. Is there anything I can look up about watchdogd timeouts that might help?

Have you tried booting in safe mode? There was some discussion on here that doing so mysteriously fixed the watchdogd timeout thing. It did fix it for me, or at least it stopped crashing after a couple of cold boots into safe mode.

But really I only know about OCLP on my rMBP10,1, I have no experience with MacPros or running Opencore standalone.

I have a problem I don't know how to get around it. I have an iMac 2011 with k4100 graphics card installed. It also has 2 ssd drives. I had one ssd with the EFI partition and the MacOS on it. I used the other SSD to store files. I wanted pull the main SSD and use it in another computer. I installed Monterrey on the second SSD and open core and installed it on the EFI of the second drive. I can't get the iMac to use the EFI partition on the second drive. If I pull the first drive, I get the question mark. Option and reset NVRAM don't work when the drive is pulled. If I put it back in, everything works again. How can I get this computer to boot off of the second drive. Any ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Boot with alt/option, select (2nd SSD) OC boot EFI while holding CRTL and live happily ever after…
The OCLP guide explains howto install and activate OC on an external disk on Macs with working EFI picker.

I wish mine ran 12.6 better, it feels really sluggish. I've tried it a few times. I am on Mojave right now and its way snappier. I only have 8Gb of ram tho.
i agree, with fourth coming release of OCLP 0.5.0 i'll try MacOS Ventura, hopefully way much better than Monterey.

Hello all,

after a hardware upgrade for WiFi and Bluetooth, I was finally able to upgrade my Mac Pro 3.1 to Monterey today. This was done with the wonderful OpenCore Legacy Patcher v04.11.

So far everything is running beautifully. The only thing that still bothers me is that after every reboot I get this dialog:

sipenableddialog.png

It's just a little thing, but still, it would be nice not to see it again.

I had already disabled SIP in recovery mode, but this caused my installation to not boot. So this won't work. Fortunately, I was able to fix this with the USB boot stick by reinstalling OpenCore in its EFI.

These are the current settings of OCLP:

Does anyone have any ideas on how I can fix this? Thanks in advance for helpful hints! :)

Are you using OCLP 0.4.11? Have you run the "after install Root patches"?
A search for that chip number shows several related posts, in short you can use a bluetooth dongle or install a later model card. Actually I suspect that old iMac will run better using Big Sur, but of course that means making a new Big Sur OCLP boot USB and a complete erase of the target disk - which is an SSD or a HDD?

Do a search on your bluetooth card's number, the last result has a long list. I don't know about the dongles.
Try a search about them as well, should be easy to find one that works.

Macbookpro 9,2 got it to boot into Monterey just fine after OCLP install. Performed post-install patches and rebooted.

Now all I get is the folder with question mark

Reboot and hold "alt" key. What volumes are being offered to boot from?

Only the main drive shows

*I'm dumb you guys. I didnt rebuild and install OCLP on the internal disk for EFI boot first.

Its working now

I am curious though. I only have monterey installed as the core and only OS. I'm not 100% sure what needs to be done to make sure I'm able to stay up to date and patched

Go to https://eclecticlight.co/lockrattler-systhist/ and get SilentKnight.
Run it to check for the latest xprotext etc.

I don't know what Apple did, but 12.6 is much slower than the previous version 12.5.1; version 12.6.1 RC fixed it, it's faster, and I only have 4GB RAM.

Its something about my 2015 and Monterey that just feels slow. My downgraded it to Mojave and its so much snappier. I have a 12.6 image on a TB drive, I'll give 12.6.1 a shot and see if its any better.

Hi everyone,

Is there any solution for serious UI lag? I just bought a used 17-inch Macbook Pro (2011) and installed Monterey with OCLP 0.4.11. Everything is perfect except the UI lags. Scrolling pages in the browser and swiping in launchpad. It's so slow that I can't see the animation and I have to wait for proceeding.
I think it was caused by the GPU, so I tried patching with TS2 Accerlate in OCLP 0.4.1.1, and set the GPU up in the terminal but nothing worked. The lags still exist. So I'm here to ask, any way to solve this? Can I just disable the iGPU and use the dGPU?
