Finally OK with my MacbookPro mid 2014 mac 11,3.(clean install) Using OpenCore Monterey and th -e suffix
universal control seems to not work on my machine, Did anybody test this new functionality with an unsupported mac ?
Also Sidecar seems to work but is awful in quality

Haven't tried it. I have not noticed any change in this function from Big Sur. System report shows both GPU's:

Thanks for your reply! Interesting that your system report doesn't show Intel HD Graphics 4000 as your Integrated GPU. Also, no mention of "retina" in the display. I'll include my graphics report below.

So, you haven't checked/tested to see if a graphics intense app, like Photoshop, causes the GPU to dynamically switch to NVIDIA GeForce GT650M (the discrete GPU). I'll also include screenshots of the "About This Mac" first normal integrated GPU, then second discrete GPU while running Photoshop.

MacOS Monterey Universal Control Not Working
It seems to be a problem for many supported devices!

Along with the thread I linked above is another thread about how "awesome" the new feature is. Also, there is a description from Apple about the devices it works with and some of the requirements to operate:

  1. Available on MacBook Pro (2016 and later), MacBook (2016 and later), MacBook Air (2018 and later), iMac (2017 and later), iMac (5K Retina 27-inch, Late 2015), iMac Pro, Mac mini (2018 and later), and Mac Pro (2019); and iPad Pro, iPad Air (3rd generation and later), iPad (6th generation and later), and iPad mini (5th generation and later). Both devices must be signed in to iCloud with the same Apple ID using two-factor authentication. To use wirelessly, both devices must have Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and Handoff turned on and must be within 10 meters (30 feet) of each other. iPad and Mac must not be sharing a cellular and internet connection. To use over USB, you must trust your Mac on the iPad.

With a supported Mac its quite easy to install Monterey on a iMac14,1 without any bootstick. I installed Monterey on an thunderbolt drive and patched this drive with opencore monterey. thats all. IMac 14,1 doesnt need any post install drivers.

Hi all

Let's go and have fun!

macOS 12 Monterey succesfully installed on cMP5,1 without issue.

Create USB installer successfully patched with Barry's µ-patcher v0.5.1 (script "micropatcher.sh" modified for Monterey)

After a few quick tests I discovered that the 2 ethernet ports do not work but the Wifi works perfectly.

Could not activate "Continuity" because the file: System/Library/Frameworks/IOBluetooth.framework/Versions/A/Resources/SystemParameters.plist is empty...

Hello everyone, we've finalized our first draft of Monterey support into mainline OpenCore Legacy Patcher! Currently not much has changed with regards to patcher process, but we wanted to properly add this to mainline so all the newly unsupported machines could try out Monterey!

Below you can find our nightly build, however 0.1.7 will be released on Github likely on the coming Monday:
As a reminder, this build includes support for all Macs supported in Big Sur with OpenCore Legacy patcher with addition to these machines:
  • iMac 2014 and early 2015
    • iMac14,4, iMac15,1
  • MacBook 12" 2015
    • MacBook8,1
  • MacBook Air 2013 and early 2014
    • MacBookAir6,1, MacBookAir6,2
  • MacBook Pro 2013 and 2014
    • MacBookPro11,1, MacBookPro11,2, MacBookPro11,3
We've had great reports from MacBookPro11,1 and MacBookPro11,3 on our Discord as well with these builds. Hope everyone enjoys the new additions!

Also wanted to bring attention to the legacy GPU and recently dropped Intel HD 4000. We highly encourage users with Intel HD 4000 and non-Metal GPUs to avoid Monterey for the time being due to WindowServer boot loops as well as misc other issues. Many of our community developers are hard at work with research and testing so we ask everyone to be patient and respectful.

Well just an update - using OCLP 1.7 managed to reinstall Montery on my 13,2 iMac with out any issues at all - works perfectly - everything is working now as expected and seems a lot snappier than Big Sur.

Happy as a bee in Honey here now :D. Thanks to everyone on this thread for stepping up so quickly with a complete working solution. Now we wait for the next update to land and see if this updates as expected :D

Thank you everyone - iMac 13,2 working 100% with MacOS 12 Beta 1

No boot hang issues or anything with this install?

Bonsoir,

iMac 12,1

OCLP 0.1.6 + OC 0.7.0 Final, everything looks ok, slower startup, reinstallation of my Logitech LCC driver and reinstallation of Tuxera NTFS which was not working anymore.

Did you still have to use the modified version of Barry’s micropatcher that was made for these iMacs with updated graphics?

For anybody wondering: At this time, I am planning on creating a brand new patcher for Monterey. I plan on using a fully native approach (IE not using OpenCore), and supporting only Metal-comptible systems (2012 and later, plus older systems with upgraded video cards). If this ends up being a huge pain I may reconsider, but as of now I will start working on a patcher within the next few weeks.
you saved us with catalina patcher and dGPU disable, please consider our 17”s with Intel 3000 video cards

Upgraded to Monterey on my MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013) with MacBookPro11,2 using the Legacy patcher app. Everything seems to work fine, except the Windows OS I had installed on bootcamp doesn't show as a boot option any more. Any idea what I need to do to bring it back as an option? Note that once I boot into Monterey, I can still start Windows from the same bootcamp partition using VMware Fusion.

dosdude1. Great to hear from you again. That's really good news. The patcher approach was always easy to use and produced good results on my unsupported iMac's.
I tried using BKE's Big Sur patcher to install Monterey without any success. In spite of renaming all the visible components that specifically referenced "Monterey" it still returned the error message "Failed to locate Big Sur recovery USB stick." Perhaps this was a rather naive approach, but the info.plist file from the installer seems to indicate that Monterey has doubts about its own identity.

I was only after a first 'normal' reboot (i.e. after fully installing, going through OS setup, etc.) that it went to the black screen with a cursor and wait icon.

That was this morning, and I had to get off to work ;) - I haven't tried again since - so don't yet know whether it can actually reboot okay sometimes (though I was assuming so...) - will report back.

Yeah, I spoke too soon. As I say, I got through all the install reboots, and through all the OS config screens and into first run of OS completely fine (except for tiny text). But after the first 'normal' reboot, it seems to have gone to black screen with cursor every time. :-(

What did you modify in BKN's Micropatcher? The following line references the macOS version as a string, is that all?

for x in "Install macOS Big Sur" "Install macOS Big Sur Beta" "Install macOS Beta"

my virus scanner find a virus in open core patcher
