Yes, it's very strange - 12.0.1 offered once more!
Indeed, also here.
I vaguely remember that towards the end of the Big Sur beta cycle, we saw two release (pre)candidates with the same version number, but I may be wrong.

@m3rih: if you have root patches applied with oclp (I guess you had to), then the big size is normal. The small size of updates is available only if the root volume remained unaltered.

You mean If I unpatched by using OCLP, will I see small size?

12.0.1 running very well on my MBP5,2 (non-metal Nvidia 9600M GT).

Installed it OTA over 12.0b10 using oclp 0.3.1n TUI from about 12hrs ago. Then applied the root patches with 0.3.1n from about 4hrs ago. I.e. this includes the (for installation and patching) "Synch PatchSupportPkg" and (for patching) the "ADP2,1 data set" commits.

It installed unattended right to the user login screen. During root patching I recorded the output of oclp just in case something had to be reverted. But after patching it booted right away, using the newer 0.3.1n of the two mentioned. No extra manual action taken.

Acceleration is there, Safari fine so far (I'm using version 14.1.2). Using reduced transparency. Menu bar left and right half look ok. Other (for me) essentials like Photos.app running fine.

Happiness! Thanks!
(the only drawback being that I can go for a new Mac only in a year from now)
Regarding Safari, I was using 14.1.2 and the 15.1 (which comes with 12.0.1).
I observed freezing with both of them. Plus with 14.1.2 downloads didn't start properly.
Observed that when frozen and one can e.g. not move the scrollbar anymore, or text typed in does not show, these actions become effective when moving the focus away from Safari, e.g. to Finder by clicking the screen background. But beyond that, it remains frozen.

Now working with Firefox 93.0 without problems so far.

yeah, Safari is a bit of problematic.. hopefully it will be fixed soon.

Had the same issue, if you install dev seed profile, it will offer 12.0.1 update.
Thanks for the suggestion and changed from beta to dev account with terminal command: still not getting any OTA update prompt. Also tried changing SMBIOS in the latest OCLP 0.3.1nb from Minimal to Moderate without any luck.
A consolation prize is that the 12.0.2RC has just been released, it saves me the effort to install 12.0.1RC?

Try restarting, and checking for the update..?

Yes (tried restarting) and No (no update) ???
I even tried the OCLP 0.3.0, still no luck.

Add: by enrolling to the dev seed program via terminal command, the Big Sur upgrade to 11.6.1 showed up from the current 11.6 macOS.

Thanks so I have to do a cleaned install of monterey so I first format the ssd and then install from a bootUSB thumb drive is that right, thanks for making me understand. So no way for me to do update from patched sur to Monterey.

It says
  • You can however reinstall macOS with this patcher and retain your original data
You may get lucky for retaining your original data! It seems you may need to install OCLP Big Sur first then upgrade to Monterey in order to retain your data. Others feel free to jump in if not correct.

Yes, you can directly install Monterey over Big Sur without reformatting to preserve your data.
In fact, I installed mine over High Sierra with no problem.
But the advice of course is always to make a backup of your data first in case of unexpected problem, since Monterey is currently in beta only and first final release will be on 25th Oct.

Monterey 12.0.1 RC2 build no. (21A559) done.

I was running the first 12.0.1 (RC?) and then noticed another update. Since I had post-patched my install, the download size showed 11.59GB. I went ahead and launched OCLP to undo the post-install (option 3), rebooted and when I checked the update the size dropped to 900+MB which I took. Had a couple of hang ups midst upgrade (waiting ~2hrs), couple of power cycles and third attempt to boot up I let it go through, took about 30 minutes. I'm not sure what it was doing before during the previous boots but third attempt completed successfully. Since the resolution was back to original "tiny", I applied the post-install patch, reboot and all good.

One thing I noticed while poking around System Report, under Disabled Software I have the following -

Anyone know how to remedy the Apple Software USB drivers? my USB port works so I'm not sure what is exactly blocked.

@furdi Hey, seems like your MBP is a laptop version of my Mac mini 2012 with effectively same hardware. I can't seem to get an answer from anyone if it's safe to upgrade from my OCLP Big Sur install to Monterey 12.0.1.
Do you mind sharing the steps you took to upgrade/install? Thanks
Hi and sorry for the delay but I was shooting in some locations without wifi... :(
The steps are as following: download and run OCPL 0.2.5 (the reason I don't use 0.3.0 is because a lot have reported issues with it) after search for the update on settings-software updates. Once it fonds it, download and install like on supported MBP's. After install, run the patch from tha OCPL 0.2.5, to download and install the support for the HD4000.

Pretty much that's it! I had an issue that after it installed everything, at the last reboot, got stuck at the apple logo screen mid way. I performed a hard reboot (kept the power button pushed until closed and then restarted) and at the restart, all was normal. It did it again when after few days I just performed a regular restart and it got stuck again mid way. Did the same hard reboot and all was fine. In rest, everything works perfect, very fast and smooth.

Hope it helps! Have a great day!

Smooth upgrading OTA to 12.0.1 2nd release candidate. Using oclp 0.3.1n downloaded today (22 Oct) for installation and root patching.

EDIT: as a test, in this installation replaced the SkyLight framework with ASentientBot's latest release ("now.with.working.powerchime.and.safari.extensions").
Still booting and running fine! Will watch Safari 15.1 behaviour now.
Using jackluke's BigSurmountsrw.app for such replacements, while running from Big Sur.

Safari still freezes, I continue using Firefox for now.

EDIT2: another test with Hackintosh HD's patch to get dynamic GPU switching for MBP 5,1+5,2. Successful now! Replaced AppleMuxContol.kext inside AppleGraphicsControl.kext. Can switch now using gfxCardStatus.

Big thank you to Hackintosh HD.

I'm about to replace a 21.5 mid 2010 imac gpu with a nvidia k1100m kepler in order to install monterey when it's released. Has anyone with a similar setup, especially the gpu upgrade, been able to run Zoom Meeting on the betas without hiccups?

12.0.1 (2nd release) does feel very quick On my mid 2014 really proving there’s no reason it should of been dropped in my opinion. Used to have a slow pop up of menu bar when logging in on betas like a few seconds for it to appear but that all seems fixed now. Still getting stuck on the 40% install tried unpatching then installing which resulted in the smaller OTA but still got stuck but it works after safe mode Kepler patch .
