Anyone else still having an issue reading external USB drives? It's painfully slow. Was hoping it would be fixed with 13.1 but alas. Is this an OCLP issue or a Ventura one?
I've noticed that sometimes my iMac mis-identifies a USB 3 drive as USB 2, which you can check in About This Mac > More Info > System report > USB. Just unplugging the drive and re-connecting it usually resolves this issue, although not permanently.

I also have an iMac 2011 21" with the K110M card running Ventura. Even though the integrated speakers are not presently working, the headphone jack is still functional using .52. Plugging in headphones or external speakers seem fine if/until this can be addressed.
Hi, do you tjhink that I can ugrade my actually running Monterey Imac 12.1 (Mid 2011 21.5) with XEON CPU and K2100M GPU?

yes you can do it easily, update to Ventura 13.1... (I have also iMac 21.5 2011 with quadro k1000m)

1. however if you use OCLP 0.53 surely the wifi module will not work so you should use a compatible usb key and a small program (Wireless.USB.Big.Sur.Adapter-V17), otherwise you have to use OCLP 0.54 nightly, the wifi will work but you will surely a graphic bug in the menu bar, some icons on the right would not be displayed including control center, widget, date, time, wifi, bluetooh but everything would work (I am attaching what happens to me on iMac 12.1);

2. for me with k1000m graphics card (I think it's a general problem of Nvidia quadro kxxxx cards unless future corrections with OCLP) the integrated audio output no longer works, the built-in speakers to understand (lack of driver for integrated output, all due , I think, to the type of graphics card, to some of its components) but the headphone output would work so with connected external speakers you will have audio... in general I'm quite satisfied except, for now, for this small bug of the icons in the menu bar.. .

Thank you, very interesting infos, as asson as mu MBP will be back from keyboard replacement, I will try.
I have also a module

I also have an BCM94360CS2 BCM943224PCIEBT2 12+6 Pin WIFI wireless card module with BT 4.0... somewhere in my disorder, with adapter for my bay, I was not able to make it running in the past, maybe now is time for a new attempt

Do not install the security update. It broke my MacOS
I had been successfully running OCLP 0.5.2 and OSX Ventura 13.1 latest beta on my iMac 27" late 2015 (https://everymac.com/systems/apple/...-inch-aluminum-retina-5k-late-2015-specs.html)

Then I installed the latest security update and it broke my Mac OS too.

I have tried rebooting multiple times including internet recovery...finally I was able to run OSX Monterey from a Time Machine USB Seagate HD backup. Disk First Aid identifies no issues while in Monterey.

Before I download an earlier OSX full version to install are there any suggestions for a fix?

I have emailed Mr. Macintosh .... but received no reply.

I have no problem with reformatting/erasing the iMac internal hard drive by the way.

My MacOS 13.1 system just will not boot after all the usual tricks liking zapping PRAM, internet recovery (won't install a new OSX because of "internal hard disk incompatibility"). I see the Apple logo and progress bar but it always hangs/stops one third the way along the progress bar.

Thanks to those who troubleshoot for their time/consideration.

Still trying to figure out why many macOS Icons won't show in the Menu Bar? Date Time ect..

oclp v0.5.4n 13.2 22D5027d on cMP 5,1

maybe it's because of beta 13.2?
I am running 13.1 on a 4,1/5,1 with OCLP 0.5.3 and have not yet received an offer to update to 13.2 beta. My Coffee Lake hackintosh got the OTA update a while ago along with the Security Response update and is working well. Ventura on the 4,1/5,1 is not as smooth as with Monterey but time will tell.

13.0.1+0.5.1 did not resolve my SMB over ethernet issue but I have to use a wireless connection to my Time Machine backup on Synology. (Cannot connect to a Windows machine either if wired.) No worse than 13.0, however.
Since it took me 2 months to get to the bottom of this, I would like to reply myself the solution I found in case anyone stumbles upon the same issue. It has nothing to do with Ventura, or OCLP. It was because the machine has both wired and wireless connection turned on, but the hostname always resolves to the IP address of the wireless interface. I learned to clear the ARP cache to no avail, but I turned off wireless completely now, and cleared ARP cache on both my NAS and my router.

Another Ventura exercise on MBP5,2 mid 2009:

Starting with 13.0 on an external SSD. Using latest OCLP 0.5.4n (last commit regarding comments for UHCI/OHCI) for EFI and root patching. Monterey, just updated OTA to 12.6.3, remains on internal SSD.
OTA update to 13.1 went fine. Applied root patches, fine. WIFI working!
OTA update to 13.2 beta went fine. Same with root patches.
KDK handling (load, install/merge) worked well.
Tried also the Rapid Security Response 13.2 (a), known result: message that update preparation failed. According to khronokernel's comment cited earlier, no use to try further.

Also played a bit with the UHCI/OHCI in the hope to get internal USB 1.1 devices to work, esp. keyboard/trackpad, but no success. Looked at/modified resources/build/misc.py lines 196-205.

Despite that, Ventura on that machine is good enough e.g. to type this post. Thank you OCLP developers, looking forward to more testing.

On MBP11,1 end 2013:
13.1 installed from USB installer on external SSD, using OCLP 0.5.3 release. All fine. SSD was prepared as a CCC data clone of the internal SSD.
Big Sur (the last Apple supported system on this machine) remains on internal drive for now.

On MBP16,1 2019:
Ventura supported by Apple. Using 13.1 on internal SSD, and 13.2 including RSR 13.2 (a) on external SSD.

I wonder on what machine did you install 13.0 in the first place? Wish I could get to boot into the installer with a MacBookPro4,1 somehow or swap a external SSD (with already installed Ventura on MacBookPro9,1), but so far no luck with that endeavour.

Maybe the chipset from MBP4,1 and 5,2 are just different enough to not let this work, at least for now?!

At the time I made a CCC data clone of the internal Monterey SSD to a freshly erased external SSD, then installed 13.0 to it from a USB installer. Needed (and still need) an external keyboard and mouse connected to the MBPs USB connectors. I think otherwise it just worked...

Meanwhile with 0.5.3 or 0.5.4n post-install patches wifi is working, and framebuffer also.

On my Late 2015 27" iMac (17.1) with AMD Radeon R9 M395, most everything works fine. I've noticed that "Photos" works fine with still photos, but freezes when I try to view a movie recorded on my iPhone 13. I also noticed that Lightroom (Classic) V12.1 no longer displays the .HEIC images from my iPhone (It did before, under Monterey) It does not render the image. Now I need to convert the photos to .jpeg before importing into Lightroom. My 12,1 MacBook Pro 2015 does not have either of these issues, so I'm guess it has to do with my particular iMac.

Are these two issues related? Are they known issues with the 17,1 iMacs? Any suggestions; in particular for the movies in Photos to cause it to freeze?

Thanks!

macOS Ventura 13.1 (22C65), OpenCore V0.5.3

There are definitely some issues on these iMacs, I think it’s all related to the AMD graphic drivers …
Unfortunately, for me, it’s not reliable enough for the moment, and I am not sure the OCLP developers will be able to fix that …
So I have rolled back to Monterey, I prefer stability over new features.

Thanks. Good point about rolling back; I've been thinking about doing that on this iMac. I see there are some uninstalling instructions on the OpenCore GitHub site. Are there any step-by-step guides?

Trick to reactivate Control Center and related icons after WiFi Patch

I accidentally found a temporary solution to resolve Control Center after Wifi Patch on my iMac12.2 (27-inch, Mid 2011). The solution is to launch the Control Center from another path via Terminal

The Control Center app is located at "/System/Library/CoreServices/ControlCenter.app"
Copy the app to another place (in my case I put it on my desktop)
Right-click, then "Show Package Content". Then "Contents/MacOS/" and run the file "ControlCenter"

The window that opens from the Terminal CANNOT be closed, otherwise you will have to do the process again

So here´s my update on the internal BT USB HUB for Ventura on cMP4,1 and 5,1.
Circuit schematics are drawn, CAD layout finished, PCBs are ordered and will arrive early Jan. ´23.
Parts for 15 units are already in house, so I´m eager to build it and see how it works...

Screenshot shows the KiCad CAD layout. The PCB will be 44x26mm in size and has a mounting hole to be installed at the place of the old BT module. External 2x USB 2.0 will be available for std. back plate connection.

Will report back here with (hopefully) the success story ;-)
Amazing.

My external SSD (Ventura 13,2) is on an hub Elecife usbC and it boots on all my devices, my two minis 6,2, mini 6,1, mini 2018 and Lenovo x230 (with dedicated bootloader).
The original installation was done on my main mini 6,2.
Important. As all my minis (6,1-6,2) have OCLP installed i don't have any bootloader, i just have a dedicated usb to boot Lenovo x230 and i don't need any root patch on it.
Mini 8,1 is supported so it doesn't need anything else.

Ah I see, I think I had the same idea, just backup (what’s possible) from the internal installed Monterey and then upgrade this internal Monterey to Ventura, which should give the best chances to get it bootable.

BTW, I always clone the whole Monterey container from within Disk Utility and restore everything with ASR from the Terminal which works quite ok, just delete any addtitional snapshots before backing up, otherwise the ASR replication might error out.

EDIT:

Just read you comment again, think I got it wrong first time, mhh. You did not install Ventura to the internal drive first, but to the external SSD, where you copied the CCC Data clone to first, right?

The problem with the MBP4,1 is probably a bit worse, because I can’t even boot from the Ventura installer USB flash drive. Maybe best to have a cup of green/black tee and wait for the devs, what they come up with. Other than that I’m really happy how nicely Monterey works on a machine of this age.

You may want to see this... https://github.com/dortania/OpenCore-Legacy-Patcher/issues/1019. The advice is to hold off installing the Update until further notice.

Works fine up to Monterey, not straight with Ventura. Will need some additional tweak (either by driver/kext/OC or hardware). I'm on it to prepare a simple HW solution...

Do we know if the apps crashing when using keyboard shortcuts is due to running on unsupported Macs, or is it happening to regular Ventura users also?
In my case apps crash with the command and arrow keys regardless of the shortcut. This started with beta 2. So I guess it will be solved in next releases
happens alot using the arrow keys in Excel alot and sometimes in safari.
Is anyone experiencing any bug with Copy-Paste?
When pasting anything on any app that app just crashes. Happen with very app. Text, copy files between folders, everything, as soon as Cmd past is pressed, crashes. But only happens doing the keyboard shortcut, if I do Edit - Copy - Edit-paste no crash. This only happens on the patched machine with RC2. On the previous versions, no such problem.

Any update on this issue? I cannot use any shortcut or arrow keys because apps crash. Ventura 13.1 MBA 2017
