Any MBP 5,2 2009 17" Penryn owners can comment if they also have to disable featureunlock?
On Monterey with OCLP 0.5.2 and OCLP 0.5.3 I started noticing that I couldn't open apps after a while if they weren't opened soon after a reboot.
Ausdauersportler linked this to featureunlock and it does seem to be fixed with disabling them.
I'm trying to establish this is a problem for my system only or for this model. Because in the standard settings of OCLP this is half enabled.

Thanks for any reply and another big thumps up for the amazing work of the developers!

Successfully updated my Macbook Air 4,2 to Ventura 13.2 from Monterey 12.6.3 and it runs amazing with just 4 GB of RAM! I'd say better than how it was performing on Monterey.

A problem I've had in both MacOS Monterey and MacOS Ventura is that I have to disable post root patches because of screen recording permissions not allowing any app that requires it to recognize that it has already been enabled.

Anyone have any ideas why this might be?
Super cool, thanks for reporting this!

I guess Photos and Maps do have the usual glitches, though? (Eg „All Photos“ Tab not available)

Hello everyone, tell me there is a solution to the problem with bluetooth? The mouse sees but does not connect ....

Oh that´s the reason why one of my older Penryn MBs behaves so strange being unable to start apps after a while.
Have not tried to figure it out yet, but will try to disable the feature unlock and see how it goes then.
Thanks for the hint.

Hi Guys,
I have a cMP 5,1 with an RX 580. I installed ventura but once at the login window the screen goes black. Any workaround?

Does it work in general to upgrade with OCLP directly via software update from Monterey 12.6.3 to Ventura 13.2?
I don't think it will work. Generally, it's best to make a usb installer with OCLP for the major macOS releases.
On the other hand, incremental releases can be updated over the air with much ease.
At least, that is what I have done since the OCLP era..
If someone has a better understanding of this, please collaborate

According to the bug report, the issue is that the usb1.1 drivers were removed. So it probably worked for you because your keyboard and mouse were usb2.0.

Gotcha. However, I *did* need the external keyboard and mouse for my 2010 Macbook Pro. Makes sense. Thanks.

hello Mike I have the same as you have no "I" no extra info
Thanks. I have it on 13.2 and had it on 13.1….however, it was fine under Monterrey. I leave it plugged in for the most part and battery cycles is staying at 622 and 78% health according to Coconut battery. So I’m not too concerned but would like to have that option.

did you restart with holding shift already? then you should be able log in and do the post install patch for your RX 580. After that it should work. I have RX 560 and thats how I did it

… After a reboot into native Big Sur (on an external SSD), a “deep” NVRAM reset (with 5+ startup chimes) and also an SMC reset, sleep finally seems to work on the MacBookPro11,3, also in OCLP’d Ventura: very good, indeed - and one less problem to worry about…:)

With my MP5,1 I have a metal capable ATI HD 79xx card - had to install the post fixes twice, once to install the wifi drivers, then a second time to pull the latest KDK file down, apply the graphics driver fixes and bluetooth - now everything is working as it did on Monterey.

My iMac 10,1 though is another story - but i'll figure it out and post an update - seems to stick on the apple logo boot screen after applying the post fix patches - something to keep me out of trouble tonight :D

Thank you very much for the hint. When I press the shift key to start in safe mode the progress bar gets stuck…

Can‘t install the post install root patches since I don‘t see anything :-/

Hello, I am using OpenCore-Patcher v 0.6.1 on a late 2016 MacBook Pro 15" with a Intel Skylake / AMD Radeon Pro 460 4 GB Graphics (MacBookPro13,3) to run macOS Ventura 13.2 (unsupported for this MacBook Pro). I can't play H.265 (HEVC) videos, H.264 videos work though. Also videos shot on my iPhone X don't play (uses H.265 (HEVC) codec). QuickTime Player hangs or reports it can't open them, while in Monterey it does. Seems hardware support for this codec doesn't work (in Monterey, last supported OS, it does!). Can anyone confirm this? Is this bug already reported to the developer of OpenCore? Is there any solution for this (hopefully this bug will be addressed in the next version).

MBP4,1 now working with internal keyboard and trackpad in Ventura 13.2 transfered from MBP9,1 via USB flash drive to its internal SSD (cloned APFS container with Disk Utility before root patching).

First two attempts didn’t work to root patch on the MBP4,1 (it said: Error with Filesystem on Update Volume), that was with OCLP 0.6.1 after a few tries to exclude any other potential culprits I tried again with OCLP 0.6.0, with that root patching successfully completed (also fetching KDK while doing its thing).

Also thanks again to @Larsvonhier for giving the crucial advice to unplug any added USB3.0 controllers (ExpressCard adapter in my case) before patching.

It would be nice though, if the USB3.0 adapter could not be made working with root patches applied, that it could somehow be fully deactivated via software, so one doesn’t need to remove it manually before booting into Ventura.

Anyhow, it’s really a major accomplishment to get this far with OCLP – again, hats off to the devs!

It's a known issue with hardware encoder/decoder for AMD GPUs (same problem with late 2015 27" iMac).
It's a very annoying issue.
Of course OCLP developers are aware of that (it's in the know issues list), but it's probably not easy to fix (maybe impossible). To make it work, they have backported old AMD drivers that are probably not fully compatible with Ventura.
I am not very confident about a future fix ... but I hope I am wrong.
As they can't develop drivers by themselves, they have to repackage existing components.

Ah, ok. Thanx for the reply. It's rather strange that the issue is about H265(HEVC) hardware codec support. The H264 codec works fine and also the 2D and 3D video acceleration as well.

Yes, that is what I meant, have edited my post. Edit your quote from me if you have a moment to not confuse anyone?
Yes, all ports working. Be sure to have an external keyboard and mouse ready, as the onboard keyboard and trackpad becomes unresponsive until you apply the patches.
Eek! This is good info! luckily I recently acquired an keyboard/mouse combo with an old iMac. I didn't have those when I updated the MBA4,2 to Monterey. Didn't realize the new requirements/procedure to bump to Ventura.

This requirement is probably only for Macs with onboard USB 1.1 (?) keyboard/trackpad AFAIK and I have only seen it on my MBA 3,2 so far. Good luck!
