I just attempted to apply OCLP 0.6.6n post-install patches to my OCLP 0.6.5-patched MBP6,2. I ran into the "failed to rebuild kernel cache" problem again and I think I might see a pattern. It seems to me that I only experience the kernel cache build error when I apply new OCLP post-install patches without having first applied a macOS update (e.g. upgrade patches from OCLP 0.6.5 -> 0.6.6 without first performing a macOS upgrade). "Revert patches" didn't fix the problem, so my most reliable solution to the kernel cache build error continues to be a clean install/migration of macOS.

Just reporting this in case it helps the devs.

Oh ok, so it's probably unrelated to the new PCI patch.
Can be unrelated, but maybe dev's will found a fix for those like me with this problem. I made some tests and I discovered that the backlight is completely off on laptop display. But if I attach the second monitor, sleep-wake work OK on it. I don't know what kind a display I have on this laptop, but like @Larsvonhier said I suspect this is the issue. Attached some infos. If need more please ask. Thank you!

I installed the newest OCLP 0.6.6n and then "Build + Install OpenCore" to my 15"rMBP 2014 (11,2/base model).
After this I updated to newest macOS 13.4 RC3.

Now I stuck on the LogIn Screen - the progress bar gets stuck.😞

It doesn't matter if I try to log in normally or with pressed shift key (safe mode); with second user account same problem.

Any instructions how to get out of it (terminal?) ?

Edit:
  1. Reset NVRAM doesn't helped.
  2. Tried also new install by USB installer (13.4 beta4) over the system. Didn't work – EVERY Video file is crashing to LogIn Window also with Quicklook a video file.
  3. Now fresh install OCLP 0.6.6n (2023-05-17) + macOS 13.4 beta4 (RC not available) - Hope at least this works...

I don't know what kind a display I have on this laptop, but like @Larsvonhier said I suspect this is the issue.

Mactracker says about the 17-inch MBP4,1 (early 2008) display:
Code:
17-inch (diagonal) CCFL or LED backlit TFT, Optional glossy

EveryMac knows the following:
Code:
By default, the 17-Inch models have the same display also
-- an antiglare CCFL-backlit 17" widescreen 1680x1050
active-matrix display, but whereas the "Mid-2007/Santa Rosa"
model could be upgraded to a CCFL-backlit higher-resolution
1920x1200 display, the "Early 2008/Penryn" model can be
upgraded to an LED-backlit higher-resolution 1920x1200
display for US$100.

I'll just wait for the 13.4 public release, followed by an OCLP public release that will no doubt appear soon behind it. Will then check for any early adopter squalling on here before pushing the 'go' button.

I must be getting old, I seem to have a lot more patience these days. Everybody needs to calm TF down.

Thank you! Switching to LED it is a bit expensive for a laptop that old. The wake-sleep was working OK on Monterey, so maybe dev's will fix it in Ventura even for CCFL-backlit.

I am sorry for two posts. I wanted to delete the first. I didn't know how. I am sending this to ask how to delete a post. No doubt there is an easy way, but I am not the sharpest of tools this morning

I think it's same as in other forums – you could only exchange the content with sth like "...".
And if you like it "clean" then klick after this the "Report" button to ask the mods to delete your posts.
Maybe the own delete is possible for the first xx minutes after posting. No it isn't.

Hello Guys,
I need your help; I am at the moment a little scary to do any updates.

I need the XCode debugger. At the moment, developing for weeks with a crashing lidb-rcp-server is very annoying.

There is a mention about this here in this forum and on github - https://github.com/dortania/OpenCore-Legacy-Patcher/discussions/1046

Is going to OCLP 0.6.6 with the latest XCode 14.3.1 and Ventura 13.3.1 a solution or? Any suggestions? If working on this, is there any progress?

Thank you!!!

Install OCLP to a USB drive, boot from it and select OpenCore, then select the Ventura on the Mac.
BIG Thanks. I do as what you told me but it won't work. Still couldn't boot the machine. I'm afraid it's because the OCLP 0.5.xx version postpatcher installed on the Ventura drive and got problems when I try to boot it. HOW can I uninstall these patchers from the drive with my machine can't booting. Or is there any way that I can install OCLP 0.6.5 post-patchers to the Ventura drive?

In such a case I did following with success – if you stay on Ventura:
Boot from USBStick and go to here and delete JUST❗️ Systemvolume NOT your Data! Pay attention what you're choosing.
Then install Ventura 13.2.1 (till now my best choice – cause still having problems with later versions also after clean install).

You seemed patient until you started to sound like you're old....maybe add--"get off the grass"!!! 🤣🤣

Stay on the grass - you'll feel much calmer.

That's a great trick. Will definitely need to try that.

Just a thought, did you remember to spoof your laptop after installing OCLP? I myself use an unsupported MBP11,4 (15", 2015); post-install OCLP advised that it be spoofed to MBP14,3 (which is supported by Apple for Ventura). Thereafter it worked flawlessly
What settings exactly did you use to spoof the MacBook (screenshot of the settings would be great)?
I don't think I can avoid trying this as my MBP keep crashing to LogIn Window when playing videos (Safari, Apple TV app).

13.4 is released.

Mr. Macintosh has it now online🤗

macOS Ventura Final Full Installer

‼️ Warning‼️
The link given at Mr. Macintosh - you will be linked to an older beta version (22F59).🙈

Meanwhile it's better to download the current version (22F66) from the official Apple link for Ventura:
Also direct from Apple it's 22F59 🤷‍♂️
