Installed 14.4 beta 3 on my MBP12,1 with OCLP 1.4.0, but the built-in keyboard/trackpad don't work. I've done all of the following (using a USB Keyboard/Mouse):
- Applied the root patches
- Rebuilt OpenCore
- Installed the latest KDK

This model MacBook uses the SPI connection for the built-in keyboard/trackpad, which aren't detected under System Info -> SPI, which must mean Apple dropped those drivers for older Mac models in 14.4.
Have you read this? https://github.com/dortania/OpenCore-Legacy-Patcher/blob/main/CHANGELOG.md

OCLP developers were perfectly aware of what’s broken with 14.4 and macrumors forum in not their way of taking feedback.
So your tests are not very useful…
Hello rbart,

I must admit to being a bit conflicted; on one hand your post could be construed as an invitation to post on Dortania, on the other hand, it seems defensive.

None doubt developers skills, or mean to slight or undermine them in any way. Just as none participating in this forum are, proverbially, “children of the lesser gods”.

… with collegial respect,

Take care

So I am guessing I would need a usb hub to go further than Monterey on my mid 2010 MacBook Pro, not that I really need to.... Monterey works very well on it, and it is quite snappy as well.

iMac 13,2 (late 2012):

Installed Sonoma 14.4 beta3 OTA over beta 2 version. Applied OCLP 1.4.0n from 2.13.24.
Everything functions correctly, including iPhotos.

MacBook Pro 5,2 17* C2D 3.02 MGz (Penryn), 1TB SSD :

Applied OCLP 1.4.0n while booted in Ventura, then booted into Sonoma Volume.

Sonoma 14.beta2, installed via USB thumb drive, boots to login screen, but is inaccessible since neither internal keyboard/trackpad nor wired keyboard/mouse are functional (the latter routed through external USB hub) . Can’t login to check functionality. Resetting SMC or NVRAM made no difference.

Booted back to Ventura volume and noted, that after installing OCLP 1.4.0n from 2.13.24, I could no longer login using internal keyboard. I had to use wired keyboard, routed via external USB hub, in order to login. Previously that was only necessary after installing Sonoma variants. I also reapplied patches, but process failed at “rebuilding cache” stage. I took screen shot of the section of OCLP install log, since copy/paste did not function. Patching process stopped due to problems with “missing” USB IO functions.

Reinstalled Ventura via thumb-drive to overwrite the patches, then removed contents of the EFI partition. Reinstalled OCLP to the drive and applied patches, but results were the same. Patching stopped at “rebuilding cache” stage. Resetting SMC or NVRAM made no difference.

Monterey volume remains unaffected by OCLP Version change and boots without issues.

Attached are a screen shout of OCLP output log and , for reference, a screen shot of disk utility mapping the SSD drive on the MacBook Pro.

Hope this may be of help.

I installed macOS 14.4 latest beta on my MBP 13.2, with the latest OCLP 1.4.0 nightly build. Everything is fine, except the wi-fi.
No wifi connexion.
Can somebody help me? Thanks in advance.
Edited: you already solved the Wi-Fi issue.

Yes, as a reminder, with 14.4 beta and Opencore Patcher, first the wifi is not working. you have to go manually to the Wifi preferences and forget your known networks. After you can put them back with the correct password, and the wi-fi will work.

There is a Discord dedicated to OCLP support.
It's the only way to give feedback.
They don't answer or read here.

I only have to click Wi-Fi icon on the menu bar and then click the known Wi-Fi from the drop down list no forgetting or messing with it.

The developper says : "Note with 14.4: Auto-Join may not work until you forget and rejoin the network". I think it depends of your Mac model. I needed to follow the procedure of forgetting with my MacBook Pro, but it was not necessary on my iMac...

All you guys beta testing 14.4, Are there any known advantages or new features at all in there that are meaningful in your view in the context of vintage OCLP Mac use? Looks like a polish/bugfix release mainly?

StoreKit ('https://developer.apple.com/documentation/macos-release-notes/macos-14_4-release-notes#StoreKit')

New Features ('https://developer.apple.com/documentation/macos-release-notes/macos-14_4-release-notes#New-Features')

* productDescriptionHidden(_:) API can be used to configure the visibility of product descriptions in ProductView, StoreView and SubscriptionStoreView instances within a view hierarchy. When building with Xcode 15.3, the view modifier can be used even if your app is running on iOS 17.0, iPadOS 17.0, macOS 14.0, tvOS 17.0, watchOS 10.0, visionOS 1.0, or later.
When implementing a product view style, it can support this new view modifier by checking the descriptionVisibility property on the configuration value. (110414819) (FB12261973)
* You can use SubscriptionStoreView ('https://developer.apple.com/documentation/storekit/subscriptionstoreview') to present promotional offers by adding the subscriptionPromotionalOffer(offer:signature:) modifier.
If you’re already using inAppPurchaseOptions(_:) ('https://developer.apple.com/documentation/swiftui/view/inapppurchaseoptions(_:)') modifier to support promotional offers for StoreKit views, you should adopt the new API instead when your app is running on iOS 17.4, iPadOS 17.4, macOS 14.4, tvOS 17.4, watchOS 10.4, visionOS 1.1 or later. Do not use both APIs to apply a promotional offer for the same view. (115358806)

Resolved Issues ('https://developer.apple.com/documen...otes/macos-14_4-release-notes#Resolved-Issues')

* Fixed: The isEligibleForIntroOffer ('https://developer.apple.com/documen...scriptioninfo/3803203-iseligibleforintrooffer') property and isEligibleForIntroOffer(for:) ('https://developer.apple.com/documentation/storekit/product/subscriptioninfo/3791958-iseligibleforintrooffer')method now reflect ineligibility in cases where a customer would otherwise be eligible for the offer if they weren’t actively subscribed. This means a customer which is not currently eligible for an introductory offer may become eligible in the future.
Customers who redeem an introductory offer for a given subscription group will continue to never be eligible for another introductory offer in that subscription group. You can detect this case this by checking if any one transaction with a matching subscriptionGroupID ('https://developer.apple.com/documentation/storekit/transaction/3749718-subscriptiongroupid') has the type ('https://developer.apple.com/documentation/storekit/transaction/offer/4307073-type') property on offer ('https://developer.apple.com/documentation/storekit/transaction/4307076-offer') set to introductory ('https://developer.apple.com/documentation/storekit/transaction/offertype/3822309-introductory'). (103604770) (FB11889732)

SwiftUI ('https://developer.apple.com/documentation/macos-release-notes/macos-14_4-release-notes#SwiftUI')

New Features ('https://developer.apple.com/documentation/macos-release-notes/macos-14_4-release-notes#New-Features')

* Table now supports dynamic numbers of columns with the new TableColumnForEach. (79492167) (FB9189673)

Resolved Issues ('https://developer.apple.com/documen...otes/macos-14_4-release-notes#Resolved-Issues')

* Fixed: DatePicker in macOS reset focus to the first date component when its bound date changes and timeZone is overriden in the environment. (97376561)

Do a NV Ram reset (OCLP Menu Space Bar) then try a SMC ram reset:

SMC reset on MacBook Pro, MacBook Air and MacBook

For very old models where you can still remove the battery, the reset works as follows:
  1. shut down mac
  2. Unplug the power cord from the Mac
  3. Remove battery from MacBook
  4. Press and hold the power button for about 5 seconds
  5. Reinstall the battery
For models with a permanently installed battery, the SMC reset is as described here:
  1. unplug the power cord
  2. hold down the following keys at the same time: SHIFT + CTRL + ALT + power
Tried both. Still same. Maybe calibration works. I'll charge it to full and let it discharge to zero and see what it says.

What about the Mac Pro Intel they were selling till a few months ago? Out of support???
In my opinion, it is more likely than not that Apple continues Intel support in macOS 15. But like the other opinions stated in this thread, it's a guess. Until Apple announces the next macOS, flipping a coin will make an equally credible prediction.

At this time, for me, Sonoma offers nothing more than Ventura. That will change when Sonoma is required to run the latest Xcode. And Ventura is still receiving legacy Wi-Fi framework updates from Apple.

Well, if we compare with the PowerPC to Intel transition, then PPC was supported for only two “hybrid” Mac OS X versions (Tiger and Leopard), while being dropped at the third (Snow Leopard, Intel-only but still with Rosetta) and totally alienated at the fourth (Lion, which dropped also Rosetta). Now, transitioning from Intel to ARM, we have already had four macOS versions compatible also with Intel (Big Sur, Monterey, Ventura and Sonoma): which is two more than then, so it would look likely that macOS 15 will be ARM-only (still with Rosetta 2). But who knows: nothing can be said, currently, as we know nothing about macOS 15…

BTW, it is rumoured that iOS 18 will be a “big” upgrade: so, probably, also macOS 15 will be similar (a “Mammoth” upgrade?); which could also mean, among other things, an ARM-only release, or maybe not: like Socrates, we only know that we know nothing, currently…

(And, who knows, maybe OCLP could evolve, in the future, to become a patcher also for “old” Apple Silicon Macs, besides Intel ones…? If it is at all possible to patch AS Macs: don’t know that…)

I don't know but I always go on the premise that everything that is man made is fixable as well as breakable.
So who knows.............I am not in a hurry as yet to fill Apple's Coffers any more than I did not too long ago.

That's the main reason I am considering going to sonoma on my mid 2010 MacBook Pro. However if the keyboard and trackpad going to cause fits, Monterrey will suit just fine for several more years.
